2020 Emmy Primetime Emmy Awards Complete Winners List

(ABC/Image Group LA) 72ND EMMY¨ AWARDS

The 72nd Emmy Awards hosted by Jimmy Kimmel will broadcast tonight Sunday 8:00 p.m. EDT/7:00 p.m. CDT/6:00 p.m. MDT/5:00 p.m. PDT, on ABC. Approximately 23 awards will be handed out tonight. But the bulk of the awards were announced during four live stream events last week, culminating in a TV broadcast last night.

For Creative Arts Emmys winners, including outstanding reality show host, best unstructured reality, choreography for a variety show, guest actors and MORE CHECK THIS LINK

Tonight’s presenters include:  Anthony Anderson, Jennifer Anniston, Jason Bateman, Sterling K. Brown, Ty Burrell, Laverne Cox, D-Nice, America Ferrera, Morgan Freeman, Ilana Glazer, Abbi Jacobson, Ken Jeong, Mindy Kaling, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tatiana Maslany, Bob Newhart, Randall Park, Issa Rae, RuPaul, Patrick Stewart, Jason Sudeikis, Gabrielle Union, Count Von Count of “Sesame Street,” Lena Waithe, J.J. Watt, Oprah Winfrey.

H.E.R. will perform during the “In Memoriam” segment.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 Emmy Awards will broadcast remotely with no traditional red carpet or live audience. Winners will accept their trophies at home, but according to ABC, some may get visits by hazmat suit wearing presenters. Wow.

Reactions to Jimmy Kimmel’s monologues are shots from prior Emmy awards shows. Cute. Jimmy says there are over 200 locations from around the world. All award nominees. The presenters are at the Staples center.

Jennifer Aniston does a bit with Jimmy that includes screaming back and forth across the stage. Then, they burn up the reveal card to sanitize it. Looks like lots of hijinks tonight.

A bit featuring “interns” being instructed on how to deliver Emmys in their hazmat suits is actually a Kia commercial. Zzzzzz.

The “mailman” arrives.

Dan Levy is wearing a kilt. Dan and Eugene hugging after his win was very sweet. Eugene has been married 43 years! SCTV IN THE HOUSE.

SURPRISE David Letterman presents Outstanding Variety Talk Series! He tells jokes from the 1986 Emmys. Heh.

SURPRISE: Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow from Friends do a funny remote bit (They’ve been roommates since the 80s…or something)

In Memoriam featuring H.E.R. performing Prince’s “Nothing Compares to U”

The TV version had voice overs from Regis Philbin, Dianne Carroll and Chadwick Boseman. I’m not sure whye there were cut out/not edited in the digital version.

Everybody involved tried hard to put on an entertaining show, but man, the virtual version of the Emmy’s had its moments but mostly either boring or hella awkward.  The ACMs did a much better job, but maybe its not a fair comparison. The ACMs consisted mostly of music performances, and had most of its nominees in Nashville to accept their awards. Too many people involved to have everybody fly in to accept their Emmys in person.

The remote exchanges between Jimmy and the nominees fell flat. The best bits were Jimmy’s monologue, and the pre taped videos featuring David Letterman, Jennifer Aniston, etc.

As far as reality shows are concerned: The Voice was completely shut out of their 6 nominations. Rupaul’s Drag Race won best competition reality show and best host. So You Think You Can Dance’s Al Blackstone won best choreography (Handed out at the Creative Arts Emmys night 5). The Masked Singer won Best Costumes for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program (Natch!) that was also handed out last week.

Schitt’s Creek, Succession and Watchman dominated their categories. And how about Dancing with the Stars alum, Zendaya, winning Lead Actress in a Drama Series? She’s come a long was from teen stardom.

We’ll be tracking all the winners here
