American Idol Top 40 Sing for The Judges in Hawaii

American Idol production was back in Hawaii at the Disney Aulani Resort, auditioning the Top 40 contestants for a spot in the Top 20. The Showcase Round, as it’s called, took place on Friday Jan 31. And just like like last year, the singers auditioned on an outdoor stage in front of a studio audience and judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. Host Ryan Seacrest and mentor Bobby Bones were also on the island to lend a hand.

American Idol Top 20 Spoilers Are Here

Now, courtesy of @IdolSpoilers we have a Top 20 spoiler list! After the the Top 40 perform, the judges/production whittle the contestants down to a Top 20. Idol films each of the singers taking a long walk to meet the judges. Once seated, the judges reveal whether the singer’s Idol journey continues, or ends.  

Last year the powers that be chose 11 males and 9 females for the Top 20. In the end, season 16 returnee, Laine Hardy, won it all. This year there are 12 females and 8 males on the list. Could a female take the crown this year? Will a returnee once again make it all the way? 

Former singing show contestants on the Top 20 list include:  Makayla Phillips (America’s Got Talent 2018), DeWayne Crocker (BET Sunday Best), Grace Leer (American Juniors Top 20) and Nick Merico (American Idol season 17)

Former singing show contestants CUT from the Top 40 include: Genevieve Linkowski American Idol S16 Hollywood; Rob Taylor The Voice S8 finalist; Elyjuh Rene (The Voice S7), Travis Finlay (American Idol S14)

The Top 21 is revealed and confirmed–With a BIG TWIST

UPDATE: . @IdolSpoilers had 21 contestants on their list, but wasn’t sure if there was actually a Top 21 or a name that did not’ belong on the list. As it turns out, country singers Lauren Mascitti and Grace Leer were the last to sit in front of the judges. Both did make it! So yes, a Top 21. But not so fast! America will vote for either Grace or Lauren to take that very last spot in the Top 20.
