TV Guide Magazine: How did you feel in the moment when Scotty was announced the winner?
Lauren Alaina: You would expect that I would’ve felt disappointed, but I didn’t, because Scotty’s my best friend. We went through this whole process together, and I couldn’t have picked a more perfect person to come in second place to. And I mean that with all of my heart. I told him this morning, I said, ‘Scotty, are you ready to win?’ And he said, ‘No, are you?’ And I said, ‘No, because you’re going to win.’ I knew he was. I knew it in my heart. And I’m just so proud of him, and I’m proud to have gotten second place to him. It’s unbelievable.

“I gave him a kiss, yes, in case anyone is worried, ” she laughed. “I love Scotty. I can’t imagine being unhappy in this moment. Of course, I wanted to win. That’s what I came here to do, but I feel like I did win even though I didn’t get first place. I got second place to one of the most incredible people that I’ve ever met. He’s my best friend, one of my best.”
Scotty told us Lauren had been planning the smoochfest long before the confetti shower fell at the Nokia theater.

Just after the smooch, when asked if the duo were in fact an item, Alaina told Entertainment Tonight, “he might by my boyfriend … ask him.”

Lauren, 16, shrugged off the kiss, but played coy when asked if she was dating the 17-year-old country crooner, offering a cute “Ask Scotty!” As she was walking away, she eyed Scotty and yelled down the red carpet, “They asked me if we’re dating. I told them to ask you!” After he laughed off the comment, Lauren said, “I mean, I’ll never tell! Secret’s safe with me!”

“American Idol’s” Season 10 grand finale on Wednesday, May 25, played host to a slew of great performances, which included Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Steven Tyler(!!) and many, many more.
Some of the Season 10 contestants (And none for Thia Megia. Bye! We jest!) got the chance to sing alongside their idols, including winner Scotty McCreery, who performed “Live Like You Were Dying” with one of his heroes, country superstar Tim McGraw.

A day after a record 122 million votes were cast, America crowned Scotty McCreery the new American Idol, but unlike the press room, Alaina had a great attitude about it. “I didn’t lose; I came in second place.”

Lauren Alaina was all smiles backstage at the Nokia Theater, and she appeared genuinely happy for her fellow teenager Scotty McCreery, who took home the season 10 crown. EW spoke with her after the show to talk about her obvious connection with Scotty McCreery (including those kisses she showered on him), her duet with season 4 champion Carrie Underwood, and what her hopes to do now that the show is over.
What Did Carrie Underwood Tell Lauren Alaina Before Their ‘Idol’ Finale Performance?
“Right before we went out there, she said, ‘No matter what Lauren, you’re a winner and you’re going to be amazing in the country field, ’” Lauren recounted to Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson after Wednesday’s big “American Idol” Grand Finale, which saw her performing “Before He Cheats” with the Season 4 champ.
“That was really uplifting, ” Lauren said.
The 16-year-old Rossville, Ga., performer lost out on the “Idol” crown to Scotty McCreery on Wednesday night and she told Access’ Shaun that she had a feeling – despite her tear-jerking final number on Tuesday of original song “Like My Mother Does, ” that her close “Idol” pal would take the prize.

“Carrie has been my Idol since she was on this show in Scotty’s position, ” Alaina told reporters in the press room after Wednesday night’s show in which Scotty McCreery was crowned the new Idol after receiving a record 122 million votes. Underwood won season 5 of the Fox hit.

Kris Allen Says ‘Idol’ Theme Song Still Makes Him Nervous
Kris told OK!, “It’s always a little awkward to heard that theme music. It makes me a little nervous.” Plus, when he’s watching the show he mentioned it’s “a little weird” to see his very own face in the show’s credits.
Weirdness aside, Kris was looking forward to enjoying the show and rooting for Lauren! Haley and Lauren were his two favorites this year. He confessed to OK!, “So I am rooting for Lauren. I like Scotty. Scotty’s great, he’s got his thing.” Overall though, he thinks the all-country final is pretty cool. “I think it’s amazing. I think it’s great for the show. It kind of puts them to be successful in the country music industry.”

Before the confetti came streaming down, Paul McDonald told OK! his thoughts on Scotty: “He’s like the Justin Bieber of country music.” Going into last night Paul thought it could be anyone’s game. “They both sounded like pros last night. It’s amazing what a few months can do. I thought Lauren was unbelievable….It comes down to voters. Girls love Scotty McCreery. They are both going to do great. The country music fans are going to buy all their albums.”
