American Idol’s Arthur Gunn Goes Back to His Roots for “Jalai Mai” (Audio)

American Idol runner-up Arthur Gunn released his new single today (Dec 8) titled “Jalai Mai.” The song mixes Arthur’s Nepali roots with Americana influences, such as the slide guitar. The song is written by Arthur in his native tongue, follows his summertime release of his EP, Self-Titled.

Arthur, whose real name is Dibesh Pokharel, emigrated to the United States from Nepal. He and his family settled in Kansas, where he spent time soaking in American music. On the most recent season of American Idol in 2020, the young artist performed classic songs such as Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” Bon Iver’s “Hey Ma,” and John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
