David Archuleta drops the music video for his latest single “Beast.” Directed by Justin Thorne, and produced by Nate Dodge. In the clip, David argues with a female companion after he pushes her hand away. She angrily gets out of the car. David’s message is stay away, from the “beast inside” of him.
When the song dropped, the American Idol season 7 alum described what inspired the lyrics.
“I was feeling discouraged to see that no matter how I tried and who I was with, and how great they were it always ended by this other side of me coming out and dragging things down.” David added, “I normally consider myself a pretty cheery person even though I’m shy. But the more close I would get to someone the more anger and suspicion and resentment I would feel, which would then translate into my behavior that would unfold in the relationship. It brings a lot of insecurity making me fear even myself in a relationship.”
The singer came out as LGBTQiA in June, and has described the struggle to reconcile his sexuality with his Mormon religious beliefs. His brave honesty has helped a lot of folks who struggle with the same issues.
Meanwhile, David recently released a children’s book based on his song “My Little Prayer.” Additionally, the singer will embark on a Christmas tour beginning Friday November 26 in Salt Lake City Utah. Check out his tour schedule HERE.
And next year, David will play the lead role in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat beginning July 2022 at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Ivans, UT.
