Dancing With The Stars Top 8 Pairs – Recap

Nicole and Derek top the Leader board with a near-perfect score of 29. Evan and Anna follow close behind with 27. I suspect the winner will be between these two–I give Evan the slight edge because he’s got a devoted fan base. And Olympic stars usually do really well on this show.

At the very bottom is…Kate and Tony, of course. Kate moves–if you want to call what she’s doing “moving” like a 90 year old. She was really really bad tonight. But the producers have got to be hoping she stays, because Kate = ratings gold.

I want to put in a good word for Tom Bergeron. He’s quick-witted, charming, and keeps the show running smoothly. Ryan Seacrest? Take note.

It’s movie week as the 8 remaining couples take to the dance floor this week. Each couple will dance to songs from hit movies.

Live blog and Videos after the JUMP…

Niecy Nash and Louis Van Amstel – Movie: La Bamba Dance: Jive – Niecy is not in shape! Will she make it through the jive? Well, Niecy is doing abou as well as you could expect her to. You don’t want her passing out on the dance floor. Louis is fun to watch, though. Len’s got lipstick on his forehead! Len says, “You got your personality into that dance–great. There should have been more bounce through your feet (not your bazookas) approach was great” Bruno says, “This dance has to be accurate sharp and precise…” Louis admits to making a mistake. Carrie calls her the shimmy queen, but agrees with Len and Bruno. – Carrie Ann – 6, Len – 6, Bruno – 6 – 181-800-868-3405. – VIDEO

Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke – Movie:Jungle Book Dance: Quickstep – Chad swears something is bothering Cheryl. She says she’s fine, she just feels the pressure. Chad is improving week to week. He’s got some pretty good footwork going there! Bruno says, “It was a little bit too wild, you lost the refinement and control. Hold was terrible, it really fell to pieces.” Carrie Ann says, “It was strange…it’s very uneven, body contact was lacking.” Chad says he’s having a ball, “We have plenty of contact, we’re good.” Hm. Len says, “I thought it was bright and lively…overall you did your best, pretty good job.” Len says the top has to stay calm while the legs do the work, and that’s hard. Cheryl insists nothing was wrong, she was just focused on Chad getting the quickstep. Carrie Ann – 6, Len – 6, Bruno – 6 – 181-800-868-3401VIDEO

Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – Movie: Pulp Fiction Dance: Jive – After last week’s Tango debacle, Maks is TAKING CHARGE. Erin and Maks disagree a lot the squabble like siblings. That beginning was a little shaky. Eh. I don’t like the choreography. I can already tell Len is going to hate it. Erin is wearing a blond Uma wig, and they’re sorta trying to recreate the Travolta/Thurman dance from the movie. But it’s awkward. Carrie Ann says, “I liked it. You delivered the story, it was hard to watch your ankles. Ahead of the beat.” Len says, He hated the beginning, but then it kicked in “It got a little hectic, overall I thought you did a good job” Bruno says, “You got the Uma magic just right mama, this is your best timing ever, you didn’t go wrong once.” – Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 7, Bruno – 8 – 22 Erin says there will be no love in the air until she gets a ring like Chad gave Cheryl…. – 1-800-868-3403VIDEOVIDEO

Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower – Movie: Risky Business Dance: Cha cha cha. Jake says people tell him he looks like Tom Cruise, but he doesn’t see it. Geez. Jake shows up shirtless to rehearsal. Jake is pantless, recreating the “Old Time Rock and Roll” Chelsea brings him his pants. Wow. Jake sucks. His feet are ridiculous. I’m sure he’s hoping his fans aren’t noticing. Did he just trip? Len says, “You come out 100%. I loved the feeling of the dance, too bad you had the incident.” Bruno says, “Why did you put your pants on? Your energy is incredible, one of your best performances. Cheeky, funny” Carrie Ann says, “You got the guts, you better enjoy the glory. I loved it.” Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 7, Bruno – 8 – 231-800-868-3404VIDEO

Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood – Movie: 9-5 Dance: Quickstep – Pam is playing another big-busted blond-Pam Anderson. She wanted to do a Russ Myers film. Hm. Oh wow, that move stepping over the chairs and table was pretty good. Nicely done! Bruno says, “You’re characterization is always spot on. Dancing was good as well, you’re doing a great job.” Carrie Ann says, “Your posture, gait is great. I would love to see Pamela on Broadway. But, your’ hold was loosey-goosey” Len says, “I can’t stand stand all this [props] Far too much messing around.” Tom quips, “Len from ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas'” – Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 6, Bruno – 8 – 211-800-868-3411VIDEOVIDEO

Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani – Movie: Breakfast Club Dance: Foxtrot – “What’s up with that? What are we doing here, swimming?” Wow Kate, you are a beyotch! Kate continues to suck. She’s barely moving. This is hysterical. So elegant! NOT. She dances like a 90 year old. Buzz danced better. Carrie Ann says, “There’s some sort of grace that’s developing…but, it never becomes a formed sentence or a movement, like the Charlie Brown teacher…wha wha wha…” Len says, “It was neat and precise. It was a stroll, not a dance.” Len liked the lack of props. “I think Tony could have had more life with a frock and a coat hanger…catatonic. Everything has gone back right to the beginning. You got to capitalize on what we say. Give us something.” Her kids visited her. She’s doing it for them! Invoke the kids–get the votes. Carrie Ann – 5, Len – 5, Bruno – 5 – 151-800-868-3410VIDEO

Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough – Movie: Pretty Woman Dance: Tango Nicole messed up last week, she was upset with her performance. She has to remember to enjoy it. Nicole shops in Beverly Hills just like the Ho from the movie. Oh. Nicole is such a ringer. Trained dancer. Bah. She’ll score a bunch of points tonight. The crowd gives them a standing O. Len says, “That was your best dance, the best dance of the season so far. well done.” Bruno says, “Two players at the top of their game…bursting with sexual tension. perfection” Bruno is going to bust a blood vessel. Carrie Ann says, “The lines were incredible, you could have taken a snapshot, and it would have been art.” Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9, Bruno – 10 – 291-800-868-3408VIDEO

Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya – Movie: Rumba – Armageddon Dance: Evan is traveling with Stars on Ice while he’s doing Dancing with the Stars. Anna travels with him The moves are fantastic, but there’s no chemistry between them. Bruno says, “Like a ballet dancer, spins are spot on. Superb.” Carrie Ann says, “Tender sophistication, the movement was generating the emotion, hip action was fluid.” Len says, “Artistry, musicality, wonderful fluidity. I thought you did a great job.” – Evan admits he messed up a bit. Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 9 – 271-800-868-3406VIDEO

  1. I think 6 is there go to score, when they don’t know what else to score, pretty funny :)

  2. And “really good” gets 7s. Snooze fest tonight. What’s with the ancient music?

  3. Idk, I have to wait a couple more hours before I can see it, I am a Westcoaster….. hmm that sound like something you put under your beer bottle LOL

  4. Guess there hasn’t been a “hit movie” in 30 years? La Bamba? Risky Business? 9 to 5?

Jake was cute without his pants – the most excitment so far.

  5. Jake is growing on me, I liked his dance, where did he go wrong, I didnt catch it. Nice legs Jakie!!!!!

  6. Yeah, his footwork is a mess and he manages to trip over his feet a lot but at least he’s enjoying it. I dare anyone here to try to put on pants while dancing and not holding on to anything!

  7. Pamela, I thought that was a good job, Len is nuts about the beginning, it went with the song. Other people did stuff at the beginning too.

  8. I’ve decided Jake is creepy. He grosses me out. I can’t judge him. He sucked and made me feel uncomfortable to boot.

I like Chad. He’s getting better and better. Not as good as last week, but he didn’t get to move the same way. Heh.

I do like Pamela. She’s awesome. Loved her outfit and the Dolly character.

Erin kind of leaves me cold, but she’s miles ahead of some of the others.

    Neicy’s so fun. That’s all. :-)

  9. Pamela has guts – loved the bit with the chairs and table. Did she really just do that? Bruno is right – she nails each character. She is very talented.

    Kate’s bad again…think I’ll go watch a youtube ’til it’s over.

“Catatonic” “needs a post mortem” Go Bruno!

  10. I really wish Tony would just trip Kate and put himself out of his misery. Can’t help but think he’s wanting this season to end for him.

  11. I like Niecy but she’s not the best dancer. Chad doesn’t do anything for me.

Erin’s comment about the ring cracked me up. I liked her but not the choreography.

Jake – Tom Cruise – really? I did not need to see him without pants. Jake needs to go home this week but the judges scored him too high.

I thought Pamela did really well tonight. Loved the dance over the table/chairs.

  12. Omg, Kate is milking the kids for votes. Shameless. I think Brooke Burke was making a dig at her, because you can do well on the show hand have kids. Of course, it went over Kate’s head.

  13. I LOVED Erin and Maks’s dance. She can be so awkward since she’s all arms and legs, but I actually loved the choreography. And I thought she did a pretty great job with the dance.

I don’t like Jake, but I think that was probably his best dance so far. He actually had some hip action going on. He’s still clunky and awkward, but is improving a bit.

Everyone (except Kate) has kind of been mediocre so far, and the scores generally reflect that.

  14. OMG Katie had me laughing my butt off, she is sooo bad. I just dont know what to say about that dance. How about slow motion? Half asleep? Worthless? There just arent enough words to describe how bad she is. Doesnt she even want to try? She said she wants to stay. Well honey get out there and move your ass around. Poor Tony!!!!

  15. niecy just brings a smile to my face i love her .. no not the best dancer but quite frankly i dont care i love watchin her lol

    kate just UGH UGH UGH

  16. What’s the deal with Kate? She barely moves. I could do better without training and I’m not a dancer. Way over-scored. I’d have given her all 3s.

  17. Nicole, that was so awsome, best dance of the season, and almost alll seasons. Len, why the 9 honey, should have been 3 10’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Chad doesn’t do anything for me. Erin, so-so. I find Jake annoying just as he was on the bachelor. Niecy is fun loving. I always look forward to Pam cause she’s interesting and as Bruno said always bring character. Poor old Kate – there has to be something they can do to loosen her up, my mop and broom have more moves. Surely everyone has “some” beat in their body. Nicole is good but then I expect her to be. I love, love, love Bruno!

  19. LOL. Evan, you can’t move those hips. If only we could combine his lines with Chad’s hips. ;-)

  20. I think Nicole’s a ringer but it was refreshing to see a real dancer to take the bad taste off Kate’s performance such as it was.

    Loved Evan tonight. Incredible moves.

  21. I loved Evan …. Jake and Kate get on my last nerve. Niecy is always fun.

  22. I don’t understand how Kate has 8 kids when she moves like that.

    Love, love, love Pam!

  23. I really enjoyed Pam, Evan, and Nicole. Every week I dislike Jake more and more… He is creepy and sleazy… Kate has no business being on this show at this point…. She doesn’t even try. I feel bad for Tony.

  24. I truly feel for Tony as well. I don’t think it’s because Kate’s not trying, I honestly believe she doesn’t have a beat in her body, if that’s possible. It’s very painful to watch though and I give her credit for being tough skinned to take those comments, it can’t be easy. I wish Tony could find a way to lubricate her and make her bendable. If not, then it’s definitely time to go. Tonight was not the most memorable for me, but did enjoy some.

  25. Pam, Evan, and Nicole were my favorites tonight as well. Yes, I said Pam. I never thought I’d be saying that but I’ll admit it tonight. She truly is convincing in whatever character is thrown at her regardless of the dance but tonight I thought the character and the dance was the perfect fit.

Evan I love him just because. :)

    Nicole and Derek were terrific!

  26. Pam Anderson is an incredible athlete. Without the cartoon booblets, she would have an incredible muscular, but feminine, body.

I refuse to believe anyone on earth can dance as poorly as Kate. She has lead limbs. Until tonite, I thought she was just freezing up when she hit the dance floor, but I dunno any more.

  27. I like that Pam puts on a show. She’s not as good as Nicole, but she’s pretty good. I also hate that she’s always in the bottom because (presumably) women don’t like her? Yet they like Nicole? I just don’t get it. I guess I never will. LOL.

The ESPN woman never shows much personality and she’s also not as good as Nicole.

As for the guys… Jake is creepy. Evan is adorable, but maybe too adorable. I don’t know. I like Chad. He works for me. ;-)

  28. It’s time for Tony to injure himself and get away from lead foot Lulu. Who is voting for this woman? She’s a disaster!

  29. OMG i just saw the Kate video. LOL LOL LOL let’s keep her in for the trainwreck factor. this is like 1000 worse than Timmeh

  30. Kate is almost like she is paralyzed between her shoulders and thighs (I guess that is a person’s trunk). Her bends and twists are done with minimal movement. A blank look on the face throughout every performance I’ve seen so far. Perhaps the worst dancer I’ve ever seen. Do they do any small auditions for this show? If so, how could she have made it.

The only frame of reference I’ve ever had about Pam is that she was on Baywatch. Since then, I have mainly seen her as a tabloid person. This show brings out a really good personality in her and she appears to be quite a nice gal. Oh, and she dances well too, lol.

  31. I like them all except for Jake and Kate. But Kate is so out of it, so bitchy, so blank, so bad it is entertainment. LOL. Pam seems easy going and I like her. Don’t know why girls wouldn’t like her. Fun show tonight!

  32. Kate should be benched and Jimmy Fallon should take her place as her impersonator, Not only would it be funny, but the dancing would be better.

  33. I do not6 understand the perception that people watch the show for Kate. Tonight I went into the kitchen to work on the dishes when she was on. Please, please vote her off! Next off for me would be Jake. I love Chelsey but not Jake. I agree with the judges that Pam would be great on Broadway. Also, she looks very cute during rehersals with no makeup and more like a regular person. I like it when she drops the persona and lets her real self shine through. This is no dumb blond.

  34. So I have to say the obligatory “Nicole isn’t more advantaged than Evan skaters get ballet training OKAY that’s why they said he was balletic plus he’s male so the moves are easier!”

That said, I liked them both this week! Loved Nicole especially, she deserves to be back on top. Great, passionate and precise tango. And Evan continues to be dorky and cute in rehearsal, with excellent grace and lines while dancing. I’d liked to have seen some more hip action though.

Kate must be REALLY awful behind the scenes because Tony was giving her some serious stankface. He really hates her, which says something because he’s usually the most considerate pro.

Jake is awkward and overscored…What a douchebag. I wouldn’t cry to see Jake or Kate go, although I would miss Chelsie.

  35. I agree with the judges that Pam would be great on Broadway. Also, she looks very cute during rehersals with no makeup and more like a regular person. I like it when she drops the persona and lets her real self shine through. This is no dumb blond.

Ditto! Pam is super charming. I think the tabloids present us with a certain “image” of her to make us predisposed to dislike her, when she’s actually not like that.

  36. Nicole is a ringer but she’s great… and though I’m sick of Derek, his choreography is fantastic. Evan is really wonderful to watch and his personality is warming up… though sorry, Anna is just not my favorite pro.

So, I’m coming out and admitting: I’m rooting for Pamela Anderson. OMFG I can’t believe it! But she improves every week, and I like watching someone who is learning how to dance. Also – I cannot believe I am saying this – she’s a much better performer than I would ever have imagined. I thought she was brought in as this year’s train wreck/comic relief. I am not warming up to her pro (whatever his name is)… he just comes across as skeezy to me… but his choreography is great. He knows how to accentuate her dancing strong points. That over the chairs and table move was fanstatic and kudos to Pam for doing it!

My points are on Evan to win, but I’ll say it again: I’m rooting for (and voting for) Pamela Anderson.

    Shhhhhhhhhhh! Don’t tell anybody!!!!! :-)

ETA: Kate is just terrible in every way. The producers owe Tony Dovolani big time!! He deserves a wonderful person AND a great dancer next year!

  37. I LOVED Erin and Maks’s dance. She can be so awkward since she’s all arms and legs, but I actually loved the choreography. And I thought she did a pretty great job with the dance.

Totally agree! I also enjoy Niecy for her attitude and Chad because he’s really trying. (I think he has a real disadvantage due to the height difference between him and Cheryl.)Pam is enjoyable when she’s not playing the sexpot but I really dislike her partner.

Evan and Nicole are fun to watch but they don’t seem to really be part of the competition to me. I hate the huge disparity in skill sets. For some reason, it seems much more pronounced to me this season.

I cannot stand Jake. Last night, with the whole Tom Cruise schtick, just made me nauseous. Ready for him to be off my TV. Kate is just laughable. I really feel for Tony. He’s trying so hard. I’m surprised he hasn’t bitten through his tongue yet!

  38. I honestly believe she doesn’t have a beat in her body, if that’s possible.

I wouldn’t have believed it was possible until I saw KG. Not a beat and not one tiny dot or smidgen of physical grace of any kind, either. Very very strange. For some reason, it really makes me sad to see a young woman like that.

  39. ettacandy I am also hoping Pam Anderson wins. She is not a professional dancer like Nicole or an athlete like Evan and I enjoy seeing her get better each week. Voters, please deliver Tony from his misery and send Kate back to her 8 kids and custody battle.

  40. Really growing to love Pam. She’s the best non-ringer out there and has a funny, humble personality. Hope she goes really far.

Evan is D-U-L-L. I just don’t see what everyone else must be seeing. He’s certainly a decent dancer, but his dancing and his personality are wooden. He seems awkward, dry and dull — never has anything much to say and seems kind of humor-less. He moves well in the things he’s trained (ballet, arms, etc.), but the rest (hips, feet) are really stiff.

Love Neicy and Erin’s personalities… they’re fun to watch and I enjoy their pre-performance packages.

Kate and Jake can go home .. although, must admit Kate is so horrific it’s starting to get funny. But in fairness to the others, she should be sent packing.

  41. It really is a contest between Evan, Nicole, and Erin! Terrific dancing! Now, can Kate just go home?
