The search for the next American Idol champion continues in Hawaii this Sunday when all-star judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, along with host Ryan Seacrest, and multimedia personality and in-house mentor Bobby Bones bring the top 40 contestants to paradise for a showcase concert on the beach at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai‘i. American Idol is taking great pains to alert viewers that THESE EPISODES WERE PREVIOUSLY TAPED. No, people, the Top 40 are NOT heading to Hawaii in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. Speaking of which, after the Hawaii showcase and Green Mile air on Sunday March 29 and Monday March 30, revealing the Top 20, there are no more pre-taped episodes.

New American Idol Episodes End March 30. Clip Shows May Be on the Schedule

In fact, the Top 20 were in town last week, ready to tape the two part semifinal episodes. But due to coronavirus concerns the group was sent back home to their families. With the virus still raging, and most cities currently under lockdown, the cast and crew won’t be hitting the soundstage anytime soon. Maybe American Idol will fill the following week with clip shows? The American Idol press release page on Futon Critic has two new episodes posted for Sunday April 5 and Sunday April 11 titled “This is Me” Part 1 & 2 respectively. Hm.

UPDATE: ABC has reshuffled the remaining American Idol schedule. Monday shows are cancelled, There are, indeed, clip shows. Click for details.

Elyjuh Rene, Julia Gargano and Sophia Wackerman are missing from the list of Top 40 photos. Camryn Leigh Smith is the female @IdolSpoilers couldn’t identify. I should never blog late at night! Also, the usual troll tips are landing in my inbox again. Heh. Additionally, I am attempting to track down an unidentified female. I’m hearing a singer that American Idol hasn’t shown at all made the showcase round. I’m not sure if she ever made it to Hawaii.
