The American Idol 14 semi-finals begin in two weeks when the Top 12 guys and Top 12 girls “hit the road in the American Idol bus” to Detroit Michigan. The Detroit News has details on the upcoming tapings set for the city’s Fillmore theater:
The show will tape back-to-back episodes at the Fillmore Detroit on Feb. 19, showcasing the season’s Top 12 guys and Top 12 girls. Those episodes will air Feb. 25 (guys) and 26 (girls).
“Idol” will return to the Fillmore Detroit for the first live episodes of the season on March 4 and 5. The March 4 episode will open with the live elimination of four guys, followed by performances from the top eight vote-getters. On March 5 it’s the girls’ turn; four will be eliminated, and the top eight will vie for spots in the season’s top 12, which will be revealed the following week when “Idol” returns to its home in Los Angeles.
Just a note: I would be surprised if there were eliminations at the top of the show. It seems more likely that contestants will learn their fate as they are called up to perform. I think the reporter is making a big assumption, there.
The Top 12 finalists will be revealed live from Los Angeles on Wednesday March 11.
Tonight (Feb 12), the Hollywood Rounds conclude, with solo performances with the band and sit down with the judges to talk shop and ask questions.
On Wednesday March 18 and Thursday March 19, the Top 48 perform to a packed house at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. For some of the singers, it will be the first time performing in a large club. After the performances, the Top 24 will be revealed.
