On Thursday, March 17 (8:00-10:00 live ET/tape-delayed PT) ONE singer will be sent home on American Idol leaving a Top 5. That is, after the singers perform songs that America chooses (according to this tweet). The “America’s Choice” theme next week will probably be songs chosen from the twitter selections American Idol has been soliciting all season.
As far as guest stars next week are concerned, FOX announced that Grammy Award nominee and Idol alum Adam Lambert will be returning home to the Idol stage. That’s the good news. The bad news is the FOX press release describes the appearance as “a very special final performance” which SOUNDS like the season 8 singer may not return for the finale. Somebody on my twitter timeline mentioned that a friend of hers in the Rocky Horror Picture Show cast (Adam plays Eddie) is busy the night of the April 7 finale. So, maybe that, or just the singer’s busy tour and promotional schedule could keep him away. Or maybe he’ll return to the finale, but not as a performer. We’ll have to wait and see.
Also, the press release only mentions a performance from Adam–no mentoring or judging. But still, he IS performing next week, and that’s pretty damn exciting.
On American Idol Thursday night, the Top Six finalists were announced, including MacKenzie Bourg, Trent Harmon, Tristan McIntosh, Dalton Rapattoni, La’Porsha Renae and Sonika Vaid.
Ryan Seacrest revealed that Lee Jean, Sonika Vaid and Avalon Young were the three finalists who received the fewest votes. Judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban determined that Sonika Vaid would be saved, leaving Lee Jean and Avalon Young
Next week, , will return for a very special final performance.
