American Idol 11: More Snark From TCA, Plus Post Panel Interviews

Andy Dehnart of Reality Blurred has compiled a very detailed list of snarky quotes directed at X Factor and The Voice from the Idol crew at yesterday’s TCA American Idol panel.   The full quotes  are pretty lulzy.

Here are some of the snarkiest quotes.  But make sure to read the rest at Reality Blurred

Randy Jackson: “Yo. And the winner of The Voice the winner of The Voice, as I will remind you, was an artist that had a deal at Capitol Records for many years, a failed contract over there. So it’s almost like that show, it was almost like second chance people. It wasn’t like some new artist. Do you know what I mean? You know. So, I mean, it’s a different thing out there to me.”

Asked about Kelly Clarkson mentoring on The Voice, Fox reality executive Mike Darnell said, “It’s a compliment to Idol that we’re creating this show has created superstars, what we talked about before, and that other shows want to use those superstars in their shows. We’re not hiring a lot of people from The Voice to be on our show.

Randy Jackson added: “It’s great that we can invent some talent for The Voice.”

Executive producer Ken Warwick: “This is also the show that produces the stars. There’s no other series any of these series over the years has produced anything like the number of stars that we have. I think to be honest, I think Leona Lewis was kind of a one and a half hit star for 10 minutes, but there’s no Kelly Clarksons, Carrie Underwoods, Jennifer Hudsons. Coming steaming up now on CBS [NBC] is Katharine McPhee. They are real stars. They really are. And none of these shows are producing the stars that we are.

LOLZ at Randy Jackson behaving as if American Idol never cast finalists who had failed record contracts. Carly Smithson and her MCA contract at 17 is the most obvious example. But there are others too, like Kristy Lee Cook, for instance, who also released an album as a teen.

Also, Randy brags about Scotty McCreery’s debut album going platinum, which is, admittedly, pretty awesome.  But then he goes on to say there are ONLY 3 artists who are bigger–Gaga, Rihanna and Adele.  REALLY RANDY? REALLY.

I would give Randy Jackson the snarkbite award of the day.  For sure.

Also. Ahhhh. There’s so much coming out of yesterday’s FOX TCA. I’m almost grateful the Idol gang skipped the FOX party.  But a couple of outlets did manage to catch up with the judges after the panel was finished.

From EOnline – The panel feels more confident. “We cut more to the chase [this season],” Jennifer told us. “We were finding our way last year. But now that we know the process, we know what we’re doing.”

From Access Hollywood – Of course, the talent is better this week. Jennifer talks about getting really upset with the other judges. Jennifer says she will CONTINUE to be emotional.

From EXTRATV – “Extra’s” Terri Seymour caught up with Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Kiefer Sutherland at FOX’s TCA press tour. Newly engaged Tyler addressed the recent rumors about Ryan Seacrest leaving “American Idol” to do the “Today” show, and said, “You know, what he’s doing next year, who knows… this year, he’s with us. We got him.” (EXTRA TV)
