AMERICAN IDOL 405 (Auditions) The search for the next superstar across Los Angeles, California; San Diego, California; and Ojai, California, comes to an end as American IdolÓ auditions wrap on SUNDAY, MARCH 14 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. (ABC/Christopher Willard) WYATT PIKE

Nineteen year old Wyatt Pike has had all the support in the world from his family back in Park City, Utah. He’s been gigging as much as he can in and around the tourist ski town where he grew up.

Additionally, in the past few years, Wyatt has dove into songwriting. A recent tune he composed is about his sister, and called “Best for You.” In high school, Wyatt struggled with anxiety. “It was some stuff my sister dealt with in the past,” the young singer-songwriter shares in his video package.

His sister Hazel describes how when she experienced “severe mental health issues,” Wyatt supported her the entire time. Writing the song for his sister, brought the siblings closer together, says dad.

Performing “Best for You” American Idol judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, is important for Wyatt because he wants to show “who I am.” The singer adds, “It’s a story of mine…something that I feel, and want to make them feel it.”

In his audition, Wyatt accompanies himself on guitar, as he sings the personal, pretty and heartfelt folk song.

“I want more!” Luke gushes afterward, adding, “You are the exact spitting image of my high school bass player…” Cut to the side by side photo, and Luke has a point! Luke calls Wyatt totally unique.

Katy compares the hopeful to spinning pottery. She thinks his nerves have him “going faster than the actual pocket is,” noting that one wrong move as the clay is spinning can destroy the piece. Katy adds that “these are technical things!” She describes his talent as “immense.”

Lionel calls Wyatt a “Park City James Taylor your version” in addition to a “fabulous storyteller.”  And he believes that the only person Wyatt is “boxing with is yourself.”

And in the end, Wyatt gets 3 yeses. He’s going to Hollywood! Wyatt’s audition airs on the final American Idol audition episode, Sunday March 14 at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC.
