Fans have been waiting for a long time for new music from American Idol winner Chayce Beckham. And now it’s finally here. The Season 19 champ will join forces with country singer and Canada’s Got Talent host, Lindsay Ell for “Can’t Do Without Me” dropping on January 29.
According to a new press release, Chayce and Lindsay are labelmates on BBR Music Group. Born in Calgary Canada, Lindsay, an award winning country singer, musician and songwriter, will team up with Chayce for an “irresistibly steamy new single.” The song can be pre-saved right now HERE. Lindsay released her fifth studio album heart theory in August 2020.
“Can’t Do Without Me” is helmed by “23” producer Ross Copperman
“Can’t Do Without Me” soars “with powerhouse vocals and a heart-pounding, high-energy beat,” The tune is produced by Ross Copperman, who helmed Chayce’s American Idol winners single “23.” After releasing his self-penned track earlier this year as part of winning American Idol, the deeply personal song shot to the top of multiple viral charts, racking up more than 22 million on-demand streams.
The song “describes a couple’s long-awaited reunion,” says the press release about “Can’t Do Without Me”. “Beckham’s rough, gravelly voice and Ell’s bluesy, soulful flair, the pair perfectly complement each other’s distinctive vocals.”
“Working with Lindsay on this song was a blast,” said Chayce. “Being in the studio with such a talented artist really took this song to another level for me.”
“There is such a raw intensity in this song that when A&R brought it to me, I knew I had to cut it—it hit me like lightning,” said Lindsay. “Chayce, wow, did he bring it on this song. I had heard so many great things about him but he more than understood the assignment on this one.”
Chayce didn’t co-write ‘Can’t Do Without Me”
“Can’t Do Without Me” drops the same night Lindsay will co-host the 2021 Canadian Country Music Awards, where she is the most nominated female artist (with five nominations). Ell, with a No. 1 already under her belt (2019’s “What Happens in a Small Town” with Brantley Gilbert), is currently serving as host to Canada’s Got Talent as she recently kicked off her first headlining tour in Canada, since recently wrapping Blake Shelton’s 2021 Heroes & Friends Tour.
Interestingly, Chayce did not co-write his label-debut single. Jordan Walker, Trannie Anderson and Michael Carter penned “Can’t Do Without Me.” Chayce is signed to both BBR Music Group (BMG) and American Idol’s recording arm, 19 Recordings.
The song drops Nov. 29, goes for radio adds on Dec. 13
According to All Access, the song will go for country radio adds on December 13. Chayce is releasing the song on the BBR label imprint, Wheelhouse Records.
