2015 Emmy Awards Memorable Moments (VIDEOS)

Here are a few 2015 Emmy Awards memorable moments, including Andy Samberg’s opening video and monologue, The In Memoriam segment, a series finale montage that upset some folks, and more.

Andy Samberg’s Opening Monologue – The opening video package had Andy holing up to binge watch a ton of TV ahead of the hosting gig. He emerges eventually VERY worse for the wear. Funny commentary on the dangers of binge watching! Leave your houses once in awhile people (I need to take that advice). The monologue that followed was generally funny, albeit a few clunker.

Andy Gave Out his HBO Go Password – For Reals. I don’t know if it’s still functional, but people were logging on with it!

SPOILER ALERT! Series Finale Montage Gave Away The EndingGlee, Parenthood, Nurse Jackie, Newsroom, Boardwalk Empire, Sons of Anarchy, Parks and Recreation, Mad Men, Two and a Half Men, and more. If you have been vigilantly avoiding spoilers of those shows until you had a minute to catch up DO NOT WATCH THIS CLIP. There were some annoyed folks in my twitter timeline afterward. But then, if it’s 3-6 months after the fact…is it really a spoiler? There are also some great clips from The Daily Show, Colbert Report, Late Show with David Letterman and the Late Late Show.

In Memoriam

Fittingly, the background music was from an artist who left too soon–Eva Cassidy’s lovely version of “Over the Rainbow.” The singer died of cancer at age 33 in 1996. Leonard Nimoy was the last image. A notable omission was Yvonne Craig who played Batgirl in the 60s series, Batman.
