American Idol Season 20 Ratings Top Sunday Night’s Demo

American Idol Season 20 Leads Sunday Night Demo

American Idol season 20 premiere garnered a 0.9 rating in the key 18-49 rating and 6 million total viewers. It lead Sunday night in the key demo. For a comparison to 2021, American Idol opened Season 19 with 6.7 million total viewers and a 1.1 rating. That’s a .2 difference between 2021 and 2022.

While American Idol won the demo, the CBS veteran news program 60 minutes topped the night in total viewers with 8.1 million and a 0.6 rating in the key demo. 

And for further comparison, last fall’s The Voice season 21 premiere, which boasted the introduction of new coach mega pop star Ariana Grande, garnered a 1.1 rating and 7.22 million viewers.
