Adam Lambert is in the UK rehearsing with Queen for the tour that begins on June 18 in Chicago. In the meantime, he’s out and about and last night, he attended the Glamour UK awards. The singer presented XFactor UK winners, Little Mix, with the Girl Band of the Year award

He also walked the red carpet, of course, and in this interview, from Kevin Hughes, he talks about the new album he’s working on. “I think people are going to be surprised and excited by it.” When asked if the record would mark a change in direction, Adam answered, “A little bit, here and there, yeah! Maybe so. But still me.”
About singing with Queen, Adam insists he’s singing the music as “it was intended to be sung as opposed to mimicking. I feel that would be a little tacky.” Freddie Mercury, the late Queen lead singer is “definitely an icon of mine.” Adam said, “He’s one in a million. There will never be another Freddie Mercury. He’s inspiring. He’s made me fall in love with Rock n Roll.”
“They’re so sweet, they’re so paternal and warm,” Adam said about the members of Queen. “When it all clicks, and it all gels and we’re up there, and a song really takes off, everybody is just…there’s a lot of joy…”
The band scoffed at the idea of incorporating a Freddie Mercury hologram into the set, a la Michael Jackson. So, concert goers, you don’t have to worry about that!
