It’s another winning edition of the CBS Late Late Show’s “Carpool Karaoke” While home in London for the holidays, host James Corden picks up his friend Adele for a drive around the city singing some of her classic songs. The singer raps Nicki Minaj’s “Monster” AND IT IS HILARIOUS.
They start off with “Hello.” James calls her the “female Phil Collins.” Adele spills her tea. That’s not metaphorical. She really spills tea on her brand new coat. Then she chugs it. After telling a story about getting drunk in a bar and promising people concert tickets, they sing “Someone Like You.” She shares how she’s a genuine fan of The Spice Girls before they sing along to “Wannabe.”
Adele drops the bombshell that she won’t name the next album after her age, and James is devastated. Perfect time to sing the weepy “All I Ask.” James suggests a “squad” for Adele that would totally kick Taylor Swift’s ass. Adele observes that Taylor’s friends are all “Amazonian.” Of course, Adele’s actual friends are mostly not famous. And that’s why we love her. The duo wind things up with a rousing rendition of “Rolling in the Deep.”
Adele is such a doll. I want to be her best friend. Seriously.
