Kradam. Sigh. Hoping for more interviews with both of them, prior to the Kradam Variety Hour. :)

I only started watching in S6. Has there ever been a Kradam even remotely this awesome, individually and/or collectively?

  • abbysee

I love these reviews for Adam and Kris, they are gonna be interesting to follow in the coming years.

I only started watching in S6. Has there ever been a Kradam even remotely this awesome, individually and/or collectively?

It’s seems to me that when two guys are the top two they do form a bond that transends the show. Ruben and Clay were and continue to be very close even attending concerts of each others and concerts together, a couple of years ago they attended a Kelly Clarkson show together…Ruben saw Clay in Spamalot, and Clay attended Ruben’s show when Ruben visited NC. There was even talk of a buddy movie at the height of their fame…..

The David’s, hell they are referred to as the Davids, they are also still quite close, an unlikely friendship, possibly, but they seem to adore each other. They of course had that epic concert together a couple of month ago in the Phillipines, I am sure that their friendship was one of the reasons it came together so well.

ETA: Posted too soon…..Kradam, imho is just bigger than those I mentioned though because people would assume, the ‘shock’ of Kris win, and the ‘gay’ factor, would seem to preclude them from being even lukewarm about each other, instead they are insanely in ‘love’ with each other. I don’t mean in a sexual way, but the way these guys adore each other is so evident, and beautiful that it makes for exciting viewing for us Kradam lovers. And it’s funny cause I am a cynical bi0tch, but watching them navigate through this is just so heartwarming….I even resisted the whol Kradam idea for a long time, but it’s just futile, lol.

Kris is cute. He always looks so in awe of Adam.

Yes and it seems that Adam looks adoringly at Kris. I like how Ellen said it best – “like a proud father”. Really, really great pictures!

I was almost afraid to click on Ann Power’s review because I know how much she loves Adam, which is great! However, I was little afraid to see what she’d have to say about Kris but it actually warmed my heart. :)

  • girlygirl

Too bad there isn’t a photo of Adam’s mock proposal (or whatever that was) to Kris that he did during the DS finale.

I got home from the concert last night around 11 pm, but didn’t go to bed until 3:30 a.m! I was pretty wired after watching that concert. I wish I had known they were doing meet&greets by the bus, though — that really bums me out.

I’d say the crowd was mainly women in their 20-45 age range, but I saw a bunch of tweens and little kids (more tweens though), some people in the 50 age range and a surprising number of men. And walking out, I heard several men talking about how good the concert was. Lots of people raving over Adam. Luckily I didn’t overhear anyone talking negatively about any of them, which was nice.

  • rockvixen

Can someone post Jim’s interviews to youtube for international fans who can’t see it? Please and thanks!

  • girlygirl

I think Ann Powers actually was a supporter of Kris. She loved Adam more, of course, but if I remember correctly, she talked very positively about Kris during the show’s run, especially in the last few weeks leading up to the finale.

  • Mary102

ETA: Posted too soon’ ¦..Kradam, imho is just bigger than those I mentioned

I loved the Davids last year, but I think Kradam has them beat. Their interviews and banter together (like the AC Top 40 hosting) are just really natural, funny, and cool together. And I love the fact that their personal styles are just so different in the interviews, yet still go together so well.

I too love the top photo, and the reviews were great for all of them :-) Lots of love spread around (the mtv.com one was very funny).

A little too much focus on “gestures” in the LA Times one, though – I guess she wanted something to give the story unity, but it seemed like a random thing to focus on.

  • nuttin2lose

Laura didn’t pinch Adam’s butt lol. she took his pass from his back pocket. that bit right there was so cute. I like her interviews with Adam.

  • Eileen99

What I liked about the Powers review is that she didn’t judge each performer by the same standard – they were individually judged against the highest standard of what style they each were about, and whether or not they “brought it” to that style. Refreshing to read a review that gets that, and understands that the top 2 (especially), cannot be compared to each other, only to how well they each do “their thing”.

  • jammasta

ITA. Kradam is easily the best finale ever, it’ll be VERY tough to top next season (And, in the off chance something does, I probably won’t be watching next season anyway, I invested myself so much in Kris that I feel like I’m done with Idol.)

  • mmb

Ann Powers is fanatical/obsessed with Adam…just loves him, as evidenced by her articles this season. But she has also been a strong supporter of Kris. In fact, she was one of the first bloggers to pick him out as a potential final 2. I think either during motown week or top downloads she called Kris and Adam as the final 2. She preferred Adam FTW, but thought Kris was very deserving

  • wand3rful

My goodness, I feel that way about Adam, and I just can’t do this again. I’ved liked past contestants but Adam has me obsessed. I will go back to being a casual observer and watch only the finale. I feel like any future shows will just be a disappointment now, and also there just so much of Ryan and the judges I can take.

  • Eileen99

I completely agree. Kris has me so strung out emotionally, I cannot do this again next year! Reading the reviews, seeing the concert pics (and actually attending a concert myself this year) just perpetuates it!

I have to say I think the reviews by the LA journalists have been the best in terms of quality and insight that we’ve read so far.

  • Lux
  • Truthiness

Not to disagree, but I don’t think that Laura Saltman was pinching Adam’s butt. What I saw, and I could be all wrong (it happens too frequently) she took his all access pass out of his back pocket, which he then got back and did some mock whipping of her. Which I thought was high-sterical and cute. They were so giggly together.

Kris looks TIRED in his Dish of Salt interview. Which totally makes sense. I just hope he can get some sleep and is getting support from his family and friends. Always hard to lose someone, but it’s happening to him in a maelstrom, so he can’t take time off. That sucks.

That’s exactly how i feel this year. It is the only year that i really watched Idol. Emotionally invested a lot on Adam that i don’t think i would like to watch next seasons. Don’t think it would be as good. Good to know that there is commonality among us, even if we support different artists. Rock on, peace!!:-)

While I didn’t find their finale the best ever, they probably are my favorite Final 2 (just barely eeking past Carrie and Bo). Loved the Davids, of course, but that always struck me as more of a big/little brother dynamic (even if it isn’t always clear who’s who in their relationship!).

Kris and Adam really seem to have a beautiful relationship based on mutual respect and admiration and, of course, genuine affection. I think the correct term to describe what exists between the two is homosocial, reminiscent of the love between the biblical Jonathan and David. Or you can call it a “bromance,” I suppose. (Hate the term “Kradam,” however, and refuse to use it. Sounds too much like a yucky STD!)

Hehe, I think I’m in the same boat as you. I did the same thing last year with Archie, I said I’d give up but I didn’t. Thankfully Kris came this season so he made me watch (and he actually set the flame MUCH higher than Archie).

I love these pictures. I’m a little bit disappointed in Kris because Blue and Venom > Green and the Green Goblin, but that won’t stop him from being my favorite :P . By the way, I hate you L.A. for giving me so much Idol Tour stuff to watch XD.

That doesn’t look like a “proposal” picture to me. It looks like Adam is really getting into the song and bending down as many singers do when they sing certain notes. This whole Kradam thing is going waaaay to far to me. I’m almost excited for the tour to end so we can get back to Adam Lambert and Kris Allen the individuals.

  • Eileen99

unique28v: if you watch the video, it’s deliberate toward Kris. I think it’s adorable, and I’m not ready to give Kradam up yet. There’ll be enough time for the individuals in the years to come.

  • Squirrely

No that was done on purpose by Adam and Kris thinks it’s hilarious, they are having fun and it great to see. It’s just like on the Top 40 when Kris made that comment about Adam wanting him.

  • emme

So I was at Staple’s Center last night. I thought that Lil, Matt, Allison, Adam and Kris were great. I want to know if anyone knows what happened to Meghan after her short duet with Lil. She did not show up for the finale.
I think that Lil smacked her around back stage after her HORRIBLE short duet where she was off key and had lost the melody of the song they were singing together. After the smack down Meghan couldn’t make it back on stage. Does anyone know the truth???
BYW Sat behind Allison’s mom and family at the show…they were great, so proud of her and were really loud during Adam’s performance too!!

  • CFIdolsfan

I only started watching in S6. Has there ever been a Kradam even remotely this awesome, individually and/or collectively?

There are some close friendships that we may not see that much of now, but are there, and who for me are awesome: Ace Young and Chris Daughtry, or “ChrAce,” as have been known to fans of both,:-). Ace has often gone out to see Chris perform, and of course one strong bond of theirs is the chorus to “It’s Not Over,” that helped launch Chris’ success and earned them both Grammy nominations. Ace had said in several publications that I had read that he would step in front of a train for Chris, and he would have taken Chris’ place if it were Chris going home that elimination night instead of him. He said he is bigger than Chris (height-wise), so Chris would not have been able to argue, lol.
Another close one is Phil Stacey and Chris Sligh. Phil referred to Chris once as his “frenemy,” lol. But they had met in Memphis at the auditions and hit it off right away, having been both worship leaders and playing and singing in bands. Their wives have been each others’ support, and they still stay in touch. Chris has cowritten with Phil, although I don’t think their collaboratins will be on Phil’s upcoming cd. And Phil, along with Gina Glocksen, Chikezie, and Melinda Doolittle, sang “Here Come Goodbye” on the American Stars tour earlier this spring. There is a youtube of Chris performing “Empty Me” at Phil’s July 5th concert at his dad’s church.
Then there are Danny Gokey and Jamar Rogers, whom have been friends pre-Idol. Danny tweeted that he encouraged Jamar to audition again, which he reportedly did and got him to Hollywood again.

  • Susan M.

@Eileen99, I’m with you. It’s all love. And they are so adorable and refreshing together. Just the way they look at each other in photos, (Adam in the last pic and Kris’ laugh in the “proposal” pic) I don’t think I’ve ever seen two platonic male friends EVER look at each other like that. It’s like they’re on some higher plane of existence and acceptance. I’ve always hated those name mash-togethers, but I dig Kradam.

Since I lost in for Adam I’ve embraced countless thing I really hadn’t care for or cared about previously; it’s nice ‘“ expansive and liberating. I’m also with the group that has to question if I am up for this type of thing next year. I have never been so invested in a TV show and its personalities before in my life.

LOL @ the proposal! They are so lovable.

It’s funny how people say they like someone so much that they won’t watch next year? Why ya’ll? I’ve loved someone every year from Kelly to Adam, every year I go over board with love, I have a girl crush on Kelly STILL have everything she records, same with Ruben, been to concerts, cd signings, plays….Fantasia same thing….The Color Purple, exquisite, by the way….anyway, it just seems odd to me to not watch again because you love someone…..

Anyway, I must say I love how both Adam and Kris are getting the love, and the mentions of Lil in particular, that maybe the judges actually were right, she does have something, it just didn’t translate on tv like it does on stage? Same with Matt, he had such buzz and expectations…..now he does again. Good for him. Oh, and finally before I actually do something with my day…..Anoop is sexy! Oh god, I am an idoltard?

  • Niall

I only started watching in S6. Has there ever been a Kradam even remotely this awesome, individually and/or collectively?

Every year since S1, fans get caught up in the relationship between the Top 2 (and the entire group, actually) and start ‘shipping them, obsessing over them, and generally acting like nobody else in the world has ever been better or cooler friends. It happens every.single.year. like clockwork.

Then the tour ends, the new season starts and it is on to the next set of contestants. LOL

Here’s an objective review from a non-AI fan. My husband watches AI but he’s not into any one of them. He was happy to see that all of them improved except for Danny. Danny needs to project more personality on stage. Suprisingly though Danny got more cheers than Kris. He commended Anoop for beginning to have some attitude. He also enjoyed Matt’s set. After watching Adam, he said that he needs to go to an ear doctor as the fan screams were too loud. He would like the producers to improve Kris set or at least put the fast songs from the beginning and at the end because the momentum somewhat diminished after Allison, Danny and Adam. I did notice that too. Kris got loud cheers but it is brief and things get quiet once he makes a transition from one song to the next. I told my husband this in an Adam crowd so what do you expect. Kris will get all the momentum at Arkansas and other places. He does deliver and I like him enjoying his set especially when he gets into his guitar and piano playing. I also like the way Adam shows his sincere admiration to the Idol winner.

  • Mary102

It is the only year that i really watched Idol. Emotionally invested a lot on Adam that i don’t think i would like to watch next seasons.

Despite being totally obsessed with Adam this year, and not knowing what next year will bring in terms of equaling that talent (I expect it will be awhile before we get someone with at least the voice and stage presence to match his), I just get a kick out of the yearly AI rollercoaster. I can’t really get sick of falling in love with a contestant, because it’s just such a fun experience for me. Despite the nerve-wracking intensity of following someone so closely and hoping they do well (make it far in the competition, etc.) I can’t begrudge the experience because it just brings me so much happiness. I just try to enjoy the ride :-) Even with Adam, the loss sucked, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Do I think everything Adam does towards Kris is some sort of symbol or inside joke that he wants Kris? No. lol

NO. They’re both obviously and actively yanking the Kradam fans’ chain. They’re having fun with the whole kradam phenomenon. No one takes the crush insinuations seriously, It’s just for the lulz. And Adam and Kris know this and indulge it, even feed it as this move clearly illustrates.

They’re having with the fans and the fans are having fun with them. It’s harmless, and often very lulz worthy.

I like today’s reviews. Everyone’s acknowledging Adam was brilliant while also singling out Kris and some of the others as pretty strong as well. Which was my feeling being at the concert in person. Adam blew the roof off the place, Kris was fantastic, Matt kicked butt on Hard to Handle, etc.

I prefer the reviews that acknowledge more than one person on this tour and refrain from unnecessary comparisons. Even the negative comments I’ve seen in these reviews weren’t over the top harsh, which is nice.

Adam and Kris fans should be having the time of their lives right now. No stress at all! They are getting so much love and praise. Now’s the time to enjoy it. It shouldn’t be exhausting – they have surpassed all their dreams I’m sure.

Love that Matt is getting a lot of notice – wonder if Sony will sign him. He had a great night last night. JC of MTV pisses me off a bit with the gay slams. Adam has such high expectations to meet continuously, but Kris only has to “hold his own”. Adam just can’t get away from gay stereotypes and extreme scrutiny. Kris, once again, only has to be likable and hold his own. (And I like Kris – he’s a deserving winner) But, Adam’s got to be the one under huge stress as people are waiting to tear him down. He never ever gets accolades for his voice.

It is pretty funny that Adam gets a lot of lady love, but gay bloggers and reviewers really have it for Kris. Adam would understand that!! But, ouch, gay writers sure are reluctant to praise Adam for voice and talent – they are the ones that can’t get past slinging gay digs. I like Kradam more than the David last year, but a lot of is that Kradam are more similar in age and their humor/chemistry more adultlike.

Perez is right for a change. Adam’s denim vest is aweful. Sorry, but I have to agree with him!

I think that it may be necessary to organize a fan campaign to get Adam to loose that vest and those aweful sunglasses at the same time!

Well you know I totally agree with you. As I’ve stated before, both of those things need to burned and the ashes from that burning, buried 5 miles below in a glass drum. Yeah, I really don’t like them.

That being said and as bad as they are, that would not be my first comment about Adam if I went to the concert. Typical Perez fail.

  • Chipmunk

  • Valentin432

I mustbe alone on this planet, because I fucking hate Kradam!

I don’t quite hate it, but it lefts me cold. I have trouble seeing this as something beyond what happened in season 6 with the Blake Lewis – Chris Richardson pairing and in season 7 with Michael Johns and David Cook.

Tweens (and older women) love to pair the two hot guys each season and fantasize about it, this year difference is that Kris and Adam went all the way to the final so they gave more material than in years past.

  • LisaE

I was at the concert, and Adam was definitely NOT “proposing” to Kris. That’s laughable. He was boogieing down and trying to get Kris to dance with him. Kris started to dance with him and then just broke off laughing. He couldn’t do it.

This is a very unfortunate reading of Lindsay’s tweet. She said she doesn’t like the NAME “Glambert.” She later said she was OBSESSED with Adam (tweet now erased). So Laura is creating controversy where there is none, and Adam might get into trouble with that comment. Sam Ronson is a very good person to know in LA and if she spins some of Adam’s tunes at a club, that’s huge!

I’d say the crowd was mainly women in their 20-45 age range, but I saw a bunch of tweens and little kids (more tweens though), some people in the 50 age range and a surprising number of men.

Personally, I thought the crowd was about 50/50 men and women. There were lots of tweens, couples and families. A very wholesome crowd on the whole.

Oh and Lyndsey Parker from Yahoo! Music interviewed all of the Idols again. She got a lot of flack from Kris fans about how her last interviewed focused too much on him and Adam. So she’s been tweeting about how THIS interview w/ Kris went…

#Yes once again I told kris to stop being so humble. Got him to say “I’m the headliner”#about 21 hours ago from TwitterFon

#Kris at first said “I’m not the headliner, I just follow Adam.” i said stop that!!#about 21 hours ago from TwitterFon

#FYI kris mentioned adam. On his own. Not me. I didn’t mention Adam. All kris & I talked about was the tour, new album & his grandma#about 21 hours ago from TwitterFon

#All the idols seem to remember me. Even kris. Matt said he saw the interview I did before. I know this sounds geeky but that makes me happy!#about 21 hours ago from TwitterFon

#I tell kris stop being humble, he remembers I told him that last time & jokes, “I know, you hate me!” LOL that’ll be taken out of context!#about 20 hours ago from TwitterFon

From what she says, it sounds like Kris flew back from Arkansas yesterday morning and went straight to Staples from the airport. Because he wasn’t there with the other Idols at the press stuff at first.

And here’s what she says about interviewing Adam. In their last interview, she was really fangirly, and even screamed when he revealed one of his numbers for his set.

#I barely stuttered this time and did not scream#about 21 hours ago from TwitterFon

    LOL

Anyway, she says all the interviews (about 3 min. each) should be posted on Monday — although her review of last night’s show should be posted sometime today…

  • Calliope

Exactly! I stated this in the other thread and I love Kradam, but making up something from a still shot, when they were all dancing is just silly! It was a great moment in the finale. Maybe Kris will pick up some moves from Adam by the end of the tour.

  • Niall

I think maybe there is an element of ‘OMG he’s gay and they are still friends’ . So what? Clay was gay and Reuben was his friend. Why wouldn’t he be?

Yeah it’s a little strange almost as if the people ‘shipping these guys every season have never had friendships of their own and that’s why they are so enthralled by it all. That’s an exaggeration, of course, but the idealization and fantasy surrounding the whole thing is strange. I think both Adam and Kris (and Allison)are amazing talents but I couldn’t care less about whether or not they hang out or who is best friends with who. It’s too “Teen Beat”-ish, but it will be over soon. Just like “Cake” and the Cook/Johns thing and Canthony and even the whole Justin and Kelly thing.

  • papercut

Lindsay did not say that she liked the old Adam better than the glam one. She said she prefers calling Adam by his real name ADAM LAMBERT. I think she’s misunderstood that Glambert is a nickname for Adam, but isn’t it what the fans call themselves? So I hope no controversy starts over this little misunderstanding.

I loved Jim Cantiello’s review. He always cracks me up. I guess he’s getting flack for not mentioning Adam’s voice along with all his raves about him. :::shrug::: He was very complementary to all of them and that is very nice to see.

I’m surprised Jim hadn’t noticed Kris’ bass tones before. He has a very pleasant range and the deepness of his voice is one of the things I find attractive.

I was afraid to read Ann Powers’ blog since she’s so OTT an Adam fan. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t quite get why she chose to review body language, but it is different and worked. Glad to hear such positives for Kris.

  • girlygirl

Well it was cute whatever Adam was doing. He and Kris were having a good time, which is what matters. I like the whole Kradam thing because it celebrates their friendship. But it can get a little out of hand when the fanfic writers and some of the other fans try to turn it into some sexual relationship rather than just a really nice friendship between two very sweet, talented guys.

And the photos from this morning are interesting — haven’t ever seen Adam in a baseball cap before. Maybe he was up late with all his friends and had to rush around this morning to make that appearance on time.

As for the screaming at last night’s concert — I was surprised by how many fans Danny had there. I don’t know why I was surprised — he did finish 3rd after all. And he was in very good voice, although personally I didn’t like the Rascal Flatt’s “inspirational” song — or the speech. But people were swaying back and forth and waving their arms — it felt very weird — like a church revival had popped up in the middle of a pop-rock concert. It creeped me out a little — but as I say, lots of people loved Danny. IMO the screaming for Danny and Kris was fairly even — I thought Kris got more screams for his intro than Danny, but Danny got louder screams for a couple of his songs than Kris. Neither one of them matched the screaming for Adam, though.

I LOVE Jim Cantiello! I was kinda mad at all the flack he’s getting because I too think that Adam’s vocals are kinda implicit- everyone already knows he got it right? I actually like him in the truck hat, and it’s bill hides some of the hideousness of those fugly glasses, so win! What I’m not fond of is the fit of those pants and Tshirt. I do like casual, loose Adam, but that T-Shirt with those loose pants? Not a good look. He could have kept the shirt, but a slighter tighter pants would have helped. Hey, Adam is into fashion, so I’m sure he appreciates discussions about what he’s wearing. As long as that’s not the only thing.

It’s amazing to see how he changed his stance since the finale. First, he was all in favor of the soul with latin flavor album and now he points out that he did Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flats on the show.

Obviously. But people were running with it as if it were intended as something other than two guys / two friends dancing. I just wanted to clarify.

I kinda found it funny how much Cantiello changed the Adam part of his story. First he took at the Rufus W. reference, and now he’s added a section about his vocals. Apparently, some reviewers can’t take criticism. In that vein, Lyndsey P. needs to stop making excuses. Reviewers need to take a stand at some point, otherwise I lose respect for them.

Did he? That’s interesting. Although the Gay Messiah line was offensive. Not for religious reasons but for characterizing Adam as simply as a gay singer rather than just a singer.

okay, so my other question is if there are any true country fans out here that would embrace him?

If the music is good, I find Country music fans to be really open-minded. Look at the rock performers who have done successful cross-overs – Bon Jovi, Robert Plant – and many R&B preformers have done well with Country – Ray Charles, etc.

The only negative comments that I ever saw about any of the AI8 was some people not happy about Kris saying “I don’t feel like I would go that country way. That’s not my type of music and that’s not the feeling that I want on my album …” after the Finale performance with Keith Urban. But those comments were usually followed by something like “It’s such a shame. He is a country boy and even is from the south. Hopefully, some of his songs on his album will sound country.”

If actually seem more comments about Country fans wanting a Sarver country album than a Danny country album. :) )

In these interviews both Adam and Kris sound really excited about how their albums are coming together. Now I know that they have to be positive to the press about this — but to me, anyway, they do seem genuinely pleased with how things are going. Adam seems so happy about all the producers he’s collaborating with, and Kris said he is writing stuff on his own as well as co-writing stuff. So I’m starting to get a little hopeful that their debut albums will be a lot better than what we have tended to get from the ex-Idols once they are fresh off the show.

I guess both have been advised not to say too much…in his MTV interview, Adam says he has a favorite song of the ones he’s recorded, but isn’t allowed to say what it’s called, while Kris was being cagey about possible collaborations when asked about that in one of his interviews. They’ve probably been told to stick to generalities when asked about their albums.

    About Word Records
Word Records is a faith based record label and a subsidiary of Word Entertainment. Word was founded in Waco, Texas in 1951 by Jarrell McCracken.

Word is now based in Nashville, Tennessee. The artist roster heralds some of today’s top Christian music performers and songwriters including David Phelps, Diamond Rio, Mark Schultz, Meredith Andrews, Nicole C. Mullen, Point of Grace, Remedy Drive, Salvador, and Stellar Kart. Word Records leads the industry with over 55 years of music-making history and has been named the ‘Top Christian Imprint’ for the past 2 consecutive years by Billboard Magazine.

I posted this on the headlines thread but I’m bringing it over here since MJ posted a header about Danny’s career plans.

Nope not country’ ¦’ ¦His producer might be Mark Bright, but the label he is referring to is Word’ ¦hence the quote. I don’t quite understand where the disconnect is coming from.

Renowned country music producer Mark Bright has been named president and CEO of Word Entertainment, the Christian and gospel arm of Warner Music Group.

Bright will oversee all of Word’s operations, including Word Distribution, Word Music, Word Music Publishing and Word Label Group’s four imprints. He will report to Warner chairman and CEO Tom Whalley.

    You guys, it’s DANNY! With an ‘A’ ! D*A*NNY!!!

Danny? Donny? What’s the difference? A couple of years from now it will be, “you know, what’s his name, the guy who screamed on Season 8.”

Donny should be happy that we even know his name at all.

As for the question about country music fans and Donny: I am a huge alt-country fan. It’s by far the bulk of my listening and mostly the concerts that I find interesting. I can guarantee that I will never buy an album by Donny. I think he has an OK voice and not one iota of musical taste or creativity in his body. Plus, I find his lack of knowledge of musical canon shocking. If he doesn’t know any Gram Parsons songs, he’s not a serious alt-country/country artist.

Ask yourself: Would Donny fit into this jam:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4QbEcVVBHM

Or handle this classic Gram Parsons song:

  • Vada

ravengirl, there is NO money in being a strictly gospel singer. It would also not be high profile enough to help his charity.

Mark Bright, his new producer, is also the CEO of Word Music, a gospel label. If Word can partner with another label or distributor, Danny could do country music that could cross to Christian.

I expect the next announcement would be him signing with Word, with a distribution partner.

    1. Danny conversation about wanting to make a move on the reporter with the silver shoes. LOL

    2. Anoops favorite movie is Swingers? “cocktails first. questions later.” LMAO

  • colette

yay — this batch of reviews mostly got it right, IMO — like in the OC Register:

Both Allen and Lambert showed why they finished one-two in the TV show and why more than any of the others they’ll likely have lasting careers.

Lambert just exudes star quality. ….
Allen, meanwhile, held his own and did so in his own style: sincere vocals, solid instrumental skills on guitar and piano, and the same comfy clothes and sneakers he wore on the show.

Yup, this is what I saw and heard too. Separate but equal, and both giving it their all. Nice to see journalists that don’t need to take sides, and root for one against another! :clap_tb:

  • Chipmunk

Danny? Donny? What’s the difference? A couple of years from now it will be, ‘you know, what’s his name, the guy who screamed on Season 8.’

    :laugh_tb: :laugh_tb:

  • Chipmunk

Chipmunk, what are you talking about? The Lindsay Lohan thing?

    Yeah

Looks like E! got Lindsay’s comment wrong and Laura claims E! misquoted Adam’s response. As Adam would say ‘” Whatever!

    Aha..ok, whatever then,LOL!

  • weareallinnocent

You haven’t seen Velvet Goldmine?! It’s an amazing film, truly great. avant-guarde, artistic and so moving, you should give it try. It’s a very well done film. Eddie Izzard is wonderful in it.

    Totally Agree!

hwc, you are killing me. LOL!

    Totally Agree!

  • Chipmunk

Velvet Goldmine is Awesome, a great flick!!!!!

  • Squirrely

Okay I am offically a Matt Giraud fan! He loves my favorite movie AND my favorite scene. I like the movie Adam chose and has seen it a few times but I don’t love it – it’s a freaky movie, but it so fits Adam – however Jonathan Rhys Meyers is so yummy to look at, and the soundtrack is beyond awesome too

  • ravengirl

Someone made this comment on the MovieLine post, but I’ll repeat it here because it’s true. Adam Lambert IS Velvet Goldmine.
I watched it again for the first time in years just the other night and could just imagine Adam entranced with the whole decadent, glittery glam thing of it. It is a very underrated movie.

And Danny, “Aladdin”? Seriously? My kids didn’t even like that one that much. And what’s with the reporter in silver shoes?

Lyndsey Parker’s Yahoo! Music review of last night’s show is up. She goes gaga over Adam (of course), but also gives major props to Kris and generally is very positive about ALL the Top 10

Best news of the day: Adam and Slash are still in contact (apparently they text) and are hoping to maybe collaborate.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL3uaEIifmw

    Woohoo!

btw. I’m with whomever said that the trucker hat was awesome because it takes away from the hideous sunglasses. I’d much rather keep the sparkly vest than those sunglasses! Can we all write Adam a very nice note about all of these things?? ;P

  • https://twitter.com/draddee Sunn

ROFLMAO and LOL and ROFLMAO again at Lyndsey Parker’s Adam review.

because much of “Whole Lotta Love” was not suitable for underage viewing. This performance left me feeling sweaty and unclean (in a good way). May I suggest the Idols Tour merch booth start selling official Adam Lambert Freshening Moist Wipes? They’d certainly come in handy after “WLL.”

    ROFLMAO!!!

    And this bit is classic:

Oh, and by the way…Gene Simmons really needs to keep his long-tongued mouth shut. I just have to say that. Anyone who says Adam Lambert is “not a rock star” or has “ruined his career” is clearly an idiot. Gene wishes he could perform like Adam did last night.

    LOL!

For me, that’s the biggest news of the day. Not even Danny getting signed *eventually after all his talks* can beat that. Seriously.

It appears I took the afternoon off on a good day. There’s so much great stuff to wade through– great reviews and videos from last night and fun comments. I’m in heaven! Thanks to MJ for rounding up all the news and to all who contribute.

I had so many thoughts running through my mind as I was going through everything but now have forgotten all but the most recent comments. RE the hat. Not my favorite, but he does need to protect that delicate fair skin. I like the sunglasses, again, they shade lots of his face. And I even like that sparkly vest.

  • girlygirl

What was up with Danny trying to decide whether to hit on that girl reporter while he was answering a question about his favorite movie scene? That was just — odd.

  • weareallinnocent

I like the sunglasses, again, they shade lots of his face. And I even like that sparkly vest.

    Me too!

And LOL at the Adam Lambert Freshening Moist Wipes! :-)

  • Truthiness

Well all the reviews and articles I’ve seen out of this show have been really positive to almost everyone, and certianly giving love to both Adam AND Kris. Saying they both did very well in their respective sets. So I’m pretty pleased with the LA press.

And there has been lots of great clips from MTV, Dish of Salt, and random other interviews like Rockerazzi, Karli on the Block, whatever. So much fun!

Oh and there were even cute Kradam pictures from the show. No, I don’t think it was a proposal picture. It was a picture of two guys having fun singing. Adam being goofy and Kris cracking up at it. Goofy Adam is a good thing, as far as I’m concerned, and Kradam is love. I like their friendship, it’s cool beans.

I think that sadly tonight’s show will probably be a bit of a comedown from last night’s epicness.

  • dhunken

Great article by Lyndsay Parker. The best one I think so far because I believe she was being a critique and fan at the same time. You could feel her experience and joy for all the idols……. And that is how it should be.

  • girlygirl

I saw this on the IDF site. I’m not a fan of stalking people at their hotels, but this is sort of funny. She got to meet both Adam & Kris, but the funny bit is about Anoop:

This is post from someone called HollyGo72 on the IDF site:

Not long after I got there I saw Anoop walking down the street talking on the phone. I said “Good morning Anoop!” He said good morning back. I said “I was just coming to get your autograph.” Then Anoop said he couldn’t stop right then. So I kept walking and Libracats was standing there a few feet away. She said that Anoop told HER that he couldn’t stop because he had to go meet his WIFE.

When we were talking to Kris, we told him we saw Anoop earlier but he refused to stop because he had to see his wife? Kris cocked one eyebrow and said “His WIFE!?” Then he chuckled and was like “That Anoop, he’s a fibber.”

Then later after Anoop came back out, Libracats and I were like “Heeeey Anoop! How was your WIFE!?” Anoop tried to play it off. He was like “Oh, yeah, Kris told me you told him about that. Sorry I couldn’t stop I had to be somewhere.” But Libracats said “But you said you had a WIFE!” And I was like “I know! I totally that we had some major scoop there!” Anoop was all sheepish and like “No, I don’t have a wife.”

Anoop has to come up with better excuses than that in the future!

The Rockerrazzi interview was fun. And Adam and Slash would be great together. But I guess I can never type LOL again! Oops!

Supposedly Kris & Adam were on KROQ this morning. Of course I missed it…hopefully there will be an audio download of this.

    From the second E! article:

Leo: Adam, how are you working on the record on the road?
Adam: It’s been double duty, and it’s been rough. I recorded all day yesterday [Wednesday] in L.A. But that’s a secret. It’s not for my record, possibly for a soundtrack. That’s all I can say. It’s not for New Moon, but that would be cool. It’s a lot of work. It’s like, OK go tour, go record, go write, go do press and photo shoots. But I stay pretty cool under pressure. They have a masseuse backstage, and that helps.

I wasn’t a big Matt fan while he was on the show, but I have to give him props for picking a scene from “The Godfather.” IMO that’s the only decent movie on the list.

Kris with Independence Day kind of cracks me up — is that the same scene David Cook parodied on Best Week Ever?

I’ve seen “Velvet Goldmine” and the scene Adam mentioned is the one I always use to tell people (mostly men) why I don’t think FFN is really all that attractive. Ewan McGregor just flopping around… Yechhhh. I don’t know how guys walk around with those things. (TM: Elaine Benes.)

    Otherwise, look at the list:

    The Godfather (1972)
    Aladdin (1992)
    Tombstone (1993)
    Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)
    Independence Day (1996)
    Swingers (1996)
    Velvet Goldmine (1998)
    Dancer in the Dark (2000)
    The Notebook (2004)

Matt was the only one who picked a movie made before 1990. Since my favorite movies are from the 1930s and 40s, that makes me sad. Oh, well. At least they didn’t pick wookie and hobbit movies.

  • Q3

I am guessing that dam was recording Mad World for use in the ABC TV commercial for FlashForward. They already used it for the movie theater commercial promoting the new series and there was a rumor early yesterday afternoon that his music was going to be used in a TV commercial that would begin airing in two days.

Makes sense since the song fits the show.

  • Valentin432

    In the first article:

But then Lambert added, “I want to work with Fantasia, just hollerin’ back and forth.”

I wonder if their voice would blend well? Frankly even tough I love them both, I have serious doubts.

LMAO smartcookie! That is my all-time favorite line from Seinfeld!

Was this when he was possibly at Rob Cavallo’s house (with Meat Loaf)?

They already used it for the movie theater commercial promoting the new series and there was a rumor early yesterday afternoon that his music was going to be used in a TV commercial that would begin airing in two days.

Why would he need to re-record it though when they’re already using his perfectly fine AI studio version?

  • Q3

Why would he need to re-record it though when they’re already using his perfectly fine AI studio version?

When you use music for a TV commercial, it is usually specifically recorded and editted for the spot — and the budgets are bigger. The production budgets for the in-movie theater promos are often really small — except for Coke and Pepsi.
The Web promo for FlashForward doesn’t use Mad World and I never saw the movie commercial. But I have a hard time seeing how you edit the recorded version to work in a 15 sec and 30 sec TV promo — and that’s what they need for this.

But it could be something totally different. Adam did say he was being presented with a lot of different opportunities.

Yeah but it seems like if they wanted to use it in the promos they would’ve requested a redo in the first place if they felt it needed sprucing up or whatever. The preview they showed at the movies included Adam’s vocals, but the one on TV (at least the one I’ve seen) only features an instrumental segment.

Anyway I’m glad Adam is still in touch with Slash! I wonder if he includes the little Slash-hatted emoticons he posts on Twitter in his texts to Adam. ;)

Does anyone know what twitter contest Laura Saltman is refering to when she told Adam he won? I can’t figure out what she is talking about.

  • CindyM

It’s from the Tweeterwall Blog…here’s a link to one of the contests up now.

They have different ones you can vote for. I think it’s hilarious that Adam won Mr. Twitter or whatever, he hardly ever tweets!!! His hacker tweets more than he ever did, I think. :lol_wp:

You guys don’t know how lucky you are that you can even go to a concert to see Adam (let alone more than once) – I live in New Zealand and can’t even contemplate how long before (or if ever) we will get to see “The Glittery Alien Prince from the Planet Fierce”

*sighs and goes back to keyboard to glean more Adam crumbs*

Yeah, I too would LOVE to see Adam and Fantasia “hollering” at one another – spectacular methinks!

Hey Valentin….sorry it took so long. Recap on Allison’s Family. We had great seats right off the stage on the right. I thought that before the show started that we were behind Allison’s WHOLE routing section, because several of the individuals had dyed read hair. The had a lot of energy and there was initially about 10 people. Several family members were relocated prior to the show starting due to being in the wrong seats. Allison poked her head out of the draped back-stage area prior to the show and they all got up and ran over there to talk with her…it happened so fast that I couldn’t get a pic.
After intermission, Allison’s mom, dad and uncle came from back stage and sat with the rest of her peeps, in the row in front of me (fourth row from the floor) and were so nice. Also the four “aunties” who were “relocated” came back too. My mom said to her that she must be so proud of her daughter, she said yes, was all smiles and was just beaming. They were up clapping through out Allison’s set and Allison came over to our side of the stage and gave them special attention…mom went crazy! They were all crazy for Adam too, which was nice to see.
All in all it was a great show! I would pay to see Lil, Matt, Allison, Adam and Kris again. If you can go to a show it is definitely worth the money!!!
