American Idol 10 auditions wrapped up Sunday at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Approximately 110 hopefuls sang in front of Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson during two days of callbacks.
At a press conference Saturday, the judges told FOX 6 that 27 people made it through to Hollywood on Saturday, an almost unheard number for a single day of auditions. By Sunday afternoon, the judges had advanced 38 of the approximately 110 people scheduled for callbacks.
“They’ve been blowing us away, ” said Jennifer, who said about 60% of the contestants appeared to be natives. “It ain’t only about the Packers in Wisconsin, ” added Randy.
Ryan Seacrest said the judges issued more “golden tickets” in Milwaukee than in New Jersey, where the judges started auditions last week.
Producer Nigel Lythgoe tweeted on Saturday, “So far the talent has been amazing in Milwaukee. What’s in the water here?” (I’m hoping this little guy made it through to the next round. Ha.)
Unfortunately, Randy Jackson could be allowing his position as Idol elder statesmen go to his head. Apparently, the dawg bitch-slapped a contestant before attacking Jl0’s manger, Benny Medina! Does he think he’s Simon Cowell?
Steven, on the other hand, played the nice guy, hugging a contestant who began crying during her audition. (aww)
