Idols Party for the Holidays

Idols Party for the Holidays

Many Holiday appearances await the Idols.  Here’s what I know so far:

Katharine McPhee will be one of the featured guests, along with Five for Fighting, High School Musical, Hall And Oates and JoJo, for The Grove mall Tree Lighting Spectacular in Los Angeles, CA, on Sunday, November 19.

Also, Katharine McPhee is scheduled to perform on The 8th Annual A Home for the Holidays.  This CBS special highlights stories about adoption.  Five for Fighting and John Legend are also featured guests, Friday December 22 at 8 pm EST.

Paris Bennett and Ace Young are among the featured attractions at this year’s Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day parade.  It starts Thanksgiving morning, November 23 at 8:30 am.  Elliott Yamin was originally scheduled to appear, but seems to have cancelled, for reasons not yet known. This parade will be shown in some markets–check your local listings for time and channel.

Taylor Hicks and Diana DeGarmo ( she’ll be singing “The Pharaoh Strut” on the King Tutenstein float) will appear at Macy’s 80th Annual Thanksgiving Day parade.  NBC will broadcast the parade Thanksgiving morning, 9am-12pm.

Katharine McPhee gets a parade, too.  She’ll be appearing Thanksgiving morning on the CBS Thanksgiving Day parade.

The Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting ceremony takes place  Wednesday, November 29 from 7-9 pm and features Taylor Hicks and other musical guests–John Legend and Bette Midler among them–performing holiday tunes.  NBC will broadcast the show live.

LaToya London and Anthony Federov will take part in Help is on the Way for the Holidays VIII to benefit The Pediatric HIV/AIDS Program at Children’s Hospital Oakland, Lyon-Martin Women’s Health Services, and Project Inform.  The concert takes place Sunday, December 3 at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco.  For ticket information, check out the website.

The omnipresent Ace Young performs with Five for Fighting, Jewel and Smashmouth (again!) in the Star 101.3  Toys For Tots Benefit Concert in Redwood City, CA.  It’s free and takes place Wednesday, December 6 at the Fox theater.  If ya go, bring a wrapped toy for the kids…

Taylor Hicks performs an acoustic set for the 2006 Gimme Shelter Benefit, Tuesday December 12 at The Roxy on Sunset, West Hollywood CA.  The proceeds benefit The Spectrum Program, a school for autistic children, located in Santa Monica, CA.  Other featured bands: Cold War Kids, The Like, Mellowdrone and Simon Dawes (another slight Idol connection–Jon Peter Lewis’s cousin plays in that band…). Tickets can be purchased at major ticket outlets like Ticketmaster.

Taylor Hicks will be a featured performer on TNT Christmas in Washington.  The show airs on TNT on Wednesday, December 13 at 10 pm.  The event is attended by the President and the First Lady.

Holiday time, but non-holiday–Katharine McPhee will perform two songs at the National Eating Disorders Assotiation Connect for the Cause luncheon in New York City, November 29. For more information, check out the website.
