American Idol 2023 Showstopper 1 Contestant List and IMPORTANT Schedule Update!
The American Idol Showstopper round airs in two parts: Sunday April 9 and Monday April 10 on ABC. During the round, 55 contestants will take the stage to sing backed by a full band in front of a live audience. Afterward, judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan will choose the Top 24.

The show is advertising a Top 24, but 26 singers competed in Hawaii for a spot in the Top 20, several eyewitnesses have reported to the spoiler site The Idol Pad. Of course, viewers at home won’t see all 55 performances. What a bummer to make it far into the competition and get no airtime! But that’s how Idol works. An artist with a juicy backstory with a quick elimination will get airtime, while an artist that almost makes the Top 24 remains unseen and unknown.
Check out the singers who are performing on Sunday below. The episode press release states “In the Final Judgment, two pairs of contestants face off with the judges sealing their fate for the next round.” PJAE and Malik Heard will sit together on Sunday for final judgement. The final 2 face off is a thing that happens every season using various twists. This year, probably both singers find out they advance to the Top 24 making for a Top 26 at the end of Day 2. Screaming will ensue!

Additional notes: The Disney press site updated the show’s episode info. After America votes across two nights of performances in Hawaii, the Top 26 will be whittled down to a Top 20. After a Top 20 episode a Top 12 will be revealed. According to TheFutonCritic.com, the following week is “Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame” night. Disney hasn’t made that official yet. But it makes sense, considering the Hall inducted Lionel Richie last year. Check out a freshly updated schedule below:
