American Idol: Alex Preston Marries Emily Luker in Bucolic Maine

Congratulations to Alex Preston. On October 8, he married his long-time partner, Emily Luker in a beautiful bucolic venue in Waterford, ME. The American Idol season 13 second runner-up, whose full name is Alex Preston Philbrick, had a few familiar faces in his wedding party. Season 13 winner, Caleb Johnson and The X Factor USA season 3 winner (as part of duo Alex & Sierra) Alex Kinsey both served as groomsman.

“I got to marry my best friend yesterday. Thank you to everyone for making it such a special day,” Alex wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the couple at what appears to be their wedding reception.

The two, who live in Nashville, have been together a long time. “Couldn’t think of a better way to spend our 7th year dating anniversary looking at our wedding venue together getting ready to start a new anniversary,” Alex wrote back in July. “I love you, Em. The couple got engaged in August, 2021.

“I get to marry my best friend!!!” Alex wrote in his engagement announcement. “I love you @em.luker (now @em.philbrick) and I can’t wait to continue this adventure with you. I am so happy and fall more in love with you every day.”

Alex became a fan-favorite on American Idol after performing his original song, “Fairytales” for his audition. During Hollywood Week, her sang “Scream and Shout” by Britney Spears. Eliminated in third place, the Mont Vernon, New Hampshire native traveled back to his hometown for a hometown visit. He performed a full-blown concert to a full arena. His cousin, country singer Jo Dee Messina, joined him on stage for a surprise duet. Later that week, he left the competition in third place. He performed with Jason Mraz on the finale.

His most recent single “Don’t Know Love” was released in 2019. He dropped the 12 song A Work in Progress LP in 2018. A year after his Idol stint, Alex holed up in a cabin and produced a self titled album that included “Fairytales” and more. 

Emily, his wife, according to her Instagram, appears to be a Yoga teacher. Lately, Alex has shared about his struggles with social anxiety.
