Scotty McCreery Goes Back to High School for “Trouble With Girls” Video

Scotty McCreery headed back to high school today to shoot the music video for his latest single, “The Trouble With Girls.” (Via the Charlotte Observer)

The “American Idol” winner invited about 70 of his friends to take part in the production at Garner High School, where Scotty is currently a senior.

Scotty and his friends walked the halls, conducted science experiments, passed notes in class and generally did the stuff high school students do–all in front of the cameras. (There is a nice photo on the site of Scotty in his science goggles!)

“For me, it’s all about making it believable, ” said Scotty, “Even the songs in my album – they’re about my life.”

Director Roman White says that the school is ideal for the video and the song.

“It’s kind of a high school story about boys and girls and first love – kind of innocent glances, ” said White. (Who has also directed videos for Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Justin Bieber).

“It’s kinda hard to believe, said Tyler White, Scotty’s fellow high school senior, “When he left, we were proud of him, but we never thought it would come down to this – shooting a video here. It’s kind of surreal.”

Another Garner High friend, Gabi Dugal said, “I never thought I’d be on TV, so it’s going to be really weird.”

Weird indeed…could Scotty himself have imagined making a music video in the halls of his high school even a year ago?

Scotty’s album, Clear as Day, comes out on Tuesday October 4.
