After American Idol unveiled its Top 14 on Sunday after a nationwide vote, host Ryan Seacrest revealed themes and special guest starts (including an Idol winner) for next week’s live shows (Sunday April 27 and Monday April 28). Notably, American Idol will air LIVE coast to coast for the first time this season!
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025 inductees revealed, James Taylor Mentors

Next week, American Idol once again celebrates the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame with mentor, the legendary HOF member and singer-songwriter James Taylor. Some of you may remember James as a mega-mentor on The Voice a few seasons ago. His soft spoken advise was appreciated.
Voting will be conducted LIVE for the first time. After the Top 14 perform and viewers at home VOTE, a Top 12 will be revealed at the end of the episode.
Additionally, the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees will be revealed LIVE during the show. Tune in next Sunday, April 27, on ABC at 8 pm ET/PT and streaming next day on HULU.
American Idol season 3 winner Fantasia helps the Top 12 celebrate Iconic Idol Moments

The following night, The Top 12 will sing songs depicting Iconic Idol Moments from over the years. The show has featured similar themes in the past. Considering the series has been on the air almost continuously since 2002, and American Idol has crowned 22 winners so far, there is a ton of material to work with.
Season three winner Fantasia returns to the American Idol stage, and artist in residence Jelly Roll joins the live studio audience. Iconic Idol Moments airs Monday, April 28 on ABC at 8 pm ET/PT and streaming next day on HULU.
