American Idol XIII Spoilers: The Hollywood Round Preview, Approved Song List

The Idol Pad is releasing Hollywood Week Spoilers this week, and I have a few exclusive spoilers for you to check out.

But first, check out the approved song list for Season 13 HERE. Still plenty of old songs on that list. But as the producers, promised, there are actually songs from this millenium cleared to sing.  Additionally, Idol alums are generously represented.

Here’s how Hollywood Week (Begins Wednesday February 5) will go:

Round 1:  Hollywood or Home

Before the Hollywood Round began proper at the Dolby,  before the kids even unpacked their bags, around 60 contestants out of 200+ (including those who received only 2 yeses) performed at a sing-for-your-life round that took place at an airplane hangar. Those who didn’t make it stayed at a “mediocre” hotel near the airport before they headed home the next day. An entire episode will be devoted to this round.

Round 2 – Solo a cappella performances in lines of 10 or so

Round 3 – The group round

Round 4 – Final solo performances accompanying themselves with instruments and/or the Idol band (Top 80-ish)

Round 5 – The Green Mile. There were no further performances in this round.  The judges/producers deliberated, and then delivered the news to the Top 48, one by one, if they made it to the Top 30 and the semi-finals “Rush Week.”  Ben Briley and Neco Starr were the last two left. The judges “couldn’t decide,” so America will vote to decide which of the singers moves on to the Top 30.

Now for the spoilers. All three singers are Top 31 contestants.

For the final solo round (Round 4), Jordan Brisbane, the spunky 15 year old who auditioned in Atlanta will perform “Halo” by Beyonce.  Check out a pre-Idol performance of the song below. Click for Jordan’s Contestant Preview.

Seventeen year old, Atlanta auditioner, Emily Piriz, will perform  “Stars” by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals at the piano for the final solo round.  Check out a pre-Idol performance below Click for Emily’s Contestant Preview.

And lastly, Caleb Johnson, who auditioned for both season 10 and 11, will sing “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons. Caleb was cut just before the Top 24 in season 11, and  is also an Atlanta auditioner.  Click for Caleb’s Contestant Preview.

We don’t have a video of Caleb performing “Radioactive,” but here he is singing an original song, “Down to the River.”

The Idol Pad also released exclusive to a couple of other Idol blogs. Rickey has spoilers for Alex Preston, Savion Wright and Kenzie Hall. (I’m being the bigger person and linking, despite the passive aggressive swipe he took at me. Whatever.) and Spencer Lloyd, Majesty Rose and C.J. Harris are featured at Americanidol.net
