The American Idol auditions have come to a close. Next, it’s on to the always dramatic Hollywood Week episodes.
But before we move on, lets reflect on Monday night’s (March 18) episode. A few of last year’s Idols popped in to say HI. Winner Maddie Poppe dropped in to see the judges disguised as a cat loving goth. She was totally believable playing an annoying joke contestant. Trolling at its finest! Caleb Lee Hutchinson was on hand to support an auditioning childhood friend, who didn’t get through. Connections aren’t everything! Also, there were glimpses of Catie Turner, Noah Davis and Dennis Lorenzo. I like that the show values their former contestants.
But as far as last night, the standouts for me were country singer Chloe Channell, pop singer Jorgie and the bluesy Jared Sanders. Night 3 was the best of the audition episodes. While last night did offer some great talent, the show started off slow with some weak singers. IF Idol comes back for another season, the producers need to do a better job of pacing the talent. Also, last night’s episode lacked, shall we say, diversity. Other than one Hispanic singer, the talent was as lilly white as could be.
