  1. It seems like he reined in a wail there at the end ( 3:20), lol. He looks soooo good in this video. Anybody else having trouble turning up the sound?

  2. It cracks me up how OTT he enunciates “sexual” the first verse. Other than his otherworldly voice, my favorite thing about Adam is that he makes me smile :D

  3. man, multiple threads confuse me. I never know where to post!!!

Okay..why does his face look bloated? Lack of sleep, too much drinking?? :-)

I love him! That is all. He’s so awesome. I love the tongue coming out on the high notes. I love his little speech at the end!

He always looks like he has a blast on stage! (well except maybe the AMAs lol)

  4. I REALLY love this, he looks soooo good. His eyes just stand out, and his hair is getting longer on top, and it kinda flops over ala Elvis, I thought the ending was abrupt, kinda like he didnt know where he was going with the song, but knowing Adam, he intended it that way. He was a little OTT but not too much. This was a great performance, I liked it better than most of the Fever performances I have seen.

  5. I love it! I love him and all of his tongue-wagging wails, campy body language and facial expressions, and general exuberance in entertaining. I truly believe he was put on earth to entertain!

  6. Yay! Great video, great voice, great performance, great audience, great, great, great!! Thanks for posting, mj!

Dancers are not bad. Kinda liken it.

    There were dancers?

  8. Adam’s band is awsome. No keyboarist, no problem, Monte just adds effects and they rock it more!

  9. I also love all the people near the front taking video and pictures!!! :-)

  10. lorismile, I found your observation interesting. I also noticed that his face was little bloated when he performed, but was perfectly normal when he was on the red carpet. I can’t find any logical explanation..

  11. Yeah, the performance of this song HAS to be big, OTT, campy. But I bet somehow, down the line, Adam will figure out a different arrangement of the song and make it a crooning 70s Elton John like ballad, maybe closer to Gaga’s original. When he’s bored at the end of the summer tour.

I think Fever and Soaked are his two campiest, most purposefully ridiculous performances.

I saw some griping about the dancers. I like them, I think they’re really pro, and the choreography allows Adam to join in very briefly, focus on his vocals, be at the center, and improv his own moves. Maybe for Fever it would have been better to have only the backing track rather than the band, as it sounded slightly hollow, musically, without Cam. But I love the band and dancers. Plus, the dancers’ costumes are a big improvement over Japan.

  12. So has this been discussed…where was Cam at?

The audio sounded like it was being recorded right near him. You couldn’t hear the audience like you could in the other video, and the band was harder to hear. How many artists sound like that live? Remarkable.

For me, he can get as campy as he wants and I’ll never complain. :)

  13. Knowing Adam he knows he has to camp/amp it up more because he’s performing before celebrities who are used to these kind of shows…It is very hard to impress blase jaded people.. I love love his performance…..

  14. Great Fever!!! Adam’s face to me looks different in every situation, even minutes apart. He is amazing!! Never ever have seen anyone like him in my lifetime. Love the dancers too.

  15. I love OTT Campy Adam….if you are going to go OTT Campy, I could not think of a better place to do it than at a GLAAD show! :)

  16. So has this been discussed…where was Cam at?

Last time I checked she was on a cruzade to get to Germany. Doing some shows with her band. I guess she´ll stay there for the week and them meet up with Adam and the rest of the band for the saturday gig at GAY.

  17. I posted this in the other thread but this one seems more active. In case you were curious about my avatar…:)

It will make your life have meaning lol.I love these videos…
So yeah, that’s wher I got my avatar.

    sorry off-topic :/

  18. I also noticed that his face was little bloated when he performed, but was perfectly normal when he was on the red carpet. I can’t find any logical explanation.

I think it was just the camera.

I especially loved seeing sooooo many men in the audience on their feet smiling and dancing!! :)

  19. I especially loved seeing sooooo many men in the audience on their feet smiling and dancing!!

    IKR???? So awesome!

I keep commenting…..sorry …I love his bouncy hair!! I love his cute sexy dancing at the very beginning before the dancers come on stage (although you can see it better in the other video) and his sexy faces at the very beginning. Okay, I’ll stop gushing and just watch now lol

  20. First I loved the performance and I like the Dancers and his voice was spot on….but when did Adam all of sudden become southern. “Its over its the grand Finale come on” Then goes into one of the popest songs ever written……Love him.

  21. Love Adam……….hate the dancers. Nothing, but nothing, is going to make me enjoy them. They look tacky and just take up Adam’s space on the stage.

  22. F***k! He’s gorgeous! Love the 50’s “waterfall” hair (it probably wasn’t deliberate LOL!) I really like when he joins the dancers for a few steps. He sounded wonderful and the audience was into him, lots of dancing men. There is no one like him.

  23. alert: If you get Larry King Live right now…on commercial…when they return Adam’s name will be brought up regards to him being a mentor. Judges are on the show.

  24. Well, kinda short. Showed a little clip of him mentoring, then everyone chimed in on how great he was.

    volcanic ash cloud getting bigger

  25. Ryan and Randy has 2 more yr contract, Ellen has 5 more, Kara has a couple. AI is not gonna end soon.

  26. Thanks for the videos – love Adam’s performances. Each one is different enough to make me hear the song differently. I’m ok with the dancers – maybe not loving them but I do like it when he joins them in a few steps. My eyes are generally on him and sometimes the other members of his band. I am happy to see Adam happy and doing what he loves.

  27. This is the first time I saw any of the GLAAD videos. He is so campy, but I don’t care I think he is adorable and sexy. His hair pretty much took on a life of it’s own, but I loved it! More bounce to the ounce~he’s really got good hair!

  28. finally LOL he looked very sexy, especially toward the middle of the performance…I think the dancers looked ok, it would have been nice of their outfits would have been more uniform but thats just me…
also, taht crowd wasnt the most enthusiastic was it? lots of ppl sitting down and a small group standing in the front but not a lot of cheers (dont know if it was the audio of the clip though) and not a lot of ppl dancing…oh well, he looked like he was having fun :)

  29. About that hair…loved it when it was flopping and he tried to push it up with his fingers.. I’ll bet he could feel a tickle on his scalp when the hair was moving.

Did I just say the above?lol

Funny, about the crowd….it almost seemed like it wasn’t “his crowd” if you know what I mean. I really think the glamberts and all the somewhat crazy fans are his people. Cheering, screaming, laughing, singing…so much fun. That’s me anyway and I think that he feels the love from us. He says many times (and moreso recently) how he loves his fans.

  30. This performance made me laugh, in a good way. I think he just wanted to show them how OTT he can be. The little speech at the end really moved me. Yeah, Adam is not a safe gay, and he will never be one. He’s going to force himself down to eveybody’s throat, like it or not.

  31. Honestly, I don’t think the performance was that OTT. It was just an electric performance of one of his songs. He’s a showman. He’s Adam. There are so many sides to him. If you don’t like this side, wait 5 minutes for his quiet Broken Open side. There is something for everyone.

  32. He’s going to force himself down to eveybody’s throat, like it or not.

    ummmm mind wandering into visuals…..

  33. I actually think it’s pretty cool that people got up to dance at all. This is an awards ceremony, usually people don’t get up, at those kind of events, for performances.

  34. yikes. not a fan of this one. bad dancers once again. vocals not strong or relaxed. strange. how much longevity in campy performances? i want him to dig a little deeper, although it is he who is always saying “it’s not that deep.” hmmm…

  35. He’s going to force himself down to eveybody’s throat, like it or not.

    LMAO…little much dont u think?
imho I think this performance is quite tame compared to his AMA performance and he’s dressed quite conservatively (which I really like cuz its elegant and he looks handsome) which surprised me a little…i bet that was his intention

  36. Honestly, it seems to me that this one only appears more campy because the video quality (and probably the event itself) is more lit up than we’re use to seeing. So we see more vivid make up, and eye expressions, and his moves are more pronounced.

Granted, his moves were more pronounced, but still. :-) The lighting… I don’t know, it’s weird to me. He’s beautiful though, so there’s that reason to love the excessive light, I guess. lol

  37. Baddabing
Adam only has a few songs that he performs sorta OTT campy, Fever, Strut and Soaked.

  38. He’s going to force himself down to eveybody’s throat, like it or not.

I’m not getting this statement. In what way is he forcing himself down people’s throats?

I don’t have a problem with the dancers; kinda like Fosse hit a glitter box. Though, I think the stage is bit small for them, and personally believe that if you use dancers, there needs to be at least six. Any less and it seems empty and half-assed.

  39. Smeggin, that may be, but I am getting tired of seeing a select few songs performed in the same campy way time after time. i’d like to see him just deliver an honest, funky Strut without the campy gay “stuff.” The last performance I liked was Idol and the Ellen birthday really stood out for me as well. Just wanting a little variety!!

  40. LOL. So campy and cute but this was a situation where his acoustic set would have been smarter. Funny, he’s campiest when he is exposed to the most non-fan audience. He doesn’t show that “Broken Open” side to new fans much.

    Horrendous dancers.

  41. Oh goodness, how I love Fever! I love his hair too. I think I have watched more videos of him doing Fever than any other song besides WWFM. It’s just so much damn fun. He has a ball doing it too!

  42. i’d like to see him just deliver an honest, funky Strut without the campy gay “stuff.”

LOL I was kind of thinking that too but since this was for a GLAAD ceremony I opted not to say anything but yeah I agree that some of his vocal inflections were too OTT and theatrical it almost seemed like he was playing a character in the beginning…he has said it himself that when hes onstage he’s an exaggerated version of himself…it would be nice if he were just himself lol I mean he doesnt have to pretend anymore..its fun occasionally but he does it in quite a few songs…FYE, DTRW, Fever, Strut (although not as much) and IIHY (but to a lesser degree here)…
but I also think we have this impression because we’ve seen like way too many of his performances :p

Ok I heard a different song….I fully understand feeling that the performance was campy but the vocals were fantastic. That is the one thing that really stood out to me. So have to disagree with you on the vocals being bad or not strong/relaxed. But Diversity of opinion is a good thing too. :-)

  44. i’d like to see him just deliver an honest, funky Strut without the campy gay “stuff.”

    Gay stuff, lol!

  45. Horrendous dancers.

LOL I dont think its their dancing thats horrendous, its more disparity because of the lack of uniformity (both in the clothing and some of the movements) it just looks a bit sloppy…like it was put together really fast, which Im sure it was and not very original.
The dancers need to step it up for his tour…
but on a positive note he did more choreography in this performance, which I would love to see more of since hes a terrific dancer…
plus dancing and singing is great exercise! but its really hard to do…there was a part where he was gonna go for those crazy high notes he did but then backed off…he was probably out of air…if he practices a little more Im sure he can pull it off :)

  46. I thought the vocals sounded really good…the sound is just very dry in this video :/

  47. Adam looks great, but I hate the dancers just look nasty. They are probably perfectly nice girls. But the look like street walkers. But he always sounds good.

  48. When criticizing Adam’s performance, i.e. campy, OTT, exaggerated facial expressions, it would be helpful to consider your perspective vs his audience. You are seeing a film close-up, right in his face. The audience to whom he was playing was large and very few were close to him. People trained in the theater project so that the person in the last row gets a good show. That necessitates OTT makeup and exaggerated facial expressions. I find it interesting that some people never fail to offer negative comments about his performances. It makes me wonder why you torture yourself watching someone you don’t like. He doesn’t expect everyone to like him and I feel reasonably sure he wouldn’t be torn up if you don’t.

See I agree….These are not really Television performance these are Stage performances that people happen to be videoing. So he is gearing his performance to stage not TV or Video…Stage performance should be OTT so that the people in the audience can get the feeling of the performance. I am sure to those in the Audience it didn’t seem that OTT. In the video however every eyebrow raise and smirk is amplified so when he exaggerates it so it is Stage appropriate it come across as OTT Campy…IMHO

  50. To each their own about the dancers but, um, “gay stuff?” LOL. He was closing the GLAAD media award, and before you say it was a straightlaced (cough cough) ceremony, the hosts effin opened with a drag like rendition of Tik Tok, Telephone, and Ricky Martin songs, along with a dancing flash mob.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R45zK2aCSoI

I think Adam’s going for OTT here, what is still acceptable by straight or faux lesbian females. Some of Adam’s stage moves actually remind me of Mick Jagger (and no, I’m NOT saying he’s Jagger), as an example of a straight (ok, straightISH) male swagger onstage.

And no, acoustic would have put that crowd to sleep. It was the right move to start with a rock number like Music Again, and then end with Fever and dancers.

And street walkers? They’re dance costumes LOL! People wear FAR less on Dancing with the Stars and SYTYCD. I like the feathered cape.

  51. i’d like to see him just deliver an honest, funky Strut without the campy gay “stuff.”

But he’s being his honest self everytime he steps on a stage. Isn’t that all we should ask of performers? If we start asking them to perform our vision, it really isn’t THEIR art any longer. It becomes OUR art at that point. Adam throws his true self into every performance….what you see is what he’s feeling at that moment. That’s why all of his performances vary to some degree. Each song is never sang or danced to the same way twice. This is the kind of artist that appeals to me. I want to see their honest side, not just a side of them they THINK we want to see.

  52. Well, blogs are just for discussions and not demanding they perform what we want. My favorite Fever was the iheartradio. I thought it was perfect. I also loved Leno Sleepwalker. I like some campy, but variety I guess. I’m still a fan even though I don’t like everything he does.

I thought the point of Adam’s speech was that there was diversity within the gay community. If you are gay, does that mean you necessarily want really campy and crotch grabs and sleezy dancers? I’m genuinely curious when someone says….we’ll it WAS a gay event so campy is what “they” want.

Maybe you have missed Adam being mashed in the media about being to gay, not gay enough, way to flamboyant ect… What he was saying is there is diversity in all things even in being gay. Just let people be themselves.

  54. Ok finally home just watched the video and I have to take back my sorta meh on the dancers cuz hahahaha “There were dancers????”
I totally didn’t even see them. I really really loved how the front of his hair kept bouncing, very distracting in a totally good way :D
I really loved seeing all those guys dancing up front with big smiles on their faces. I thought the vocals were spot on. It was maybe not my absolute favorite Fever performance (I agree with claudette the iheartradio is my fav atm)but I didn’t see anything I didn’t like it was all kinds of awesome.

  55. Gram/Happycat14 ITA Adam has been in theater for 10 years..He knows when to go OTT and when to go acoustic…This crowd will definitely not apprectiate acoustic…He’s closing a show that has lasted a few hours, so he has to end in a high note (no pun).Different strokes for different folks…

  56. Happycat, thanks for that flash mob video. that seemed like fun. There were a lot of people there. I wonder how many attended. Adam was his usual happy self, putting on a performance in his own way. He’s such a showman. He adapts to whatever occasion it is. You go, bb. You’re doing great!!!

  57. This was not a televised event -it was a live performance in a large room, thusly the need for exaggerated stage makeup and espressions so the far seated audience dosen’t see just a blur. Adam’s singing was great and it looked like he has fun. I’m glad somethere took this great video and once again MJ came through for us. Adam is simply wonderful, a good kid and a fantastic showman.

  58. That flashmob video is funny, there were so many out of sync dancers hahahaha. Can we replace Kesha with the guys that was singing????

  59. I loved this performance. It made me smile and feel happy through the whole thing. Adam summed it up perfectly on AI: he wants to give you something to listen to, something to look at, and something to feel. I love him.

It was perfect for the occasion, too, and I agree with the above poster that this was a stage performance and thus he performed for the person in the back row, not for the camera.

And have I said lately how fabulous I think he looked that night? :-) Still can’t get over it. Bouncy hair for the win!

And I loved his message at the end— heartfelt, direct, simple, spot on. You go, Adam.

  60. ok I don´t really know where to post this but I have to share. I was at the gym yesterday in one of those programmed classes and the teacher used “For your entertainment”. When I talked to him about the song he said that there´s a professional site there he goes to check exercises, music and stuff and FYE was listed as one of the top ten songs for work out! He heard it, he loved it and decided to use it. I was so happy, because here in Brazil we have no publicity over Adam. The only thing that we have so far are his music videos on MTV, although we have a lot of fans that watched the show and love him.

  61. I thought the point of Adam’s speech was that there was diversity within the gay community. If you are gay, does that mean you necessarily want really campy and crotch grabs and sleezy dancers? I’m genuinely curious when someone says….we’ll it WAS a gay event so campy is what “they” want.

Good point. Not everyone in the audience wants campy, not everyone in the audience wants acoustic, same with his fans. Artists are not going to get everyone in an audience to flove everything they do on every song. I also prefer iheartradio to this one. That being said, he never fails to put a smile on my face after his performance is done. His joy is infectious to me.

  62. I just watched the iheartradio one….I think he’s got the same exaggerated hand movements but we don’t see them as much because the camera is also showing Adam’s band, etc.

  63. OMG beware of those dancers early in the morning! They are frightening!

  64. IDK, it’s apples to oranges for me. Everyone of his performances even for a song like Fever is different. I really try to just look at each one like a piece of art…individually! He is just stunning, fearless, and fierce! Loved the high note, love him dancing in any way shape or form. I mean, there is REALLY something so sexy about a man who can sing like he does and also have the moves he does, OMFG! This performance had all kinds of Adam awesomeness. Love his hair, love the blue, love his makeup, his camp, his moves, his voive, the high note so fresh and different from other versions of the song…NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, a dissapointment. I glad you all pointed out that he had dancers, cause I really didn’t notice them.

  65. I have no problem with dancers per se, and I always see other pop artists perform on various shows with dancers, and I like the idea of Adam having dancers, and i liked Adam’s dancers at the AMAs, and I love the dancers in the FYE video….but there is just something about THESE dancers (eg the ones he had in Japan and the GLAAD awards)that I just find tacky/sleazy/unattractive/overly campy…I don’t know what it is — the costumes, the dance moves, their physical appearance, their expressions? – i can’t put my finger on it (altho they kind of remind me of the bedraggled dancers/musicians in the bway revival of cabaret with natasha richardson (RIP) and alan cumming), but it just doesn’t work for me…YMMV

However, dancers, shmancers…Adam was fab as always

  66. My favorite Fever was the iheartradio. I thought it was perfect. I also loved Leno Sleepwalker. I like some campy, but variety I guess. I’m still a fan even though I don’t like everything he does.

Those were songs performed on TV or filmed for watching on video. This was a stage performance. A concert or live performance should be presented in a different way than a performance for TV.

We are able to watch this performance because they recorded it, but it was not meant to be a viewing experience like the Fever from iheartradio. We are watching an up-close video of Fever that was meant for people that were 25,50,100 ft from the stage.

ETA: I just saw this post and ITA:

When criticizing Adam’s performance, i.e. campy, OTT, exaggerated facial expressions, it would be helpful to consider your perspective vs his audience. You are seeing a film close-up, right in his face. The audience to whom he was playing was large and very few were close to him.

  67. happycat: “Some of Adam’s stage moves actually remind me of Mick Jagger ”

Thank you for nailing that! I was thinking to myself that his organic gestures reminded me of another artist. Yep – Jagger! Like it.

Anyway, I appreciate the maturity of this forum – we can agree to disagree and nobody has to be right and everyone is heard. Until next topic…

  68. I think with the dancers there is just something alittle off with the outfits for me.

The guy in the bowler hat, i think instead of the shorts with those legging/stocking things maybe just dress pants to continue the suit sorta vibe.

The other guy: that one is just all sorts of weird. I think if they changed out those sparkely leggings to something else or switched the shirt. It was just to many different textures thrown together for me.

I think the lady with the cap should have just either ditched the cap or used a different leotard they didn’t quite fit together.

The other lady I think was fine there wasn’t really an overload of different texture going on.

I think that was the problem over all was it looked like they barrowed pieces from 3 or 4 different outfits to create each of those. With the exception of one of the woman. Texture overload…hahah oh well not like im one to talk fashion I wear jean and a t-shirt everyday if I can. hahaha Not that it makes much of a difference I had a hard time watching them even when I was intentionally trying too :)

  69. I dunno, if Adam says he wants dancers, he should have dancers. He is really good at getting what he wants. lol. But he has class, and was dressed up so nice, I wonder how he thinks the dancers should be dressed that way, same as in his AMA performance. Is he chosing what they wear, or is he leaving it up to the dancers? Maybe this is all practice, and he will have better for the tour. What did the dancers look like on his pre Idol days? Oh and the same for the FYE video, so is seems this is the look he is going for. Hes the one in charge, and the dancers are,? I dont even know what to call them.

  70. I don’t really care at this point whether Adam has dancers or not. I am glad that Adam has enough say that he can see his vision come to life. hehe my only beef is they take up Adam’s struting room on stage. It makes his movement more choreographed and less spontanious. But its not like I don’t like it. I really do love to see him jump in and out of the choreo….me likey Adam’s dancey lol

And I think the dancers outfits are Adam. I remember seeing a bit about the FYE video and how he was excited to be able to audition the dancers and help pick the outfits.

Haha I’m not going to see them anyway I’m going to see Adam……if he acctually comes to my area…..if not them I am really GOING to see Adam since I may have to drive to California.

  71. One of the best things about any Adam performance is at the end when he smiles and his face lights up.

  72. Yay! I’m definitely on Team Bouncy Hair. Hehehe. He is so much fun. What a great performance. I wish THAT had been the AMA vibe. Even though the vocals weren’t perfect Adam was super sexy, playful and confident. Loved it!!! Loved the closing remarks as well. More diversity just shows people that gays and lesbians are not restricted to stereotypes…they’re representative of all different types of people in all walks of life. Love that.

  73. I looooove everything about Adam Lambert!!!!…OTT Adam, acoustic Adam, dancers, no dancers, emo hair, Elvis hair, glammed up Adam, boy next door Adam….it’s all good to me as long as he’s happy doing what he does! He’s not going to please everybody all the time, but he sure as heck doing a great job of pleasing me!!!

Did anyone notice how he sang “I wanna get you alonnnne”…luv how he changes things up…so fresh and sexy!

  74. PPPofP, yeah and I LOVE how he gets so intense on Your myyyyyyine…just all kinds of delicious and possesive in a very playful way…HOT stuff.

  75. Could this guy be more handsome? Loved the performance, his hair, his make up. Love me some OTT Adam. NOT a big fan of the dancers. I hope they practice a bit more for the tour. Is Adam still in the US?

  76. Soberba
I think Adam still is. Heard he was doing over the phone press stuff that was planned for today. They are going to try to get him to the UK by thursday (per sony on twitter).

  77. And in moves the GLEE wave to splash into the top spots on ITunes. Bye bye WWFM in the top 10 soon

  78. Dang, smeggs, you beat me to it again! I was just coming here to post this interview, and you’ve already done it. I really liked this interview– it was long, relaxed, in-depth, honest. I think Adam could chat forever. I love his perspective on life.

  79. yeah I really liked it as well, it was so relaxed. I think my fav part was the ice cream bit the look on his face hahaha sooo cute

  80. OMG, I just watched the first part of the interview (thanks for posting it smeggs!) and I’m so exicted Adam mentioned the possibility of a 5th single of his album. Maybe he’s just being over-ambitious, but how awesome would that be if he would get to release Sleepwalker and Fever?
