American Idol Season 19 is Filming in Disney World this Week

They’re going to Disney World! The American Idol Top 10 aren’t only singing Disney songs when the show returns after the week-long Oscar break on Sunday May 2, but they are right NOW filming video packages at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

It’s seems odd that for all the show brags about adhering to super careful, super safe COVID protocols, they are flying cast and crew to Orlando, Florida, where the state is completely open, and pretty much anything goes. Maybe everybody concerned has gotten their COVID vaccinations. Actually, Disneyland in Anaheim is closed until April 30. The choices are no (or rushed) park footage, or fly to Florida.  Stay safe everyone!

John Stamos has been spotted in Orlando on the American Idol set

But in any case, Disney blogs are posting photos of American Idol filming at the park. And here’s a bulletin: Actor John Stamos has been spotted! OH BOY. American Idol sure knows how to nab the big stars! Snerk. Check out pap like photos of Stamos on the Idol set at InsideTheMagic. And there are even more photos at Walt Disney News Today.

Additionally, on the May 2 show, the winner of the Comeback vote will be revealed. Fans have until May 26 at 6 am to vote for their favorites. Ten season 18 Top 20 contestants, including runner-up Arthur Gunn competed again for the final spot in the Top 10 on Monday (April 19) . That means all 10 singers are practicing new Disney songs. Realistically, only Arthur, season 18 Top 7 singer and Comeback show closer Louis Knight and the popular Mikaylah Phillips have a chance to advance. The preparation must feel futile to the majority of the second chancers. (Vote for your favs in our Comeback POLLS)

Are American Idol Monday shows off the calendar for the rest of the season?

Programming note: According to @IdolSpoilers the Monday shows in May may not happen. But the Monday, May 3 show is still scheduled on my DVR. But, OnCameraAudiences are only seating audience members for the Sunday shows. So we shall see? The Comeback show ratings at under a 0.7 are probably an American Idol series low. DWTS recapper Franky Nunez suggested to me that ABC could fill the two hours with Bachelor content instead. That would not surprise me at all.

UPDATE: The May 3 show is no longer listed on the reliable schedule at The Futon Critic. However, there is no other ABC listing in its place. However, the May 3 show is still scheduled on my DVR. My guess is that ABC planned Monday shows through to the May 23 finale, but changed their minds at the last minute. DVR schedule has simply not been amended yet.
