Over this past summer, Tristan auditioned for the final season of American Idol. At her celebrity audition, Tristan sang “Why Baby Why,” by Mickey Guyton and in a touching moment her apparently overseas military mother surprised her by showing up. According to The Idol Pad, Tristan survived Hollywood Week and made it to the Showcase round, where she performed Stronger, by Faith Hill. Giving a strong enough performance, Tristan was then admitted into the top 24.

Overall Thoughts: I think the producers are liking Tristan as much as I am. With a pimp-spot tearjerker audition, I think Tristan is well on her way to the coveted top 10. At the time I’m writing this, Tristan’s Youtube audition video has already amassed over a million views, which is the first time in a while I have seen that happen on an audition. All that aside, I really love this girl’s voice, but I do worry that Idol will paint her journey just around her backstory and really push her as the “token sob story girl.” Tristan can really sing and I just hope that people will vote for her more on her ability than her backstory, because she is really talented. The only advice I have for Tristan is to not let the pressure of knowing she is a fan favorite get to her. Tristan has America’s attention and they will be keeping a close eye on her from here on out. I’m excited to see what she does. Tristan is in my personal top 5 girls.
