Jamaican singer, Tessanne Chin, takes a trip back to the 70’s with her latest single “Fire.”
The Voice 5 winner channels her inner Aretha Franklin in this classic R&B tune. “It’s a soulful power anthem and a reminder to never sell yourself short,” Tessanne told Billboard, “to keep your standards high as well as your self-worth.
“The whole experience of creating and writing this song was just so organic and real,” she said. “It took me back to the music and an era that I absolutely love and respect.”
The Jamaican singer had a blast writing and recording the track. “We were all in a live room clapping and stomping our heels around a mic to the beat to add that extra bit of realness to it,” she said. “It was so much fun.”
It’s amazing how she’s able to fully inhabit these old sounds. Tessanne is only 29 years old! Next time, I hope she takes on more contemporary fare.
