American Idol alum Adam Lambert dropped into the Late Late Show with James Corden from home to chat and sing his song “On the Moon.”

Adam Lambert Shares Thoughts on Peaceful Protests Against Police Brutality

On a serious note, Adam shared his thoughts on the recent protests against police brutality sweeping the world, “You know, I have run the range of emotions,” he said. “A lot of what I saw made me angry. I know I’m not the only one.” He continued, “It’s really interesting that it took something like this to allow us white folks to have a little bit of an inkling of an understanding of what black Americans have been going through in our country for way too long.”

“The fact that the police were brutal to peaceful protesters of all different colors really opened our eyes,” he said. “It’s an amazing time, even though there is a lot of violence and a lot of fear, It’s amazing how many people have come together to do these peaceful protests all over the world now. Adam spoke about attending a protest in Hollywood over the weekend. “It was beautiful,” he said.

The Feel Good Foundation’s Focus is LGBTQ Issues

Adam went on to speak about his foundation, The Feel Something Foundation, which focuses on concerns of the LGBTQ community. “I want to focus on homelessness, on mental health issues, and I want to do some outreach in the arts as well.” The foundation is currently donating money to the LGBTQ Freedom Fund which helps folks get out of jail who are arrested for peaceful protesting.

He notes that queer people, in particular trans people of color have a “really risky time being in police custody.”

Promoting Venus in the Age of Covid 19

Adam shared his thoughts about  promoting a new album while the world is shut down. “The priorities here are people’s health and safety.” But on the flip side, Adam is really hopeful that since everyone is quarantining with nothing to do, “Velvet is a great album, it’s a mood, it’s something that hopefully makes people feel good and inspired and strong.”

After the interview, Adam stuck around to perform his song “On the Moon” from his new album, Velvet. He describes the song as the “slow jam, baby making music,” qualifying, of course that he’s not going to be making babies any time…” The singer and his guitarist decided to do it as a stripped down acoustic version, kind of went a little jazz, I had some white wine and was feeling good.”
