NASHVILLE - ABC's "Nashville" stars Chris Carmack as Will Lexington, Clare Bowen as Scarlett O'Connor, Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley, Sam Palladio as Gunnar Scott, Maisy Stella as Daphne Conrad, Eric Close as Teddy Conrad, Lennon Stella as Maddie Conrad, Connie Britton as Rayna Jaymes, Charles Esten as Deacon Claybourne and Hayden Panettiere as Juliette Barnes. Media outlets are confirming that Nashville will not return for a Season 5.

The ABC musical drama had always garnered ratings that kept it on the bubble, but there were signs in recent months that the network was planning to keep the Nashville, Tennessee show going. Showrunners Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick had been hired to oversee the next season in place of Dee Johnson who was stepping down.

The series, starring Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere, has spawned multiple albums of original songs and nationwide tours.

The Nashville series finale will air on May 25.

Other ABC shows cancelled today: The Muppets, Galavant and Castle. There was controversy concerning the latter–if the network had decided to move forward with Season 9, it would have been without lead actress Stana Katic. It turns out Nathan Fillion’s Rick Castle won’t be going solo afterall.

Next week are the advertisers upfronts, which means lots of announcements regarding upcoming shows. Stay tuned!
