America’s Got Talent 2023 Audition: Heather and Bogart featuring a three legged dog, wins over the judges’ hearts

It’s the last week of America’s Got Talent 2023 auditions and the first early release to drop is Heather and Bogart, a dog act.

Heather found Bogart at a kill shelter, meaning he was in line to be euthanized. The rescue organization where she worked was able to save the pup from being put down. Heather eventually adopted him, because nobody else wanted the pit bull mix.

The doggo was a handful, but it turned out that obedience class did the trick. Heather discovered that Bogart was extremely trainable. But sadly, he developed a cancerous tumor on his leg which led to amputation. He had a hard time adjusting to life on three legs, but eventually he was ready.

Heather explains to the judges that she is auditioning for AGT to show that dogs can go through anything and still go out and do what they love. Case in point–Bogart competes in agility competitions against 4 legged dogs. He’s very cute and fast. And he butters up Simon Cowell (as if the dog lover needed any wooing) with a sign that reads, in effect, “I love Simon.”

“I love Bogart!”

“I have a feeling Bogart is going to be a big hit on America’s Got Talent,” predicts Heidi Klum, adding, “I totally forgot that he was just on three legs…he just moves like any other dog. It’s quite incredible.” Simon is smitten, “I love Bogart,” he gushes, saying to Heather, “You are obviously such a nice kind person to rescue him. It’s just an amazing story.” Sofia Vergara says, “It was heartwarming, it was inspiring, it was beautiful. This is the place for people like you.” Howie Mandel adds, “The fact that Bogart showed up, did it, seems happy about doing it…” At that moment, Bogart flops to the ground, delighting the audience.

The panel votes, and it’s 4 enthusiastic yeses for Heather and Bogart. Off stage with host Terry Crews, Heather is teary, explaining that Bogart has been through so much. “It’s wonderful being able to share his story.”

The ninth and final America’s Got Talent season 18 audition episode airs on Tuesday August 8 on NBC at 8 pm ET/PT.
