  • The Vegas rounds air this week on So You Think You Can Dance–Nigel promises some surprises, “Vegas call-backs tomorrow night. We have a ‘new’ round that surprised the dancers but really helped us make decisions. I hope u like it.”
  • The judging panel for tomorrow night, “Tomorrow night’s judging panel. Me, Mary Murphy, Adam Shankman, Debbie Allen, Lil’ C and Mia Michaels. Opinionated, obsessive and obstinate.”
  • About the girl dancers in Atlanta, “I’m disappointed with the amount of girls in Atlanta who think an arabesque and a wack kick (grand battement) will get them to Vegas.”
  • Oops, he pissed a few people off with that, “It’s amazing how when I say I am disappointed with girl dancers in Atlanta that it is classed as “hating Atl.” get some common sense people.”
  • The awesome Lil’ C was the guest judge in Atlanta, “Lil’ C was challenged by a dancer. I’ve advised him not to accept. It’s a no win situation. He’ll crush the kid and then be abused for it.”
  • Lil’ C is dissuaded, “Okay Lil’ C has been held back. When he battles it’s not pretty.”
  • A Season 4 dancer weighs in, “Will Wingfield has just said that the kid who challenged Lil’ C has either got big balls or a little brain? That made me and C laugh!!”
  • Oh Noes. Adam Shankman is upset, “what’s happening? Can we help? Anything we can do?”
  • Poor Adam! “I’ve just spoken to Adam. To quote a beautiful Diane Warren song, sung by Joss Stone he is “Bruised But Not Broken.” Send positive energy.”
  • Send Adam some love, “For those who want to send love @adamshankman needs it. The Heartbreak Kid is heartbroken.

Tomorrow night, the Vegas rounds begin on So You Think You Can Dance, Season 5. Swing by here at 8 PM EST, I’ll be blogging the episode!

I’m a Nigel fangirl. Oh yeah.

Poor Shankers. And it is ballsy to battle Lil C.

  • lilbrusc102

Poor Shanks, broken hearts are no fun.

Aw, I would love to watch Lil C battle some day…but probably not against an audition-er!!!

  • Calliope

Wow, Shankman’s broken heart is quite the tweeting thing. I’m not so sure what the ettiquette is… do I comfort him via tweet, look away, ask Nigel to call him again?

I love Nigel’s tweets. They’re very honest and give a good insight to the show. I can’t wait to see them once the live shows start.

I do love Nigel’s candor. I really miss it from American Idol. In an LA Times article I posted in headlines today, Nigel criticizes AI for making it all about the judges. I think Idol has suffered since he left.

  • Dr. Tracey

Yeah Idol is definitely not the same without him.

I was already looking forward to Vegas but if they have a new round then that’s even more to look forward to. One of the things I like about Nigel and the SYTYCD auditions is that even when the audition is really crappy he tries to give helpful advice and not just a snarky crack like Simon Cowell.

  • KrazeeK120

This is all fine and good but….WHERE IS MY TV BOYFRIEND DAN KARATY???? I really need him to be on the show.

I actually am really looking forward to seeing the Las Vegas round though. One of the kids going to Vegas goes to college in my city and believe me, it’s a big deal to have someone on TV from around here!

  • Calliope

I miss Nigel on AI as well, but love him on SYTYCD. He has a real affection for the art though, which shows and why I think SYTYCD is a superior show to American Idol. The way they showcase dance and the relevance to the actual dance world is quite the contrast with AI, in my opinion.

Plus, Nigel has quite the affection for the dancers. When he does LA events/charity shows he still has past contestants perform.

Sorry, I think I am the resident Nigel fantard.

I love the show and what it does and how it inspires up and coming dancers.
I have a 19 year old girl and I let about 20 of her friends, some dancers, come over and watch the show all together. Some hadn’t seen it. Although they all loved the show and seeing some of the great chances for committed dancers, they are still girls, and they all were REALLY bothered by Kat (sp?).
They didn’t understand why she has to paw the boy dancers,,,,,,,these girls ranged in age from 18 – 23, and they all had the same reaction, “If that was my boyfriend, she’d have a real problem with me”. I calmed them down as a mom, but did wonder, especially since Kat doesn’t wear a wedding ring, perhaps she should tone it down, with the grabbing at the boys, without their shirts on, kissing them, since some of them probably do have girlfriends. It makes her appear like a ‘horny old broad’ to these younger guys,,,,and as a an older woman myself,,,,,,,,yes, we might like em young, but she is on television. It clearly was distracting to young girls who kept thinking certain boys were hot, and were bothered with how she kept doing her groping.
For whatever is worth, I’m sure Kat would appreciate knowing she’s irritating a certain age fan base.
    A fan of the show.
