Song Spoiler Roundup

What we have so far:

Katharine McPhee:  “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” by KT Tunstall – her Top 10 Billboard song choice, according to KT’s  My Space

Taylor Hicks: “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” by Bon Jovi – his Top 10 Billboard song choice according to Detroit radio station 96.3 FM.  And,  according to allaccess.com, (click on Top40/M on the top menu bar), this song is “one of two songs to be performed by American Idol contestants.”  The “other contestant” is probably Kellie Pickler, who had picked out a Bon Jovi song to sing this week.

Paris Bennett: “Kiss” by Prince.  Originally recorded by Prince in 1986, but recorded by Tom Jones and the Art of Noise in 1988, Paris’s birth year.  I’m still following up on this one, but it comes from a good source.

New Rumors:

Taylor Hicks: I don’t even know where this started, but it’s been all over the boards–Taylor Hicks’s birth year song is rumored to be “Rubberband Man” by the Spinners, recorded in 1976.  If anybody can shoot me a source on that one, I’d be ever so grateful.  ETA:  I’m hearing this is a “joke” spoiler.  Still, I’d love some sources…

ETAA: Check out Gray Charles hilarious “how bad spoilers get started” time-line in the comments section here.  At any rate, it looks like Taylor’s birth year song will be a tune he’s performed pre-idol.  According to Taylor’s Dad, from a recent TV interview: “We have a great song this week…This is one of Taylor’s songs, people are REALLY going to enjoy this.”  So, I think we can start speculating from a completely different angle.  Thanks to twop and the folks who left comments here for that info.

Elliott Yamin: Elliott’s peeps are keeping mum this week.  However, a poster on TWOP claims to have received an email that says Elliott’s birth year song choice will be “On Broadway” by George Benson, released in 1978.  His Top 10 Billboard song choice (from the same TWOP poster) is rumored to be a Michael Buble song.
