Adam Lambert’s March 2nd Leno Appearance Canceled?

Update: So, now my source says, Adam is tentatively still scheduled, “things are still moving around, so it could change, but he’s still on Tuesday”…

I’m hearing that Adam Lambert’s March 2nd The Tonight Show With Jay Leno appearance has been canceled. In a bit of irony, Sarah Palin will be taking his place.

Apparently, Adam will be on his way to Australia at that time. I don’t have word on a rescheduled appearance, but I’ll let you know if I hear something.

In the meantime, here’s a recent interview with Mix 107

  1. What and I was looking forward to seeing him on Leno. Strange that they canceled him last minute and that Sarah Palin is the replacement guest. Didn’t know she had an Album out. Maybe they added places to the international promotional tour that they had to accommodate. Or he is going earlier to subvert fallout over the Susan Boyle comment. Love me some Adam but oh this may not have been one of those time to be so honest or forthright with his opinion.

  2. Now I’d come back to Leno to watch that. Palin and Adam on the same night. He’d have to recreate his FYE performance for her!!!

  3. That’s disappointing that it has cancelled was looking forward to watching it.

  4. What Susan Boyle comment? I just got here, is there a new gate? Hmmm, guess I’ll go to Headlines and investigate.

  5. Well that sucks. No way in heck will I watch Leno with Sarah Palin on there. Why the sudden urgency for Adam to go to Australia?

  6. MJ — was it Adam’s people who cancelled bc it was conflicting with the australia trip? or did the leno people cancel?

  7. Adam Lambert still may perform on March 2 as previously reported if there is enough time after Palin and Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White appear.”

    WTAF??

that actually does happen from time to time….the sit down guests run longer than expected and the musical or other guests get bumped. Generally the guest is just rescheduled for another night. I’m guessing that if Adam is leaving that night or the next day for Australia, his people may not want there to be an issue with getting him on or not and so maybe are trying to schedule another date when they are sure he will get on.

  8. Are they afraid Adam will offend Sarah’s delicate sensibilities?

  9. Adam’s sales for this week, back in the top 50

  10. OMG are they trying to give me a headache. They will try to get him on. Look if they want him on to perform they will make the time. Sarah Palin can say a few less Ya betcha’s ;-)

  11. Sarah Palin can say a few less Ya betcha’s

You betcha …. BUT …. she can see Russia from her house …. can Adam say the same??

    :)

  12. Adam Lambert still may perform on March 2 as previously reported if there is enough time after Palin and Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White appear.

That doesn’t make any sense. The format of The Tonight Show has always been two chat guests and one musical guest.

  13. That doesn’t make any sense. The format of The Tonight Show has always been two chat guests and one musical guest.

Star — see my post above. Sometimes musical guests (and/or other guests) get bumped because the lead guests run long. I assume that they are concerned with this re Palin — I bet the Leno people are hoping she says something controversial or silly that they can run with. And Shaun White is also a good guest who can chat it up for a while.

  14. I’m guessing that if Adam is leaving that night or the next day for Australia, his people may not want there to be an issue with getting him on or not and so maybe are trying to schedule another date when they are sure he will get on.

Or his segment was pre-taped and they can run it whenever.

  15. Star — see my post above. Sometimes musical guests (and/or other guests) get bumped because the lead guests run long.

I’ve never seen that happen tbh.

  16. I’ve never seen that happen tbh.

Its not a weekly occurrence, but it happens.

  17. I’ve never seen that happen tbh.

Haven’t you ever watched Jimmy Kimmel? Matt Damon gets bumped every night! j/k but seriously, talk-show guests, musical and otherwise, get bumped all the time.

  18. well since shaun white did so well at the olympics i can see why they would want him on…but there is always a musical guest.. please o please have adam and sarah palin! that would freaking amazing

  19. Guests get bumped all the time, but not days in advance lol! I’ve never, ever heard of a “stand-by” guest. If a guest is bumped, it’s usually last minute, as the show is happening, because the previous guest(s) run too long (happened all the time on Carson). Most guests that get bumped are B-list, not A-list, so they need The Tonight Show or Letterman more than the shows need them, so they suck it up and reschedule. But I’ve never seen a pre-planned possible bumping!

So is the bit about Adam being on his way to Australia at that time not true? Because if that’s the reason his spot was cancelled then it’s another example of bad planning and screwy management. And unfortunately for Adam, a chance at pissing off another media entity. If he does not have a travel conflict, than this second part of my post is moot.

  20. For the record, just called the NBC bff and she says Adam is still on the internal Leno guest list.
14 minutes ago from Echofon (from @sexynarwhal) -she had the ellen show info for adam a month in advance from everyone-contacts at nbc

  21. I just wish it wouldn’t get posted until the story was straight.
I guess getting a scoop trumps everything.
    ETA:
    Not just here MJ!!!
All these sites say different things.
The public’s immediate need to know has seriously made news jump-the-gun wonky.

  22. Guests get bumped all the time, but not days in advance lol! I’ve never, ever heard of a “stand-by” guest. So is the bit about Adam being on his way to Australia at that time not true?

I don’t think that Adam is getting “pre-bumped” LOL. Adam said on a radio interview that he was flying to Australia on March 2. I think that most flights from LA to Australia leave at night. The tonight show tapes late afternoon/early eveningish so it sounds like the plan was to perform and then hop the flight. But if they (e.g leno and adam’s people) think there is even the off chance of getting bumped, maybe they are trying to reschedule. I mean, if you know you will be on, take the latest flight possible. But if you might get bumped, try to reschedule and make things easier all the way around. Or maybe Palin doesn’t want to appear on the same show with Adam; or vice versa. Or maybe all of this is speculation and Adam will appear as planned. Or maybe they will tape his performance and air it on another night. Who the heck knows

  23. Or his segment was pre-taped and they can run it whenever.

I had assumed that Adam was coming on as the final musical performance, not as a sit-down guest. So, I guessed that his performance of “Music Again” was pre-taped as he was starting his international press tour. I have a feeling his performance will air.

  24. Jay must have really liked Adam. It wasn’t that long ago that he was on. December I think? Anyways, it was one of the better interviews I saw Adam do so I hope its not canceled. Plus, I think he’s supposed to sing Music Again and I like that song.

  25. I was looking forward to this show…as it would be good publicity…and Jay is the only male talk show hosts who seems to actually LIKE Adam. (Dave & Conan seemed very disinterested).

FYI – I was SO EXCITED to hear WWFM on WALK Radio this afternoon – Long Island’s #1…and rather stoggy radio station. THAT’S HUGE!

  26. Well I gather Adam is coming to Australia now because the Gay Mardi Gras is on here in Sydney until 6th March as I had heard he was coming here for that!!
Sorry I’m not into the Mardi Gras but I’ll let you know if there’s any info about Adam in the media here!!

  27. Or he is going earlier to subvert fallout over the Susan Boyle comment.

Just came home from work, and it looks as though I’ve missed out on something ‘Adam’.
*cringing*….. What did Adam say about Susan?

  28. Okay, now I can answer my own question. I just took a little journey over to the headlines thread. Yikes, Adam!!!!

Or he is going earlier to subvert fallout over the Susan Boyle comment.

“Just came home from work, and it looks as though I’ve missed out on something ‘Adam’.
*cringing*….. What did Adam say about Susan?”

The latest “gate”, Adam didn’t like Susan’s version of Wild Horses. Now he’s running away to hide in Australia, before all the Susan fans on walkers, carrying pitch-forks, hunt him down and flay him within a inch of his life. In other words, Adam did an interview, was honest, and now he’s in trouble as usual. NOTHING NEW!

  30. Adam keeps putting his foot in his mouth and alienating lots of people. He said he “laughed and laughed” at Susan Boyle. He also (I heard) dissed Americans in the British Press, does anyone know if that’s true? Following up his commnents about killing animals for fur (I didn’t kill it so I get to wear it) I think Adam is sounding like a callous person. Okay I will disappear before I get flayed alive by his fans. I just want to put in my 2 cents. I think he is coming across as a shallow and thoughtless person. Often, and repeatedly. Being honest has nothing to do with it. He’s not showing any kind of restraint or doesn’t seem to care who he offends. This really does seem like a pattern.

  31. The latest “gate”, Adam didn’t like Susan’s version of Wild Horses. I would like to add that ‘pinkpaper’ in which the story ran is a blog and they are writing about a story in GT magazine but GT magazine does not come out until the 24th so we really don’t know what he is quoted or mis-quoted as saying in referenece to SB’s album.

  32. I really can’t blame Adam for dissing Americans since they don’t give gay people rights to marry and other rights as well. It would be kind of dishonest for him to say America is so great, when really he is not treated so well and discriminated against and it is seen as Ok by alot of American citizens. I think the SuBo diss wasn’t a good thing to do at all though. Fur-gate to me the comments were no big deal,if I were an strong animals right activist I wouldn’t like them though. Honestly if I had to kill animals to eat, I might become a vegetarian too.

  33. He also (I heard) dissed Americans in the British Press, does anyone know if that’s true?

oceana – he dissed Americans in terms of their low tolerance of homosexuality. UK & Europe are much more open & accepting than the US which is true.

  34. The latest “gate”, Adam didn’t like Susan’s version of Wild Horses. Thanks for your hilarious recap, bridgett12!! You are so right about ‘trouble’ being nothing new for Adam fans.
However, Adam is always so careful about supporting other artists. I’m really surprised that he would have made a such a negative comment.

  35. I really hope that the “quote” about Susan Boyle is off the mark. Personally I don’t care for SB (never have), you NEVER diss other artists…no matter what. Especially a Brit when you’re going to tour GB & the colonies this month. Not smart at all.

Sometimes it is really hard to be an Adam-fan! Adam shouldn’t speak to any of the media w/o his publicist at this point.

  36. He’s not showing any kind of restraint or doesn’t seem to care who he offends. This really does seem like a pattern.

And it doesn’t really seem like Adam. I wonder how much of this is actually what was stated…… JMHO

  37. BlondeMom,

The Colonies?????? Hahahah….I haven`t heard that term in years!!!

I assure you that there are just as many Brits who agree with Adam and are happy he has the balls to say it, if he did…which I am not sure.

Adam very well might have said these remarks, but don`t you think the timing is suspicious? How about they are trying to make a name for themselves? This publication is tiny! It is only online and a tabloid.

You think Adam makes it hard to be a fan with these mild comments? Imagine being a John Mayer fan! He recently spouted seriously racist and demeaning comments about his ex-girlfriend and is incredibly thoughtless.

    This is a blip.

  38. Oceana,

Not going to flay you…just want examples of Adam`s `repeated` shallow and thoughtlessness?

Yeah it is a lot of nothing. As for whether he said it or not, I really don’t care. Truthfully, I can absolutely see him giving his honest opinion about her music. I don’t see what the fuss is all about. I just don’t see how the opinion of one American would matter to England’s angel. Considering how she’s lambasted daily in England’s papers, I seriously doubt she read’s any of them. I am looking forward to Adam’s next interview, so we can have another “gate”. Maybe we should start a “gate-of-the-month club”, we all can be called gatekeepers and have a number.

  40. I can’t keep up with the “gates” anymore:Album cover-gate,ama-gate,gma,kimmel-gate,adampamboobie-gate,shallow-gate, crotch-gate, hangover-gate,rude cell phone-gate,fur-gate,subo cat lady-gate and last but not least maybe leno cancellation-gate!!!!!!! Am sure I missed some.

  41. LoL, I love being an Adam fan. I get a kick out of seeing American heads explode. Adam said from day 1 “I’m not for everyone” so if you want to jump on the train enjoy the ride if not don’t or get off. Adam is doing just fine. As more fans jump on board they will already know who he is and like most people don’t ready care about all the faux drama. If people really cared about all the BS I would think artists like Madonna,MJ, Britny and whole list of them wouldn’t have any fans. The media loves them some Adam, oh they’ll knock him around a little but they’ll pick up their boy back up real quick For years the media has dissed AI for producing cookie cutters now they have Adam to play with and he sure likes to play with them too. He is an interviewers dream.

  42. And Adam supports other artists. So he is in the clear about SUBO then.

You forgot “Pluck-gate”, “what the hell in on Adam’s shoulder gate”, tear-drop gate and “baby/woman gate.

  44. Gay Times, which did the interview, is a regular print magazine, and not a tabloid. It’s roughly equivalent to Out magazine in the U.S. I wouldn’t call it “tiny” either, though not I’m not sure what its circulation is.

And like Out magazine, I remember that the preview article (or was it the article that ran in the print version) made it seem like Adam had a sailor mouth and a huge ego. When the actual interview appeared online, it became evident that they had strung a bunch of disparate quotes from all over the interview together, cut out the interviewer’s prompts, and just generally made him come across like a completely different person in their edited version from the online interview.
In other words I’m just gonna hold my horses (wild horses ha) till the full article comes out

  45. Of all the Adam-gates, the only ones to hit outside the Idol bubble was AMA-gate and Cellphone-gate. Oh and album cover and Kiss Kesha-gate. Puts the blogging into perspective doesn’t it??

  46. Like the interview on Mix 107. I like that he gives props to David Cook for being his inspiration. I hear this interview and again the verbiage of what he supposedly said about Susan Boyle (even though it was about her version of Wild Horses and her Album and not about her character and appearance) just doesn’t mesh. We will all find out sooner or later. If he did say it, all the news sources will pick up on it. Also liked how in the Mix 107 interview he again stated how happy he was to perform on stage with Allison and Kris.

  47. I just wish it wouldn’t get posted until the story was straight.

Hey, I got the tip from a source who was sure of her info…until she wasn’t. If there had been an “I don’t know” initially, I would not have posted it.

  48. will I don’t know what your discussion thread is about.. but I recently had a subscription to a mag that went under. They continued to mail renewals and email me until they literally shut their doors. They did this to try and sell off the subscriptions to a sister publication, so you never know.

  49. And like Out magazine, I remember that the preview article (or was it the article that ran in the print version) made it seem like Adam had a sailor mouth and a huge ego. This isn’t the whole article, but I believe it’s the whole section where Adam’s quote appears, so you can see it in context:

    http://www.gaytimes.co.uk/Magazine/InThisIssue-articleid-6473-sectionid-726.html

  50. Even in context, even though I love Adam, it was still a really douchebag thing to say.

  51. I stil don’t see the difference in him stating repeatedly that he does not like Nickleback.

I have never seen him comment on Nickelback, but if all he said was that he didn’t like them there would be a world of difference. He didn’t just say he didn’t like Susan’s music, he said he laughed so hard he cried it was so horrendous. That is not giving an opinion, that is just being cruel.

  52. Personally I don’t believe everything that I read. If I did, then Kris never went to haiti and Adam “laughed so hard that he cried”.

  53. Rereading the article in Gay News , UK- Adam said the ‘treatment of the song’ made him laugh, etc-nothing personable about the Susan Boyle-he dosen’t like her music-but he likes her. Fair enough.Agree or don’t agree. I never heard ‘Wild Horses’ by anyone else, so I love Susan’s song. I also like another track but that is only two from the entire album, so -to each his own. We all have our own tastes. We are all individuals.

  54. Personally I don’t believe everything that I read. If I did, then Kris never went to haiti and Adam “laughed so hard that he cried”.

Um…the one article was a blogger completely misunderstanding the facts and not seeking clarification, the other was an interview directly with Adam..Are you implying they made up the interview, that Adam didn’t say that?

  55. There was just an ad for Leno during the Olympics and Adam’s photo was shown as one of the guests in the first week. Simon’s, too.

  56. I just saw a commercial for the Jay Leno show and they showed a picture of Adam as a guest for next week, right before Sarah Palin.

  57. Y’all beat me on the Leno commercial. Conflicted between my desire to see Adam and my abhorrence for Leno. I hate the new commercials: “Get back, get back, get back to where you once belonged.”

However, if Adam and Palin were going to be on the same show…I’d pay big U.S. American dollars to see that!

  58. Um…the one article was a blogger completely misunderstanding the facts and not seeking clarification, the other was an interview directly with Adam..Are you implying they made up the interview, that Adam didn’t say that?

    That is 100% possible.
The more you read print media the more you understand that they make it up as they go. If it sells (and boy does this one have legs) then it is fair game.

  59. ya i just saw the adam picture on leno’s promo-im sure hes pretaping it..although i hope hes on the show where palin is still, that would be huge

  60. Um…the one article was a blogger completely misunderstanding the facts and not seeking clarification, the other was an interview directly with Adam..Are you implying they made up the interview, that Adam didn’t say that?

British papers are not exactly known their journalistic integrity. This publication could hold as much water as The Examiner for all we know. I am more than implying that something doesn’t sound right here. I could see adam getting a little snarky about Subo, but from everything that I’ve read here, he doesn’t talk like this. Some folks here are commenting that he could have said it differently – I believe he did. I also think the interviewer stretched the truth.. or in AI language.. “He made it his own”.

My favorite quote that makes me go huh?! is

““I love Muse,” Adam enthuses. “I’m a huge fan and I think Matt’s voice is beautiful. I was beside myself when I heard they were willing to give up the song for me. It’s called Soaked, which here in America means wasted, or drunk. ‘

Personally I never heard ‘soaked’ used as a term for drunk.

    Oh… and

“Hostility escalated when the (actually ace) cover of Adam’s space-themed debut album leaked days later’
People hated the cover, mocked him & swore that they would never buy the album, but I never saw people being hostile towards him for his decision about the cover.

  61. Adam is totally correct about “Wild Horses”. She sucks all the life out of that song. It is almost as bad as Mary J. Blige covering “Stairway to Heaven”. He is just saying what many are thinking.

  62. Oh, Adam. Bad, off-putting, shallow, callous, cruel, BAD Adam – why do I still love you so?

Oh, yeah – you can sing like an angel, wail like the devil, you exude sex and take risks. I like that – clearly, not everyone does. It’s enough for me – after that, he could be a raging *sshole as far as I’m concerned. (I don’t think he is AT ALL, incidentally – but probably other artists I’ve liked have been or are.)

I don’t THINK Adam does/says things to intentionally piss people off, but I also don’t think he’s going to start second-guessing himself to death, and I actually like that too.

  63. I don’t see what the big deal is with Adam and his opinion of Subo’s album…I mean he is intitled to his opinion, and I certainly agree with it. For what I like her album sucks!!! I am sure Adam’s album has gotten negative comments from people also.

I totally agree with this. And I am one of those who believe he said it differently and that the interviewer stretched the truth to make it ‘newsworthy’. The whole comment just does not ring true coming from Adam. Again JMHO……

  65. Anyway, I hope he will still be on Jay Leno. I wonder if Sarah Palin’s appearance had anything to do with him possibly not attending. He might want to share a stage or a couch with her, given her views on things. Maybe he’s making a stance? Then again, maybe he’s just going to Australia.

I guess time will tell, as it does with everything.

  66. Here is my take on what might happen on Leno…If Palin is there, it will be a quick hello at the chair with Adam…how ya doin’, then he’ll sing. Palin will take up the majority of the show. Or, there will be no “hello” to Adam…just the song …or the song will be pre-taped ahead…or of course he won’t appear and the date will be changed again because of the Palin appearance. (I’m probably wrong on all counts!).

“Why are we having this discussion both here and in the headlines thread?? Weird.”

Because it’s Adam were talking about, and it’s obvious none of the other Idols stir the pot like Adam does, whether the article is true or not. I can’t wait till he goes overseas, I imagine it’s going to be some really interesting interviews being relayed back to America. The Aussies are going to love his free spirit.

Adam suffers from diarrhea of the mouth, and as a result his words occasionally outrace his brain. I don’t think he is a callous person, but he does show a lack of tact sometimes, like in the case of his SuBo comments. And the media, because they (and we) love a negative story, are more likely to pick up on this kind of stuff than the good. For example, I’ll bet the cell phone story got more hits than his visit to the LA school for donorschoose.org.

SuBo-gate will blow over, but I wish Adam would just process his thoughts a little more before he speaks. (Would probably save MJ a lot of work, too — she’s cleaning up the headline thread right now.)

  69. I’m not bothered if he doesn’t go on Leno on the 2nd because I couldn’t get tickets for the 2nd. I logged in and requested the 2nd and I gave a few “second choices.” I ended up with the 11th. So….come on the 11th! Either way, I’ll go to the show. Maybe someone else good will be on. The last time I went I saw Cat Stevens. He still sounds great!

As far as the SuBo quote, he did say he was happy for her success. So, it’s not like he doesn’t wish her well. He just didn’t like her album.

Subo should be making Christmas albums. I think that is her wheelhouse.

  70. I stil don’t see the difference in him stating repeatedly that he does not like Nickleback.

Well, it pretty much shows that, to many, Susan B is not equivalent to a regular, professional musician, who would be plenty open to criticism, no matter what — Adam, Kris, Danny G, etc etc, for example, have all got plenty of criticism for their music, and while fans *disagree* with the criticism, I don’t think you see many people saying that it’s some kind of scandal or immoral or deeply impolitic act that some other random musician criticizes them.

That just shows to me that to many Susan B is someone who should be protected, someone who is not eligible for the kind of adverse comment others are open to — and thus she’s not actually a full-fledged professional musician. It’s the way you would treat a child or a fragile old person or somebody damaged. That attitude is no compliment to Boyle, in my opinion.

  71. tls62
“I agree with some others here tonight…Palin and Adam would be epic. I would pay money to see Adam talk with her and have Neil in the audience tweeting.”

That would be the right word, to describe the meeting between Sarah and Adam. I don’t think she could resist sneaking a peek at Adam’s “goods”. You never know she might be one of those “closet Glamberts”.

  72. Not sure if this was posted yet, but The Tonight Show preview shown tonight during the olympics showed Adam and Palin in the promo – so I’m betting it is still on.

  73. tls62
“I agree with some others here tonight…Palin and Adam would be epic. I would pay money to see Adam talk with her and have Neil in the audience tweeting.”

OMG – that would be priceless. Just make it Neil and Adam vs Palin.

  74. MJ — thanks for Adam/Leno update, and future updates. I’m scheduled to attend and look forward to seeing Adam. Palin will be interesting too, as she is a great interviewee, as is Shaun White, but Adam was the real draw. I’m bringing a non fan friend — and when I told Her Adam might be cancelled she said “No, I just wanted to see Adam!” New fans everyday!

  75. well, i laughed until i cried when he sang a bit of “wild horses” a la susan on a san diego radio station right after the albums came out. yay for adam. score.

(btw, “wild horses” is a rolling stone song. and susan’s rendition is a bit like your elderly auntie singing it at a family holiday get-together. don’t get me wrong, she’s a nice lady, her youtube “i dreamed a dream” was a wonderful feel-good inspiring moment and best of success to her yada yada – but – her album is woefully short of any type of original material and is pablum for the walmart masses. even her look-up-to idol elaine – who she aspired to be like – dissed her publicly.)

  76. I dont think Adam is at the point in his career where he can start dissing other people. Its not like his album is doing better.

“I agree with some others here tonight…Palin and Adam would be epic. I would pay money to see Adam talk with her and have Neil in the audience tweeting.”

OMG – that would be priceless. Just make it Neil and Adam vs Palin.

ITA. Adam and Neil vs. Palin = hilarity. I could see Adam talking to her in hippy-speak about love and tolerance, and trying to figure out whether they have compatible zodiac signs. Neil would snark and bury her in sarcasm. And Jay Leno would stand by helplessly as his show was taken over by his guests. Pure joy!

It won’t happen, but a girl can dream … :)

Yes. SuBo reminds me of the Will Ferrel/Ana Gasteyer SNL recurring skit involving the “Culps” – the middle school music teachers who would perform concerts for the kids while singing rap and such in this cheesy, Casio synthesizer style.

I would pay big money to see this … especially Neil’s snark. LOL

  80. I bet the guy forgot to put end quotes after terrible album. Just my guess.

Adam tweeted that he was misquoted so something’s amiss.

  81. well, i laughed until i cried when he sang a bit of “wild horses” a la susan on a san diego radio station right after the albums came out. yay for adam. score.

Now see that story just makes me think less of Adam, too. It’s not that he can’t critique anyone (though he should tread carefully before he starts criticizing other artists, or it will come back to haunt him). But to laugh at people, or ridicule and imitate them, is worse than honest critique of their work. To laugh at people does show a callousness (to me). Especially to laugh at someone like Susan Boyle, who is vulnerable to such ridicule, is a cheap shot imo.

He needs to learn that as a celebrity, his words are magnified and they reach a lot of people. Unless he wants to be someone like Howard Stern who is a shock jock.

Adam’s compared a lot to Lady Gaga, but I haven’t heard of LG dissing or ridiculing anyone. She pushes the envelope in art, but seems to take her talent seriously and to respect others. And she’s gaining a lot of respect everywhere. Adam could learn from her.

  82. I bet the guy forgot to put end quotes after terrible album. Just my guess. Adam tweeted that he was misquoted so something’s amiss.

Folks, it’s time to bury the latest ….GATE once and for all! Woohooo! ;-)

    Via Twitter by Adam:
Oh joy! MisQuoted again… Becoming quite funny actually.

  83. I really can’t blame Adam for dissing Americans since they don’t give gay people rights to marry and other rights as well.

And it’s wrong to lump all Americans together that way. It’s a huge country, we have areas like the south, we are not small like Britain. Some states do allow gays the right to marry or at least have civil unions. In most elections there are about 45% who disagree with the prevailing decisions. Like when Bush was elected, half of us did not want him, yet we were all tarred with the same brush. There are many, many liberal minded people in America, and to put down “Americans” is cheap and easy. To do so in a foreign country is even worse, imo. Adam should specify who he’s putting down and not just put down everyone in a country.

So he says he was “misquoted again.” Funny how often that happens to him. I don’t see all artists continuously being misquoted like that, he must just be a lightening rod for mistreatment.

Yep. I thought it was bullshit all along- that’s why I didn’t bother to comment. Another gate down. Next…. :)

  85. Yep. I thought it was bullshit all along- that’s why I didn’t bother to comment. Another gate down. Next….

So all Adam has to say is “I was misquoted again” and all is well?

I think I have one word for Adam: “glib”. I think that sums up what I don’t like about him. So whatever, he will continue to be “misquoted” and persecuted by the press, poor innocent soul. Or not.

(Glib: readily fluent, often thoughtlessly, superficially, or insincerely so: a glib talker; glib answers. .)

  86. He didn’t even say what he believes he actually said, and you want it to die? Also, why are you going to take the world about what was said in the interview from someone who does numerous interviews every day versus the person who was taking notes and probably recorded the interview? Celebrities love to claim they are misquoted when they say something stupid, but it is rare that it is true.

Pretty much. What else do you think should be done in a smart way so that he does not draw attention to it and have it all over the media?

As far as glib goes… it also means..1. talkative, loquacious; facile, smooth. This is one of the qualities that I like about him. And at least he talks and has opinions more than I can say about most PC celebs these days. He is in the media for good or bad because he has a view point and can speak to it.

Those are synonyms of glib, not the definition of glib….glib is never used in a positive connotation

Yes, that’s right…all is well. It was yesterday and it is today. Once again, I knew it didn’t sound like his words all along. You can have any word you want for Adam. It doesn’t make it true. My thoughts on Adam are entirely different. We just feel entirely different about him. It’s no big deal. I don’t need everyone to like or appreciate everyone that I like.

Actually, celebrities get misquoted all the time. It doesn’t just happen to Adam. There are literally thousands of examples. Just a few recently:

On Friday, we reported on People Magazine’s interview excerpt from Stern, in which Brad Pitt allegedly said Tom Cruise Hitler-assassination film Valkyrie was “a ridiculous movie”. Within hours, it seems one of Brad’s reps contacted a few outlets and claimed that the statement was a misquote. A spokesman said, “Brad has never seen Valkyrie so this is not accurate.”

Ricky Martin fans were shocked (or maybe not) last week when Puerto Rican magazine TV Aqui hinted towards bisexuality by quoting the singer as saying his heart “could belong to a man or a woman.”
However it turns out that when translating the video footage of the quote, Ricky didn’t quite say that. Instead, TheAdocate.com reports, he says: “Eh, the heart of Ricky Martin? Look, whether it has or doesn’t have a male owner or a female owner, I have never spoken about that topic, so don’t…”

DETAILS editor-in-chief Dan Peres has his tail between his legs after his November cover boy, Ben Affleck , was misquoted in an article by Bart Blasengame. In the December editor’s letter, Peres apologizes for quoting Affleck as saying, “I’ve gone out and directed a movie and made it really [bleep]ing good,” referring to “Gone Baby Gone.” “Affleck never made such a statement,” Peres writes. “In addition, the article implied that Affleck might leave Los Angeles if the movie failed. Affleck also never made this statement.” A rep for Details told us Affleck and Peres are “good friends. Dan realized there were things taken out of context, and a correction was made.”

  90. Definition of synonym

synonym – Different words with similar meanings and therefore can be interchangeable.

  91. I suspect the quotes we are reading are not quite accurate. The article we read was not the original interview, from my understanding, but instead it was a few paragraphs about an upcoming interview that would come out in about a month. Yes?

Also, whoever said reporters all use tape recorders now was wrong. I worked for a newspaper reporter in the UK for a short time I can tell you that is not true. Some people tape, some write it down. That doesn’t mean Adam was misquoted, but I wanted to clear that up.

I suspect Adam said he did not like her album and did not like her cover of Wild Horses. Either way, it’s not worth losing sleep over. I do however, think his quotes were chopped up and strung together in a way to generate the most interest possible for the upcoming article.

Also, having lived in Europe for 5 years, I will say overall more of the general population is more relaxed about sexuality. Probably due to the fact that fundamentalist don’t have a foothold into the political system over there.

The US has advantages that Europe doesn’t. There is still the wonderful idea in the US that you can be whatever you want, regardless of who you are. But there is nothing wrong in saying that European people in many European countries are more progressive when it comes to their views and acceptance on sexuality.

  92. Actually, celebrities get misquoted all the time. It doesn’t just happen to Adam. There are literally thousands of examples. Just a few recently:

Those aren’t recent, most of them are from a year ago, and the ben affleck was from 2007. The Ricky Martin example was not from an interview, and why are we to believe Brad Pitt for example over the journalist?

  93. synonym – Different words with similar meanings and therefore can be interchangeable.

Yes, synonyms can sometimes replace each other, but not always because they are different words and have slightly different meanings. Glib and loquacious both mean a very talkative expressive person, but loquacious has positive connotations while glib has negative connotations. In no way would it be correct to say that Adam was glib if you were referring to his talkative nature in a positive light.

    I would and I do.

  95. So all Adam has to say is “I was misquoted again” and all is well?

It certainly ain’t that suprising nowadays that the Press likes to “twist” a celebrity quote to make it “juicer” on their blogs/stories for self-serving interests? Hello!

Being an Adam fan who had practically watched and read almost all of his interviews, I can certainly tell that he has almost always been most professional and respectful to his fellow artists. Hell….he even tweeted and promoted countless artists on Twitter for crying out loud!

  96. Another day, another Adam-gate. Adam said he was misquoted, that’s good enough for me. Adam has been straight-forward about his life, both good and bad. Why would he lie about this? Whether people choose to believe him, that’s up to them. As for me, it never was an issue whether he said or not.

  97. OMG. When I closed the headlines thread last night, it was NOT A CUE to keep posting the same way in another thread! I should have closed BOTH last night.

  98. That Subo quote from Adam sounded about as authentic as an email from a Nigerian prince!
