Thursday Ratings: X Factor Falls Ahead of Finale

At this point, X Factor ratings should be rising in anticipation of next week’s finale, but instead the show dips 7% from last week.  Ouch. Survivor is also down a bit. And the Barbara Walters special. featuring One Direction, was down from last year’s edition.

ETA: Last night’s 12-12-12 concert probably had an impact on network ratings, but we won’t know for sure until those ratings come out later.

CBS was the number one network in adults 18-49 and with total viewers. On CBS, Survivor: Philippines scored a 2.8, down 3% from last week’s 2.9 adults 18-49 rating. On FOX, The X Factor earned a 2.6, down 7% from last week’s 2.8 adults 18-49 rating.  Barbara Walters Presents the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2012 notched a 2.1 among adults 18-49 down 9% from a 2.3 on December 14, 2011.

Wasn’t everyone watching the 12-12-12 concert last night?

  • wingzdoc

Man, hilarious that Cowell can’t even come close to half of the viewing audience he predicted would swallow up this show. 20 million? really?

  • chillj

My thought exactly.  I intended to flip over occasionally, but if something had to be sacrificed, it needed to be X Factor.  !2-12-12 was a wonderful concert, even better simulcast.

  • CB40

I wonder why there hasn’t been any mention of the 12-12-12 concert here (recap, etc.) or even in this post above. That’s the obvious reason for the ratings drop

  • mjsbigblog

Because these ratings are just for NETWORK SHOWS.

The concert probably had an impact, but we won’t know for sure until the cable ratings–where the concert aired–come out later.

  • LA944

I was watching the concert for 121212 on the computer–and DVRd Modern family. But, if there was no concert–I would have just watched Modern family and found something else to watch (nothing that’s listed above tho)

Barbara if those are the most facinating people you can find then I am over your show.

Simon is probably wondering what’s this Survivor bit doing hanging around 25 seasons beating his show!

Simon is probably wondering what’s this Survivor bit doing hanging around 25 seasons beating his show!

He’ll probably be trying to think of ways to incorporate Survivor-style competition into the show: singing *and* bug eating.

I am not worried about this fluctuation rating numbers. Everything is up and down. One day you’re up and next day you’re down. It just the way ratings are. I am a positive person and I look to the brighter side of life. I enjoyed watching X Factor USA and will be my number one source of entertainment till the day it eclipse totally under the media’s radar. Simon is a very rich mogul and he can afford some of his money to go down in kitchen sink grinder.lol.

  • fantoo1

I would love to hear Simon’s thoughts on the ratings this season lol.

  • calliebeckett

    “We’ll do better next season!”

  • girlygirltoo

Unless something drastic happens to improve the ratings, XFUS Season 3 might be the last season.

  • mtlfan2

i tought there were too many off key singing on this show so far.  Giving big songs to singers that can’t really perform them at least decently turns me off.

Ratings for the 12.12.12 concert.  Just 1.276 million viewers, and a 0.4 in the demo.
In the final ratings, the X Factor rose a tenth of a point to a 2.7.
