Survivor Season 46 Week 3 Recap and Live Blog

A new episode of Survivor 46 airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap here.

Yanu returns to camp after tribal council. Bhanu didn’t know about the fake idol. He’s glad he’s still in the game, but he knows he could be the next person going home. He says Tiffany, Q, and Kenzie are all pulling the strings. They also tell Bhanu he needs to know when to lie and keep information away from Jeff at tribal council. In his confessional, Bhanu says he’s not an actor and he cannot do that.

The next morning, Kenzie says they have one of the roughest starts in the new era of the game. They have yet to win any challenges. Bhanu knows he’s going home if Yanu loses another immunity challenge. He wants to find a hidden immunity idol to save himself, not knowing that Tiffany already found one. Bhanu shares his concern about his place in the tribe with Kenzie. Kenzie says she’s open to plans, but he needs to come up with a plan first. In her confessional, Kenzie says Bhanu doesn’t have a strategic bone in his body. Bhanu describes Kenzie as a “mermaid dragon.” Bhanu talks to Q next. Q tells Bhanu he wants to keep him around since he’s loyal. In his confessional, Q says he wants to reassure Bhanu so he doesn’t believe he’s completely alone in the game.

The medics arrive

Four days ago on the Siga tribe, the tribe goes searching for a hidden immunity idol together. Charlie thinks the group idol hunt is fake. He’s certain no one will tell someone else if the idol is found. And sure enough, Jem finds the Beware Advantage and tells no one. She returns to the same spot later at night to dig up the second part of the advantage. The Beware Advantage has the same stipulation as the other Beware Advantages found by Tiffany and Randen. Jem learns she lost her vote, and she won’t have further instruction until Siga loses an immunity challenge. If they don’t lose a challenge, then she’ll receive further instructions then.

On the Nami tribe, Hunter has become the provider of the tribe. Liz says no one wants to vote him out since he’s strong. They also think he’s just here for the adventure. We then learn about Hunter’s background. He gave up a scholarship to medical school to be a teacher instead. He’s also a superfan who has built puzzles inspired by Survivor challenges, but he’s keeping that a secret. He doesn’t want a target on his back. Venus, however, sees Hunter as a threat. She tells Randen that Hunter and Tevin are running the tribe, and she says Hunter has to go. Meanwhile, Randen’s arm is numb and needs to be checked by a medic. He is told he could have a nerve issue, and they’re going to keep an eye on him. Randen is concerned he could be a liability for the tribe.

Immunity challenge

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They must go through a series of obstacles in the water and return to the beach. Once there, they must toss sandbags onto five discs. The first two tribes to land their sandbags will win immunity. In addition, they are playing for a toolkit reward. The challenge begins. Nami eventually falls behind with Siga in the lead. However, the challenge becomes even due to Siga and Yanu struggling to land a sandbag. Nami was the last tribe to begin tossing sandbags, but Hunter manages to land five sandbags first. Nami wins immunity! Siga go back and forth landing sandbags, and it could be either tribe winning. However, it’s Charlie who lands the five sandbags next. Siga wins immunity! Yanu will return to tribal council. In addition, there will be a journey today. Bhanu, Liz, and Ben are chosen to go on the journey.

Yanu returns to camp. They’re disappointed Bhanu was chosen to go on the journey since he could be exposing their games to the other tribes. Q feels like he let his tribe down. He said he fumbled, and it’s not acceptable. Q tells Kenzie he would rather be voted out tonight. Kenzie is surprised Q wants to be a martyr. Q shares this sentiment with Tiffany, but Tiffany tells Q she’s not voting for him tonight. She still plans to vote for Bhanu tonight.

Drawing rocks

At the journey, Bhanu, Ben, and Liz learn they will draw rocks to determine their fate. Whoever draws the white rock will go back to camp without losing his or her vote. The two who draw a blue rock will attempt a challenge to win an advantage or lose his or her vote. Before they draw rocks, Bhanu gets emotional and tells Ben and Liz tonight will be his last night. He breaks down in tears while they console him. Bhanu also tells them that Tiffany and Q are tight. He adds that Kenzie is a mastermind.

Finally, they draw rocks. Liz drew the white rock. Bhanu and Ben will compete for the advantage. They must attempt to assemble nine blocks to form a cube before time runs out. They compete individually without knowing if the other person was successful with the challenge or not. The time runs out, and neither Bhanu nor Ben could form the cube. They both lost their votes.

Liz and Ben return to their respective tribes. They let their tribe members know everything Bhanu told them about the Yanu tribe. Ben also lies about the challenge. He doesn’t want his tribe members to know he lost his vote. Bhanu returns to camp too. He’s sad and tells them that nothing exciting happened. He lies and says he drew the white rock. However, Bhanu tells the truth to Q that he lost his vote. Q wants Bhanu to stay in the game and for Kenzie to be voted out. Q is confident he can persuade Tiffany to vote out Kenzie tonight.

The episode ends with a medical evacuation

Q makes his pitch to Tiffany. He says Bhanu will always vote however they want, but Kenzie will play her own game. He reiterates that Bhanu will stay loyal to them, but Kenzie would turn on them if it advances her game. Tiffany sees Q’s point of view, but she believes Kenzie is on her side. She would rather see Bhanu get voted out tonight.

We return to the Nami tribe. Jeff and the doctor greet the tribe. It’s about Randen’s arm. At first they thought Randen might have a pinched nerve from his sleeping position last night. However, there is concern there could be a bulging disc pressing on a nerve. If so, then this could need surgery. For Randen’s wellbeing, he needs an MRI. As a result, Randen must be medically evacuated from the game. Randen is understandably disappointed, but he calls Survivor the opportunity of a lifetime. He cherished getting to know his tribe members and he’ll be rooting for someone from Nami to win the game. Venus is especially sad since Randen was her only ally.

Back at the Yanu tribe, Tiffany tells Bhanu she hasn’t completely decided what she’s going to do tonight. While they’re talking, Jeff walks up and interrupts their conversation. Jeff lets Yanu know tribal council has been canceled. Bhanu says his prayers have been answered. He already had his farewell speech prepared. Q says someone on this tribe has been given a second chance. Tiffany said she didn’t want to vote anyone out. Kenzie said it’s unfortunate for Randen, but this is a win for Yanu. In his confessional, Q says Kenzie got lucky. He says she would’ve been voted out tonight.
