American Idol 15 New Promo: More Favorites, More Tears! (VIDEO)

During Empire Wednesday, I came across another American Idol 15 promo. It’s just as nostalgia-filled and sentimental as the first promo, but there are even MORE of your favorite stars in it. I’ll admit it. I teared up a tiny bit.

The emphasis is decidedly on seasons prior to season 12, when the show took a huge dive in popularity and buzz. The only post-season 11 alum I detected was Clark Beckham–and that was just a few seconds of him busking on the street corner in Nashville as Ryan Seacrest explains that the next American Idol could be singing out on the street somewhere RIGHT NOW.

Here’s the list of past contestants who appear in the 60 second spot, in order of appearance:

Kelly Clarkson (S1 Winner), Justin Guarini (S1 Runner Up), Carrie Underwood (S4 Winner), Phillip Phillips (S11 Winner), Kris Allen (S8 Winner), William Hung (S3), Adam Lambert (S8 Runner Up), Jordin Sparks (S6 Winner), Jennifer Hudson (S3), Katharine McPhee (S5 Runner Up), Chris Daughtry (S5), Fantasia (S3 Winner), Kellie Pickler (S5), Scotty McCreery (S10 Winner), Taylor Hicks (S5 Winner), David Cook (S7 Winner), Lee DeWyze (S9 Winner) and Clark Beckham (S14 Runner Up).

No Season 2 winner, Ruben Studdard, this time around, but every other winner up through season 11 is featured, plus several finalists who went on to have successful careers after appearing on the show. Oh, and William Hung! God bless.

There is even MORE CRYING in this promo. There’s a shot of original judges, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell giving a standing ovation, and current judges, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. hugging it out and extolling the virtues of the once mighty show.

American Idol 15 premieres for one last time on Wednesday, January 6. Check out the schedule HERE.
