The American Country Countdown Awards aired live from the Forum in Los Angeles CA Sunday night (May 1) on FOX The two-hour event was the first country music awards show to air live from Los Angeles in more than 10 years.
Carrie Underwood performed “Church Bells” from her Storyteller album as well as presented the first award for Male Vocalist of the Year. The singer won Female Vocalist of the Year. Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles and Cam plus Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Thomas Rhett also performed.
American Idol winner Trent Harmon and Jana Kramer presented Song of the Year to Thomas Rhett, while season 10 winner Scotty McCreery and Maddie and Tae presented Breakthrough Female of the Year to Kelsea Ballerina.
Cat Deeley and Paula Abdul of So You Think You Can Dance were also on hand to present an award.
Reba McEntire awarded the Nash Icon Award to the duo Brooks & Dunn.
Finalists and winners for all categories are based on radio airplay charts, sales and streaming data from April 1, 2015 to March 28, 2016, provided by BuzzAngle Music. Touring data is from Pollstar “The Concert Hotwire.” The NASH Icon Award is chosen by The American Country Countdown.
