Who Is Gumball on The Masked Singer 11? He mashes up “If I Only Had a Heart” with Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat Song”
It’s Wizard of Oz night on Week Two of The Masked Singer season 11, airing on FOX Wednesday (March 13. Four NEW celebrity masks (Group B) will take the stage hoping to impress the audience and the judges with their sneaky stylings. Check out this preview of Gumball singing “Heartbeat Song” by Kelly Clarkson.
In case the audience doesn’t get the connection, the song begins with “I Only Had a Heart” from the original movie, sung by Jack Haley playing the Tin Man. The black and white photography bursts into color as Gumball transitions to the modern “Heartbeat Song.”
Leann Rimes returns to The Masked Singer stage
Gumball can sing! He isn’t a joke. He’s good enough to make it to the finals. Who do you think he is? In the Youtube comments, fans guess Skylar Astin. Other guesses include Jeremy Jordan, Guy Sebastian (Australian Idol) or Jonathan Groff. He does give off a Broadway vibe! Do you agree with the You Tube guesses, or do you have a different guess entirely?
At the end of the song, his costume dispenses an actual gumball decorated with a red heart, which judge Rita Ora takes. Notice that the cast is all in costume–Jenny McCarthy is the Good Witch, Ken Jeong is the Cowardly Lion, Rita is Dorothy and Robin Thicke is the Tin Man. I’m not sure what’s up with host Nick Cannon and that white outfit! He would have made a funny Wizard, especially topped off with a crazy hat.
Additional celebrity masks performing this week include double costume, Beets, Cleocatra, and Afghan Hound. The Masked Singer alum (and winner) Leann Rimes returns to perform.
