American Idol ratings won Sunday night for ABC. The show, which featured the Top 10 performing songs from the Disney catalog, scored a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic, pending updates. It’s American Idol’s best Sunday showing since March 18 (the week after the show’s premiere on March 11).
Last night, Idol resembled an Awards show, airing at the same time across US time zones, which allowed for real time voting and eliminations at the end of the episode. At least so far, the new format seems to be paying off for the network.
UPDATE: With time zone adjustments, the live Idol raises 1/10th of a point to 1.9 in adults 18-49, its second-best rating of the season, and 8.7 million viewers.
