via Mediaweek:
Fox took control of the 9 p.m. hour, of course, with the final night of auditions on American Idol notching a very healthy 20.83 million viewers and a 7.7/20 among adults 18-49.
Healthy? It won the time slot, but those numbers aren’t great, considering that Idol has averaged around the mid-twenties since the season began.
Two things might have come into play here: Fox promoted last night’s episode as a “best of” maybe leading some peeps to think it wasn’t important. Last night was also the first night Idol aired at 9 pm. Plus, CBS’s Criminal Minds and ABC’s popular comedy, Modern Family offers some stiff competition.
Next week’s Hollywood Rounds, starring new judge, Ellen Degeneres, should bring some peeps back into the fold. At least for awhile.
