siobhan-magnus-3scoops-8

Season 9 American Idol Alum, Siobhan Magnus was scooping ice cream for a cure at the 3 Scoops Cafe and Gallery in Brighton, MA today.  Siobhan posed for photos, signed autographs and served ice cream to eager customers and fans.

Since I practically live up the street, I thought I’d drop by and get myself some ice cream (Mmmm Strawberry) and get the scoop (couldn’t resist. sorry!) on what Siobhan has been up to lately.

Siobhan is set to release the music video for her next single, “Black Doll” by the end of this week.  The song is an homage to the spooky one’s favorite artist and  illustrator, Edward Gorey.  Scenes for the video were shot in the Gorey home on Cape Cod–partially with an app on an iPhone!

The song will be available on iTunes October 3, ahead of her debut album which is set to drop at the end of the month.

To celebrate the CD release, a big Halloween bash will be held on October 3oth at the Wilbur Theater in Boston. If you plan to attend, make sure to dress up! There will be a costume contest..

100% of the proceeds of all the ice cream sold at 3 scoops today went to support the  Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

I had such higher hopes for Siobhan :(

@shooby1213 This isn’t her day job, this isn’t how she’s making a living, this is just an event that she’s taking part in for a good cause. There’s absolutely no stigma associated with that. Plus, as MJ’s update on Siobhan points out, she’s still keeping busy with music. Unless you expected her to become a superstar, I don’t see why you would be disappointed with where she is at right now. Focus on what she has accomplished after Idol, not what she hasn’t, and her situation will look much better to you :)

I think it was nice of MJ to go and to give her a thread. I like Siobhan and I’ll be buying her album.

The sad thing is that Siobhan hired a manager, a publicist, AND an internet guru, but they have done absolutely nothing to raise awareness about her new music. Even her hardcore fans have been left completely in the dark about what’s going on. This is the first time I’ve heard a release date for Black Doll. We wouldn’t even know that a new song was about to be released if MJ didn’t happen to attend this event.

Don’t get me started on Siobhan’s so-called “manager” and his idiotic policy of prohibiting fans from filming her concerts. This dumbass should go back to bartending, and leave artist management to those who have real experience in the music business. The real blame ultimately lies with Siobhan for surrounding herself with these losers. I’m starting to doubt that she has the brains or the work ethic to make it as a recording artist, and that makes me sad.

    Rant over.

I agree, she should have ditched her band and moved to Nashville or Los Angeles or at least try and get better managers. Staying at home and doing local things isn’t helping. I wish she had bigger success. Maybe time will tell.

I’ll be picking up her album. She was the only bright spot during dismal season 9 for me.

  • zjzr

Woohoo! More S9 alum news, now from my main fave of that season! Even if I feel I might not like the song she is going to release (although I like her single Beatrice Dream, though IMO the sound mixing needs work on her future releases) due to its genre (goth rock I think), I still wish the best for her, and hope that she may find a stabler management, or even a stable record label, if it is true that she is having problems as of lately in promoting her music.

I think that Siobhan is a talented vocalist, but I don’t like the music that she’s produced thus far. It sounds like she would benefit from better management. Regardless, I wish her the best of luck.

How cool that you were able to attend this event and chat with Siobhan and :::cough::: get the scoop.

Her music video sounds interesting in both the location and how it was shot. There is somewhat of a movement surrounding shooting videos (and at least one feature film of note) with the iPhone.

Good for her that she is working and kudos for donating her time for a very good cause.

Thank you, MJ for promoting a good cause! Siobhan + Cure for Breast Cancer!

cowboysfan, you have expressed the anger many of Siobhan fans feel. She was the highlight of Season 9 for me, both on the show and on the tour. She impressed both David Letterman and Paul Schaefer. Has her agent or manager contected them yet?

This young lady is so talented and with proper marketing she could have success. Since she is so “spooky” she should be appearing on a talk show for Halloween. Maybe Ellen’s show?

Another thing… I’d love to see Siobhan tour with James Durban! But the management teams have to get together if they want this to happen.

  • fuzzywuzzy

James is trying very hard to distance himself from Idol, so touring with Siobhan (or anyone else from Idol) wouldn’t happen.

  • Grammie Kari

Awwww…that’s too bad. It seems Siobhan has been doing the same thing. I never hear that she is with other Idols at a charity event or performance. I can be sad, right…

  • artemis

I think Siobhan performed at an event in Chicago with Crystal awhile back.
If her manager won’t allow fans to take videos at her concert, that is ridiculous-they share them with other music fans to spread the word about the artist. Seems like Siobhan can use all the publicity she can get.

Siobhan was a fave of mine, too, from AI9. I didn’t care for Beatrice Dream, tho. Isn’t James on a commercial for the NFL courtesy of AI?
