Kris Allen, Jordin Sparks Want You To Buy Jason Derulo’s New Album

Gee they should do something along this for fellow idols…Like Allison and Kris and Adam. Not to mention Kim Cauldwell, Jason Castro, Katherine Mcphee, Blake Lewis, and so on and on. Ok I know most likely this is a 19 sort of thing but that means they still can do it for Allison and Kris and Adam. Of course I would say Allison first since I think they have messed up her roll-out and promo the most (IMHO) This would be a new interesting way to promote fellow artist. Having other artist on the label promoting them. It does work. Look at what Adam did with the few he mentioned on twitter. It really helped Cassidy Haley he went form being off the charts to #3 on itunes Electronic charts. Not too shabby and more to the point it works having other artist promote you. Maybe the new way to go! Oh and yeah the video is cute…Like MJ can’t get in line fast enough to get the album. NOT! (I didn’t say this type of promo works on me but on some people it does )

Oh wait!!! Doesn’t Danny Gokey’s album come out the same day?

I actually like Jason Derulo’s music, so I may get his album. Not because of this commercial, though.

Oh come on….its ok to admit that the commercial persuaded you…. J/K How cute of you to put in that disclaimer…OTOH in all seriousness don’t you think they should do something like this for fellow Idols trying to get their music out there and heard. Just like ripp_ncwy mentioned Danny’s is coming out the same day. Like I said I am sure this is more of a 19 involvement and not so much idol related at all but those on 19 would benefit from this type of commercial. Isn’t Danny part of 19 in some Aspect. It would be wonderful for Carrie to do the same thing for Danny. His Sales would definitely skyrocket with her backing. (This is not to take away that Danny is not very good and couldn’t do it on his own just saying any help seems to be needed now a days except for the very very few and even they are getting help behind the scenes that may not be as obvious )

Jason Derulo is on Beluga Hts/Warner Bros. I have no idea why Jive is allowing their artists hype a WBR artist. There were a couple other artists from Sony labels in it, so maybe Sony and WBR cut a deal.

Jason Derulo is with Beluga Heights /Warner Bros Records but looks like Kara DioGuardi was involved in getting him signed.

Makes sense! but isn’t Allison also Jive. They could have had her unless they don’t think she is well known enough.

They’re not all on Jive. 3OH!3 is on the Photo Finish label, Jay Sean is with Cash Money/Republic, Jordin and Kris are with Jive. I think most of these artists were performing with Jason in some of the Jingle Balls.

Supporting someone on another label is fine, it doesn’t take money away from Jive or the rest if Jason Derulo sells some records. (It’s not like the TV networks, where if you watch one, you aren’t watching the other.) You can buy Jason’s music and also Kris’s, Jordin’s, Jay Sean’s, etc. Not mutually exclusive.

That was just plain odd. I certainly wouldn’t buy his music based on just that video. Not particularly fond of that sort of pimping…there are better ways to promo, like when asked in an interview or just twittering and texting among your friends. Still not sure about this method…seems a little lame. Sorry, just an opinion.

I think the commercial is cute and funny. Got to give Jason’s management credit for being clever. It does seem they taped the various artists at events they appeared together. They get their names and faces out there too, so it’s all good.

I think they met on the X-mas tours. I remember that they both performed on a show in Sacramento and other places. So maybe they met and became good buds on tour.

At first i was thinking that Jason Derulo was with Jives…
Maybe they just accepted this because it’s more publicity for them just being in hte add?

I agree with OnePlusSix. I Jason’s 2 singles so far are ok, though I’m not tempted to pick up the album yet. That commercial did nothing to convince me, and to me it’s kinda like a talking heads thing. Like the AI judges going, “This contestant can really sing! Amazing!” even when a performance is subpar. (Not trying to say Jason Derulo sucks, even though I haven’t heard him live I’ve heard of his musical backgrounds and think he should be alright).

I don’t really buy overt pimping like this. If some the artiste were asked, maybe in an interview and he/she goes, “Oh I think Jason Derulo’s good, he’s amazing”. That’ll be fine, and might even pique my interest. But a whole string of artistes raving bout another singer doesn’t really work for me.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that this was taped at either Z100′s Jingle Ball or one of the other Jingle Balls that all of these people performed at together. Besides the Z100 Ball there was one more that had this lineup. Jason has really been promoting himself on youtube, so this just falls in line with how he has been marketing himself.

They can’t even persuade people to buy their own albums. What makes them think they can do that for Jason Derulo?

This looks like Jason or someone in his entourage went around at some of the JingleBalls and asked some of the other artists who were on the same bill to pimp his album. Not exactly a professionally shot ad — I can barely hear some of them

Ok, just watched that again… Kris never even says Jason’s name at all… Looks like somebody (Jason’s crew) threw this together.. Interesting…..Kris just says “get it, it’s hot” – he could have been talking about anybody’s album for all we know….

In this kind of buying environment, I don’t see any issues with promoting yourself in different ways. It gets fans of other artists talking about you. Doesn’t matter if it is good or bad, they are still noticing you.

The biggest thing that comes to mind when seeing this, is that the Jingle Balls was a very good opportunity for Kris to network with other artists that he normally wouldn’t get a chance to meet. You never know when those interactions will come in handy in the future.

One last thing… I really wish Kris’s You Tube channel was used more the way Jason’s is. It’s great that he has one, but it could have his official Video & more things like that on it too. You Tube is really hot now and a great way to promote yourself.
