The American Idol Live tour hits the Carpenter Theater stage tonight, in Richmond Virginia, the hometown of Rayvon Owen.
The 4th place finalist stopped by the local CBS affiliate, WTVR, to talk about the tour and his American Idol 14 journey, he also performed a rendition of his original song, the lovely ballad, “Air.” The singer was accompanied by Jarius Wilson on keyboard.
In this interview with Virginia This Morning. Rayvon says the Richmond show is the one he’s been anticipating the most. “Richmond has been so supportive of my journey. My family has been watching and spreading the word,” he said, “So it’s really good to come back and just show people what we’ve been working on this entire season.”
Rayvon admits that it’s a little more nerve wracking to perform in front of people that you don’t know. “When you don’t know anyone out in the audience, it’s a little easier for me,” he admits, “But when your mom is out in the audience…your family, your friends…you want to make sure it’s perfect.”
Fun fact: Rayvon auditioned for American Idol 6 times! He and his family watched American Idol together as he was growing up.
After the tour ends, Rayvon plans to release new music towards the end of the year or the beginning of next. He’s also looking into acting opportunities.
