American Idol season 20 ratings 2nd week ratings rise

American Idol ratings for Season 20 week 2 on ABC actually ROSE 1/10th of a point in the key 18-49 demo from the week before. American Idol topped the demo for Sunday night, March 6, while the CBS veteran news show, 60 Minutes garnered the most viewers.

Last Sunday, American Idol garnered a 0.9 rating in the key demo and 6 million total viewers. This week, American Idol nabbed a 1.06 in the final ratings and 6.6 million viewers. This week, 60 minutes got a .62 in the demo and 8 million viewers.

Last Sunday, American Idol ran against the SAG awards. And with most award shows pushing their dates up due to COVID-19 concerns, American Idol will run against several high profile events such as Critics Choice Awards (March 13) and Grammys (April 3)

America’s Got Talent: Extreme post weak ratings

America’s Got Talent: Extreme third week for NBC earned a  0.51 in the key demo and 3.2 million viewers. The show has averaged about .5 during its short run. Maybe the numbers will lift for next Monday’s finale. But considering all the bad publicity surrounding the series after a contestant landed in the hospital for 4 months after a horrific accident, the weak ratings aren’t a surprise.  It’s bound to earn higher ratings.

Also, the network delayed AGT after production shut down, consequently pushing American Song Contest out as well. In any case, NBC is probably happy that American Song Contest will slide into Monday at 8 pm on March 21.
