Ada Vox hints she auditioned for America’s Got Talent
Drag queen Ada Vox teased her fans on social media with a short clip of herself walking on to a mysterious stage. “I did a thing,” she wrote on Instagram alongside the clip, “Do you know what it is?” What gives the game away is that music. It’s the America’s Got Talent theme!
America’s Got Talent, featuring judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Howie Mandel, recently began filming auditions for season 18 at the Pasadena Civic Center in Pasadena, California. The timing lines up!
Drag queens have appeared on America’s Got Talent over the years, including Ginzilla from season 14 (who also appeared on Queens of the Universe with Ada), contortionist Scarlett Business on Season 16 and Alyssa Edwards from from RuPaul’s Drag Race. Alyssa didn’t actually perform–her crew of kid dancers competed.
Ada Vox previously competed on Queens of the Universe and American Idol
Most recently Ada finished as the runner-up behind Grag Queen on season 1 of the Peacock streaming competition Queens of the Universe in 2021. The competition reality show featured Drag Queen vocalists from all over the world competing for the crown.

But, fans first met Ada on American Idol season 16. She was not only the first drag queen to receive a golden ticket, but compete as a finalist. She auditioned in San Antonio performing “House of The Rising Sun” impressing judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan with her big dramatic vocals.
During her audition, she shared her story. Before she began performing in drag, Adam Sanders auditioned for American Idol season 12. He made it to Hollywood, but the judges cut him at the Top 50. Ada admitted that he wasn’t ready yet.

Afterward, trolls inundated his social media accounts, mocking his weight, sexuality and voice. It really got to him. He had dark thoughts, disappeared from the world for awhile. But eventually, he recovered by reinventing himself.
American Idol gave Ada a solid start, but succeeding on Queens of the Universe, and being welcomed into the RuPaul universe, advanced her career as a drag queen even further.
Good luck to Ada! Hopefully, AGT will feature her audition on the show.
