Dancing With The Stars Top 8 Pairs – Recap

Nicole and Derek top the Leader board with a near-perfect score of 29. Evan and Anna follow close behind with 27. I suspect the winner will be between these two–I give Evan the slight edge because he’s got a devoted fan base. And Olympic stars usually do really well on this show.

At the very bottom is…Kate and Tony, of course. Kate moves–if you want to call what she’s doing “moving” like a 90 year old. She was really really bad tonight. But the producers have got to be hoping she stays, because Kate = ratings gold.

I want to put in a good word for Tom Bergeron. He’s quick-witted, charming, and keeps the show running smoothly. Ryan Seacrest? Take note.

It’s movie week as the 8 remaining couples take to the dance floor this week. Each couple will dance to songs from hit movies.

Live blog and Videos after the JUMP…

Niecy Nash and Louis Van Amstel – Movie: La Bamba Dance: Jive – Niecy is not in shape! Will she make it through the jive? Well, Niecy is doing abou as well as you could expect her to. You don’t want her passing out on the dance floor. Louis is fun to watch, though. Len’s got lipstick on his forehead! Len says, “You got your personality into that dance–great. There should have been more bounce through your feet (not your bazookas) approach was great” Bruno says, “This dance has to be accurate sharp and precise…” Louis admits to making a mistake. Carrie calls her the shimmy queen, but agrees with Len and Bruno. – Carrie Ann – 6, Len – 6, Bruno – 6 – 181-800-868-3405. – VIDEO

Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke – Movie:Jungle Book Dance: Quickstep – Chad swears something is bothering Cheryl. She says she’s fine, she just feels the pressure. Chad is improving week to week. He’s got some pretty good footwork going there! Bruno says, “It was a little bit too wild, you lost the refinement and control. Hold was terrible, it really fell to pieces.” Carrie Ann says, “It was strange…it’s very uneven, body contact was lacking.” Chad says he’s having a ball, “We have plenty of contact, we’re good.” Hm. Len says, “I thought it was bright and lively…overall you did your best, pretty good job.” Len says the top has to stay calm while the legs do the work, and that’s hard. Cheryl insists nothing was wrong, she was just focused on Chad getting the quickstep. Carrie Ann – 6, Len – 6, Bruno – 6 – 181-800-868-3401VIDEO

Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – Movie: Pulp Fiction Dance: Jive – After last week’s Tango debacle, Maks is TAKING CHARGE. Erin and Maks disagree a lot the squabble like siblings. That beginning was a little shaky. Eh. I don’t like the choreography. I can already tell Len is going to hate it. Erin is wearing a blond Uma wig, and they’re sorta trying to recreate the Travolta/Thurman dance from the movie. But it’s awkward. Carrie Ann says, “I liked it. You delivered the story, it was hard to watch your ankles. Ahead of the beat.” Len says, He hated the beginning, but then it kicked in “It got a little hectic, overall I thought you did a good job” Bruno says, “You got the Uma magic just right mama, this is your best timing ever, you didn’t go wrong once.” – Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 7, Bruno – 8 – 22 Erin says there will be no love in the air until she gets a ring like Chad gave Cheryl…. – 1-800-868-3403VIDEOVIDEO

Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower – Movie: Risky Business Dance: Cha cha cha. Jake says people tell him he looks like Tom Cruise, but he doesn’t see it. Geez. Jake shows up shirtless to rehearsal. Jake is pantless, recreating the “Old Time Rock and Roll” Chelsea brings him his pants. Wow. Jake sucks. His feet are ridiculous. I’m sure he’s hoping his fans aren’t noticing. Did he just trip? Len says, “You come out 100%. I loved the feeling of the dance, too bad you had the incident.” Bruno says, “Why did you put your pants on? Your energy is incredible, one of your best performances. Cheeky, funny” Carrie Ann says, “You got the guts, you better enjoy the glory. I loved it.” Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 7, Bruno – 8 – 231-800-868-3404VIDEO

Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood – Movie: 9-5 Dance: Quickstep – Pam is playing another big-busted blond-Pam Anderson. She wanted to do a Russ Myers film. Hm. Oh wow, that move stepping over the chairs and table was pretty good. Nicely done! Bruno says, “You’re characterization is always spot on. Dancing was good as well, you’re doing a great job.” Carrie Ann says, “Your posture, gait is great. I would love to see Pamela on Broadway. But, your’ hold was loosey-goosey” Len says, “I can’t stand stand all this [props] Far too much messing around.” Tom quips, “Len from ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas'” – Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 6, Bruno – 8 – 211-800-868-3411VIDEOVIDEO

Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani – Movie: Breakfast Club Dance: Foxtrot – “What’s up with that? What are we doing here, swimming?” Wow Kate, you are a beyotch! Kate continues to suck. She’s barely moving. This is hysterical. So elegant! NOT. She dances like a 90 year old. Buzz danced better. Carrie Ann says, “There’s some sort of grace that’s developing…but, it never becomes a formed sentence or a movement, like the Charlie Brown teacher…wha wha wha…” Len says, “It was neat and precise. It was a stroll, not a dance.” Len liked the lack of props. “I think Tony could have had more life with a frock and a coat hanger…catatonic. Everything has gone back right to the beginning. You got to capitalize on what we say. Give us something.” Her kids visited her. She’s doing it for them! Invoke the kids–get the votes. Carrie Ann – 5, Len – 5, Bruno – 5 – 151-800-868-3410VIDEO

Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough – Movie: Pretty Woman Dance: Tango Nicole messed up last week, she was upset with her performance. She has to remember to enjoy it. Nicole shops in Beverly Hills just like the Ho from the movie. Oh. Nicole is such a ringer. Trained dancer. Bah. She’ll score a bunch of points tonight. The crowd gives them a standing O. Len says, “That was your best dance, the best dance of the season so far. well done.” Bruno says, “Two players at the top of their game…bursting with sexual tension. perfection” Bruno is going to bust a blood vessel. Carrie Ann says, “The lines were incredible, you could have taken a snapshot, and it would have been art.” Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9, Bruno – 10 – 291-800-868-3408VIDEO

Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya – Movie: Rumba – Armageddon Dance: Evan is traveling with Stars on Ice while he’s doing Dancing with the Stars. Anna travels with him The moves are fantastic, but there’s no chemistry between them. Bruno says, “Like a ballet dancer, spins are spot on. Superb.” Carrie Ann says, “Tender sophistication, the movement was generating the emotion, hip action was fluid.” Len says, “Artistry, musicality, wonderful fluidity. I thought you did a great job.” – Evan admits he messed up a bit. Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 9 – 271-800-868-3406VIDEO
