American Idol alum Colin Stough reveals he’s working with a label, moved to Nashville
Colin Stough posted a heartfelt message to his fans on social media recently. The American Idol 2023 3rd place finisher and budding country star is now living in Nashville. And it appears that he’s working with a record label. At the very least, American Idol’s recording arm, 19 Recordings has signed him (if they aren’t partnering with another label, such as BBR Music Group).
“I have to give all glory to the good lord,” Colin writes on Instagram. “A year ago today I was working a full time job and also doing things on the side. Now im living in Nashville doing music full time.” Colin continued. “I can’t be more blessed to have made some of the great friends I’ve made and have a great fan base. If it wasn’t for you guys we couldn’t keep playing the shows we are.”
Colin finished his message with gratitude for the people helping him along on his journey. “Thank you to the people that are making these awesome times happen,” he writes, “from the people to the label, songwriters, fans, the awesome band members, and people who just stream my music.”

American Idol introduced fans to 18-year-old Colin Stough in a video package that featured the young singer on his humble rural homestead in Amory, Mississippi. He shared that his dad, who had drug and alcohol problems, didn’t raise him, and that his love for horses and music served as an outlet. His mother signed him up to audition for the show.
After making it into the Top 5 finalists, Colin released his first original song, “I Still Talk to Jesus” which rose to No. 5 on the iTunes country chart. After the show, fans voted for him to perform the song on the Live with Kelly and Mark show.
His life has changed a lot, and these days, he’s playing shows–including the CMA Fest in June–along with uploading song covers and sneak peeks at some of his original music. Check out a couple of his originals below!
