Allison Iraheta No Longer For Realzzz

Allison Iraheta has changed her twitter name from the totally snappy @allison4realzzz to the more professional @allisoniraheta.   I’m not going to lie, I’m a little disappointed!

Kris Allen and Adam Lambert ditched the “real” in their names too, so I suppose it was inevitable…

Listening parties for Allison’s new album, Just Like You, were held at Torrid stores–a clothing chain that sells plus size clothing for girls–all over the country.

Did you attend a listening party? If you did, tell us about it in comments!   Her debut album is set to be released on December 1. Hopefully, it will stream online sometime soon…

  1. I will miss the 4Realzzz but I understand the change, Adam & Kris also did it.

I just hope they don’t make her change the way she tweets!

  2. I think it was probably label mandated to make her easier to find on Twitter and is more professional. I will miss the 4Realzzz though, it was so Allison. Next thing you know, they’ll get her to verify her account or something.

Sadly, I don’t have Torrid stores anywhere near me so I couldn’t go but here is also a link to her performing an acoustic version of Just like you:

Uh-oh, I see there’s another “Will” posting here. Hi upper-case Will! Maybe I’ll change my screenname to “will4realzzz”?

  4. Well my theory on this coincidental change evidently is wrong, because all of her old tweets are still there.

  5. I guess I can’t care all that much about somebody’s twitter name…unless neal tiemann somehow loses the fing.

  6. Today she was getting a lot of RTs for her twit about Adam. I think if there’s a S8 idol who cares genuinely about Adam, is @allisoniraheta

  7. Reposted from an older thread:

Well, with trepidation, I bit the bullet and went to the Torrid ‘listening party’ Sunday afternoon.

First of all, my mistake, I was actually expecting some kind of event. Like maybe a little table with some volunteer handing out some promotional material. I also expected more than the 3 people (2 sales clerks, and myself) to be in the store at 3 PM, Pacific Time. Keep in mind that I was a (almost) 65 year old man hanging out in a young woman’s clothing store, supposedly shopping for a present for my wife. Actually, that part was partially true, as my wife is a plus size, and I would have gladly bought her something if I had seen anything remotely right for her. But, in 5 minutes I knew that there was nothing in the store appropriate for her taste.

Now I had to stall for about 40 minutes, while one of the sales clerks felt determined to help me find something to buy.

To make matters more uncomfortable, the speakers were very close to the corset section, not exactly where I wanted to hang out. But, I was determined to at least get some reasonably good sound out of this venture, so I steadfastly lurked by the pink corsets.

On to the album ‘“ cutting to the chase.

All of the non-FIBOU cuts give us plenty of the Allison we know and love. I liked ‘Robot’ much more than I expected. It’s really catchy and might make it as a pop hit. I think the production ‘Just Like You’ also is very strong and is a great showcase for Alli. DWTP is solid, but I absolutely love the acoustic (maybe a little bit more). I was a little disappointed in ‘DIFD’ ‘“ but I think I need to hear it again. Liked ‘Still Breathing’ a lot more than the snippet. Real nice song. ‘You Don’t Know Me’ is good, but I have a feeling that a live version could be even better. Have to reserve judgment on most of the others until I hear them again, especially Scars and Beat Me Up. However –

‘TROUBLE IS’ . Absolutely blew me away. I love, love LOVE the way Allison delivers this song. Wow! I love everything about this killer of a song. If this isn’t a hit it’s a crime!

One other thing ‘“ there was no Holiday. I Wonder if the Dilana situation caused them to pull the song? Hope not, because I love Holiday.

Anyway, the second sales clerk, who actually knew who Allison was and was a fan, gave me a little pink bag with an Allison decal and a discount coupon to their store. And that was the end of my adventure.

BTW this was at the South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach, CA.

  8. I’m not really sure how the name change thing works. Adam originally had a different name, as did Kris. Kris said in the Jim interview that originally Kris Allen and Southern Thunder had Kris Allen, so I wonder if when you get a verified account they can somehow kick someone off your name? But then Allison’s isn’t verified. The two guys’ names switched when their accts became verified… Anybody know?

  9. One other thing ‘“ there was no Holiday. I Wonder if the Dilana situation caused them to pull the song? Hope not, because I love Holiday.

My guess? The song’s lyrics in the chorus are to blame, too many “damn”s…eh… I can see it happening.

But then Allison’s isn’t verified. The two guys’ names switched when their accts became verified’ ¦

I’m guessing her account is about to be verified very soon.

  10. Oh, snapssss. Yes, no doubt label driven and a smart business move.

Jordison— thanks for the recap of your Torrid adventure. It made me smile. :)

  11. I’m sure Jive “persuaded” her. She loves her ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzz’z.

Is it safe to come out now? Is the Adam storm over?

I didn’t get to go to the listening party, either. Really wish I had. Please stream it!! Anyway, back to the JLY video… I love how she in this little conference room and she’s just belting it out!! And there’s only like 10 people there (I saw her interview video in the same room). I have to get a job at a radio station. Most of us would give our right eye to have been in that room.

  13. o make matters more uncomfortable, the speakers were very close to the corset section, not exactly where I wanted to hang out. But, I was determined to at least get some reasonably good sound out of this venture, so I steadfastly lurked by the pink corsets.

    jordison, that was classic. lol
    great writing

I can’t wait to get a hold of “Trouble Is.” You hit the nail on the head about anything live of Allison. Stunning performer and in-your-face live vocalist.

  14. Rub’s comment makes me think that my theory might actually be valid. I would hate to see Allison get caught in the crossfire between “Team Glambert” and “Team Slambert.”

  15. ‘TROUBLE IS’ . Absolutely blew me away. I love, love LOVE the way Allison delivers this song. Wow! I love everything about this killer of a song. If this isn’t a hit it’s a crime!

I am really anxious to hear this song. Everybody’s been raving about it and I thought it was just a ‘meh’ when I heard the clip. To me, she seemed to be straining to hit the notes. Kinda bothered me.

  16. I can’t wait to hear the cd. And see her promote it on tv. And then can’t wait for the 2nd single. I’m impatient that way, lol.

  17. I am really anxious to hear this song. Everybody’s been raving about it and I thought it was just a ‘meh’ when I heard the clip

.I haven’t heard Allie’s version but the demo is good, a lot of people are saying she blows the demo out of the water, I’m very excited for this one, like everybody else.

  18. I don’t think I ever listened to the entire Trouble Is demo, maybe that’s the problem.

I can’t wait to hear the cd. And see her promote it on tv. And then can’t wait for the 2nd single. I’m impatient that way, lol.

I say watch out for a stream of her album tomorrow. The others trended that way – one week before the album dropped – you were able to hear the album.

  20. “Trouyble i”s” seems to be picking up the majority of interest as I browse the blogs. Hearing jordison’s summary makes my ears hungry.

  21. I think every story I’ve heard about the Torrid parties was similar to jordison’s. It doesn’t sound like it was very organized. Too bad. I haven’t heard a lot about the Twilight thing, either.

  22. “Trouble Is” is quintessential Allison – guaranteed to put chills down your spine.

  23. I went to Torrid on Sunday and posted the following in yesterday’s headlines thread:

Well, today’s big event has finished ‘” the debut of Allison’s album at Torrid stores around the US. ;-) My daughter and I heard it this afternoon at our local store. Not the best environment to pay close attention to an album, and it seemed to go by incredibly quickly, but it sounded good and I can’t wait to get it on the headphones! Some notes for my fellow fans:

Based on the 30-second clips, I had a feeling that D Is For Dangerous would be a favorite of mine, and it is, quite possibly my co-favorite along with Trouble Is, WHICH IS GORGEOUS!!

Don’t Waste The Pretty was another I thought would be a favorite, and of course the radio tour acoustic performances a few days ago didn’t change my mind about that. And sure enough, it’s awesome. She really wails in the bridge, just like in the acoustic performances, as well as on the outride. Also, if you’ve heard the acoustic performances, you know the rapid-fire repetition of the title line toward the end ‘” those are in the album version too, as backing harmony.

I frankly wasn’t swooning over the clip of Scars, but I found the full track to be more beautiful, as I hoped.

    Pieces has an interesting bridge.

    She wails on Still Breathing.

I wasn’t wild about the clip of No One Else, and I’d still put it in the bottom half. But there’s a cool surprise waiting for you in the bridge that I promise will make you go, ‘Whoa! WTF?!’

Beat Me Up is as fun as expected, very rockin, with a great ending. Not sure it’s going to be near the top of my list, though.

I really like You Don’t Know Me, and I’m very glad because it’s the one she co-wrote. Might end up as one of my favorites.

This wasn’t the deluxe version of the album, so we didn’t hear El Viernes Te Olvido Yo or Don’t Wanna Be Wrong ‘” bummer. But a good time ‘” and my daughter found a cool hat that we bought!

  24. alli lurker, I have to say I don’t know how anyone can not melt into a puddle listening to the Trouble Is clip. :-) Those low notes are frickin’ magic. And you know, after listening multiple times to Aime Proal’s demo when the credits were revealed a while back, I really wondered if Allison would struggle with those high notes. But unlike you, once the clips came out, I didn’t feel that she did struggle. I did expect that they’d lower the key a bit to make it easier for her, and they did, though only by a half step.

Based on the clip, I expected it to be a home run, and that feeling is even stronger after hearing the whole thing.

  25. John M, the main reason I (slightly) favor the acoustic version of DWTP is because of the rapid-fire repetition of the title line. Was just a little let down that it was backing harmony in the production. But then the sales lady was trying to sell me a sweater as the song was playing, so maybe I need to hear it again with full concentration.

  26. Did you fellas hear the latest?
    Alli did AOL Sessions!!!!!

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, no, I hadn’t heard, but this is FANTASTIC NEWS!

  27. Awesome! AOL sessions! This was tweeted by Gina Orr from Jive but she doesn’t know yet when it will be up….ahhh!!! I wonder if she’s there with the whole band.

  28. ppwars, AOL Sessions are “live” performances, though without an audience, of a few songs. They stream on the AOL site. I’ll look for the David Cook link from last year so you can see what it’s like. This is going to be pretty damn awesome, to quote a certain rocker!

  29. jordison: But then the sales lady was trying to sell me a sweater as the song was playing, so maybe I need to hear it again with full concentration.

See, you should have parked yourself under a speaker like we did! :-)

  30. John, I was under a speaker, fondling a rack of sweaters, also uncomfortably close to the pink and red corset display.

  31. JohnM and Rubthankss for the links! I think that I would like a (plugged) session as well, Rub.

  32. I have to say I don’t know how anyone can not melt into a puddle listening to the Trouble Is clip.

JohnM – I’ve had the same frustration when you speak of the Still Breathing clip… “How can he not love that whole thing?” Haha!

Hopefully I’ll melt when I hear the whole song. I’ll be sure to let you know!

  33. I’m in trouble because I melt with both….I’m a huge puddle of melted goo

  34. I cannot wait to hear the whole album!!! I know it’s gonna be great.

  35. thanks Jordison and JohnM for telling us about your day on Torrid Stores listening to Alli’s album. I’m so excited ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
and AOL sessions I will be playing them over and over again until I go to an actual Alli’s concert

  36. Yup, I haven’t listened to more than just the 30 secs snippets and I’m going to try to make it to December 1st without spoiling myself anymore.

  37. The AOL Sessions thing is another smart promo move. Its always good to SEE Allison sing as well as hear her. She’s such a great performer.

  38. Well, since we have an Allison thread, I’ll pass along the weekly FIBOU radio info that I post on her site.

Top 40: 104 spins, up from 79 the previous week. Chart position 73, up from 80. Audience impressions 0.181 million, up from 0.089, so that’s the best news — double the AIs. Still a long way to go, but going in the right direction.

Hot AC: 6 spins, up from 1. Chart position 162, up from 517. AIs 0.025, up from 0.001.

  39. Thanks John M.

I wish I knew what the hell you were talking about.

  40. alli lurker: The AOL Sessions thing is another smart promo move. Its always good to SEE Allison sing as well as hear her.

And to hear her live rather than in a studio production. I think the best way to win people over is for them to hear her live performances, whether they can see her or not — though yes, seeing is good too!

  41. though yes, seeing is good too!

I don’t remember anyone on Idol (though I didn’t see the first season) who had better stage presence than Allison. Some may argue Adam, but I never believed him as much.

  42. LOL! Well, let’s see if we can get you guys up to speed. Let us know what you don’t understand, but I imagine the most unfamiliar thing is the audience impressions. She had 0.206 million total AIs last week, which as I understand it means that when you factor in the ratings for the stations that played her, the 110 times she was played are estimated to have been heard by a total of 206,000 people.

  43. Thanks John,

And AI means? I only know American Idol and Allison Iraheta.

    But, we’re making progress.

  44. JohnM – Ooooooh… I did not know that! I thought it was some kind of rating scale (like whether they liked it or not).

  45. FIBOU is nice and all, but there are great tracks to follow up for a second single. Little by little people are listening to FIBOU.
JohnM, hopefully the adds will be positive too. The important thing to keep in mind is that it isn’t a sprint, but more of a long term marathon. As much as some of us are impatient, there’s a brief sense of patience that us Alli fans share – I guess we channel Alli’s second class citizen treatment – and shrug it off with “her time will come.”

At least she won’t be “the flame that burns the brightest, burns out the quickest.”

  46. ‘her time will come.’

    Amen to that!

Its too bad that everyone can’t see the FIBOU music video every time they hear the song. That video is really good and really fun to watch!

I keep wondering if they have plans to market her to an older audience. I think there are many of us who really like her. I also think one of the reasons Allison didn’t win was because adults aren’t willing to vote as many times as kids. They need a better system.

  47. alli lurker, the vid is awesome. Alli is perfect in it, not a single awkward scene. It will be even better on a big screen tv, HDTV.

  48. Is it a foregone conclusion that she will do FIBOU on GMA and Ellen? I would love to see her do one of the others.

  49. Thanks John, nice to know she is moving in the right direction, UP! : )

  50. Is it a foregone conclusion that she will do FIBOU on GMA and Ellen? I would love to see her do one of the others.

I think she will do more than FIBOU on GMA, possibly 3 tunes.
And on Ellen, she has to do FIBOU. People need to hear it and request it.

  51. An Alli thread!
Good, because I was starting to make enemies in other threads, specially after the performance formerly known as “the best performance in the history of the world” :-).
Anyhoo, love the girl. Hope the radio numbers keep climbing. I suspect FIBOU, as awesome as I find it, is probably not as radio-friendly as TI, DWTP, and JLY. I can see these last three being radio hits.

  52. LoveDaRocker! I wondering where you were…

I just keep my mouth shut about you-know-who’s performance, although I will say I was embarrassed for him. The whole thing felt kind of weird. That’s all I’m sayin’!

  53. Alli did AOL Sessions? Woooooooooooooooooooooooot !!!
GREAT news…U guys r killing me with the anticipation.

Kudos to those who had the guts to go to the Torrid stores, I could not. I was too embarrassed and didn’t have a female to go with…Hard to be a man and a fan of a female artist. Anyways…

Can’t wait to hear those songs…

When you get to my age it gets easier. After you break through the purse carrying and bra and panty shopping errands, anything’s possible.

You just eventually arrive at the “what the hell” stage of your life.

Hard to be a man and a fan of a female artist.

    True.
Gotta give props to jordison for being a trooper.
The listening party sounded like a good idea at first, but maybe it wasn’t. I would guess that had it been a dept. store, or a music store, it would have been different. But a women/girls store makes it awkward for men not yet in the “what the hell” stage of their life.
alli lurker, I agree about you-know-who. All I have to say is that I “get it”. I just don’t like it.

  56. Rub: The important thing to keep in mind is that it isn’t a sprint, but more of a long term marathon. Couldn’t have said it better myself!

alli lurker: I keep wondering if they have plans to market her to an older audience.

They certainly aren’t giving any indications of that so far! :-) And that Jive guy said in that Billboard article that they were going for the teens. But when they get to a ballad single or two, I presume they’ll push it to HAC and, if they know what’s good for them, do some marketing to an older set.

LoveDaRocker: the performance formerly known as ‘the best performance in the history of the world’

    ROFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suspect FIBOU, as awesome as I find it, is probably not as radio-friendly as TI, DWTP, and JLY. I can see these last three being radio hits.

I think TI and JLY are potentially huge hits, especially on HAC. But I’m inclined to say that FIBOU is much more radio-friendly than DWTP. And I say that as a big DWTP fan.

The listening party sounded like a good idea at first, but maybe it wasn’t. I would guess that had it been a dept. store, or a music store, it would have been different. But a women/girls store makes it awkward for men not yet in the ‘what the hell’ stage of their life.

Well, I think they’re targeting not just teens, but teen girls in particular, so it’s not surprising.

I sometimes think about all this targeted marketing stuff and think back to when I was younger — I wasn’t paying attention to marketing back then, so maybe it was going on, but it sure doesn’t seem to me like it was. As far as I remember, artists put out albums, radio stations played them, and those of us who liked them bought them. I remember when I first heard Heart and, later, Benatar, and it didn’t matter that I was a guy — I just liked their music and bought their albums. I just get kinda annoyed by this targeted stuff.

  57. Supporter the real hard rocker from AI season 8.

Another video of Just like you popped up, this one from the PTS Live Lounge

Is it me or everytime one of these JLY performances come up it just sounds better?
I haven’t been crazy about the bridge before, but here she really lets it out, and it pays off. Now is one of my favorite parts of the song.

  59. really looking forward to allison’s album. she was my 2nd favourite this yr and till date i havent heard any of her songs except friday i’ll be over you. shud check out the vids now

  60. Sound on this is the best yet. One little suggestion to Allison:

Better: “I’m going to need your help” or “I’m going to need you guys to help”. Better than “youguys’s.

Or maybe, is it youguyzzzz-z? (Where is the smiley face? Just kidding)

Getting ready to pick up our son at the airport, so I won’t be posting much for the next few days. Those of you who can – keep up the buzz!
