On the heels of releasing his debut single “Swollen,” American Idol Top 5 finalist Francisco Martin drops the emotional tune’s brand new music video.
The clip opens with credits announcing that Francisco and his ex-girlfriend star in the video. Now, whether the young woman playing his ex really IS his ex, I’m not really sure. But, in any case, the story takes place over the course of a day. Francisco gazes sadly into the camera as he clings to his love. But eventually she walks away, and by the end Francisco stands alone in a field, gazing off into the sunset.
“It’s crazy to go from being such a nervous kid barely able to get his words out to my first ever music video,” Francisco wrote on Twitter in response to the official official American Idol account calling the clip a “stunner.”
There is a reason for the promotion and kind compliment. After the American Idol finale back in May, Francisco signed a recording deal with 19 Recordings, the music arm of American Idol’s production company 19 Entertainment. “A new chapter has opened up in my life and I’m so excited for you guys to be a part of it,” Francisco wrote after announcing the deal on social media.
Francisco explained: “I wrote this song way back in December. Posted a short clip of it in April. Produced it myself in September. And now, here it is in October for you to love, laugh, cry and enjoy.”
